We bought dark brown ronseal total wood preserver. Towards the middle the paint was black. The rest of the fence is brown. Anyone know why this has happened

Been using this for more than fifteen years. Rich cedar colour is great on garden sheds. It now has a non drip formulae. One heavy coat usually is enough and spreads well. Priced keen if you shop around. Does withstand rain with it's oily formulae. Recommended.

Very disappointed in this Cuprinol herring grey. Not a bit of grey in the colour. It is more white. I always bought Cuprinol but will maybe try another make. Luckily I only used a bit to test before I painted decking yuck to this colour. Misrepresented on the tin.

Used on our fence panels and coming off. I've lived in properties with garden fence panels all my life and never had this problem. If it's only any good on a particular type of wood it may as well be taken off the market and save customers a lot of wasted money and time because seems a heck of a lot of people are making the same mistake!

Love Cuprinol UV decking oil. I was really worried for the colour, I didn’t want it to look any different to the natural wood, as I have quite a large area in full view from my living room. It has turned out perfectly, I used natural, it was easy to apply and the colour is absolutely perfect, just natural with a glow. Love it !!

If there was no stars I would pick that …. I bought 4x 5lt tubs of Cuprinol ducks back herring grey it’s nothing like the colour on the tin it’s like a watered down milk.. I did everything it said on the tin put three coats on … the tiniest of rain has made it all run and it looks a mess I’m so disappointed in this as always use this I’ve just wasted all that time and money on this product.. have you watered it down ? … can someone please reply to sort this out not a happy customer…

Terrible coverage. Fades and over 6 months goes patchy and comes off . Would never buy again

The product itself is ok for me it's the totally inaccurate coverage they put on the tubs. It says that it covers 10 fence panel sides at 6'x 5' sorry but it doesn't. I had ten panels to coat and purchased 3 x 5l tubs as they where on offer 3 for 2 and i ran out on the last panel.

Firstly the colour dries to a totally different one. Secondly it simply does not cover the timber properly and is so thin that it needs at least three coats to make any impression. I have been painting fences for many many years and Cuprinol used to be my choice but it has no covering power nowadays

I've used various "shades" colours in the past with no issues. I recently purchased 2 x 2.5ltr white daisy and 1x 2.5 grey on a 3 for 2 offer, I came to use it today and the first 2 letters of "shades" are correct but I can think of a couple of other letters to finish the word, all I can say is it has the consistency of milk and about as much white in it as milk, this stuff just runs, does not cover and I suspect milk might have done a better job. After applying 4 coats and still being able to see through it I gave up and went and bought a decent brand, cuprinol what have you done. In my opinion you have kept the price down by watering it down. Be warned people you will end up paying more and wasting a lot of time if you use shades these days. I'm not even going to open the grey as I can't be bothered to waste my time.
100% disappointed

I purchased 3 tins 9lt Cuprinol ducks back silver copse and a 5 lt tin painted my fences and gate rough textured wood done everything the tin said , over 3 days over a week ago in the nice weather leaving a lot of time between coats to dry . Today it is raining and the paint is all running and when you touch it it comes off on your hands I'm very disappointed as this cost me a lot of money now I don't know what to do with my fences . What can you do please ? I have photo proof of this . Kind Regards Lisa

Bought Cuprinol country cedar anti slip decking paint and it’s terrible I have done 3 coats on each of my decking areas In the garden and it’s all patchy and different colours . I have never had an issue with Cuprinol however I don’t think their paint is as good as it used to be and it’s not cheap either .

I bought Silver Birch Garden Shade as the photo on the front is a dark grey, in order to paint my roof terrace fences. The photo on the front of the tin exactly matched my existing decking colour. So you can imagine my surprise (and horror) to come home and see the very light, very silver colour which had been painted by my partner. It is about 10 shades lighter than the photo on the tin and in all the advertising photos and we now have to buy another brand and start the laborious process again. I bought this as a trusted brand name. Never again

Hello I have a gate on the side of our house which was already treated.But it was in need of redoing so I used Ducksback brilliant it was amazing how good the water repellent it was but we have decided to to do all the fencing in our back garden so immediately think Ducksback .We purchased 15ltrs went home painted one fence panel bearing in mind it wash already coated I applied one coat three or four minutes later it had disappeared so applied another coat again disappeared I applied two more coats and still it hasn’t covered I don’t understand hopefully Cuprinol will get in touch to discuss this

I purchased at least 12 cuprinol 5L cans of antislip decking paint to find that when it has been walked on a few times it comes off. I prepared the decking as your instruction and gave 2 coats to which it looked amazing.
Now it needs doing all over again, due to the patches that are appearing daily, which will be thoroughly time consuming and at great expense to me again due to the size of the decking. It hasn't been done a year yet.
I have sent in message from your contact page for advise or support and tried calling a few times with no joy due to the phones having technical issues.
I know the weather hasn't been brilliant but when it says hard wearing long lasting weather protection I expected more than a few months of it looking ok

Summer 2021 we spent a small fortune on Cuprinol Seagrass paint for our garden fences, we liked the colour and also the 5 year guarantee that came with it so although the expense we decided to buy 3 5L tubs, it's now coming up to summer 2023 and the fences look rubbish, the colour has faded a lot even though we followed the instructions on the tubs, not something you would expect for the money or from a company like Cuprinol.
Obviously we have photos as proof of this

I have used the garden shades for a few years and loved it. All our sheds and fences are painted with it and never had a problem until now. This product is so watery that it just runs off the piece you are painting, not how it was. No consistency at all. And you expect a slight variation in colour when buying the same colour a few months apart but these are totally different. Going by some of the reviews on here it looks like I'm going to be re doing everything very soon, but it wont be with a cuprinol product

So bad. Bought ‘olive garden’ nothing like the picture.. much lighter and needed 4-5 coats.
Also bought ‘jasmine’ and I gave up. It was like painting with milk, and I’m painter by trade. Brand new wood. Absolutely awful product. You’d need at least 6-7 coats. Terrible stuff.

I bought a tin of Duckwax SilverCopse to paint my shed. Cleaned shed with sugar soap rinsed thoroughly and left to dry, warm sunny day. First coat OK but poor coverage. Second coat appeared to be 'dissolving' the first layer exposing the original surface in big patches. Three further coats later and problem still exists. Wish I had read these comments before purchasing the paint. Never again, three days wasted and now waiting for the rain to wash my efforts away. will attempt a refund from Homebase, dosnt appear Dulux are interested.

Cuprinol Garden Shades is useless. Used Daisy White and Dusky Gem. Both paints when thoroughly stirred were thinner than water, the pigment did not cover the wood work that had been sanded down. Five coats of the white and it still need more coats. The Dusky Gem, I applied the first coat yesterday afternoon and over night a little rain fell and the paint washed off. £44 down the drain. A total waste of money. I am very annoyed. And NO Cuprinol, if I reply to you, I'll only get a stock answer. I'm taking the product back to Homebase.
