The house itself was an embarrassing mess when we initially moved in, with many issues, which over a period of 2 years were fixed. That said some are still outstanding.


The paving, roads and landscaping remains unfinished; It is an absolute eye sore and a hazard; Raised drains, deteriorating road services, uneven and weedy footpaths.

Some of social housing, remains unmanaged with unsightly gardens plus and anti social behaviour ( so much for the hand picked residents, Bart) There have regular police visits over the last few years. Live West, who manage these houses, do little to nothing to manage or resolve.

As soon as the roads and paving are finished - it has finally adopted by the council - I'll sell up and go - probably at a loss.

It's an absolute dump. Burrington's are an absolute disgrace, the place looks like it's been abandoned. DO NOT buy into their BS vision of modern Luxury Eco homes.

Thus far I can only give 1* due to the lack of attention to detail and terrible customer service. Premium prices, shoddy customer care and zero communication about plans. They’ve now left site and there are still many things outstanding. We’ve been promised the site will be finished. Time will tell if this is merely lip service. Will repost with updates. Positive and/or negative.

All I can say at this stage, had I had the benefit of hindsight, I would have waited for a home on the new Heritage site in Topsham.

Avoid.

Poor finish, no post sales care. Dishonest. Don’t keep to promises.

Development should have been finished in 2021. Fed up with constant disruption of workmen and contractors. Manhole covers on drains constantly being dug up/drilled for best part of year. Road not tarmacked and barriers strewn everywhere. Can't reverse car out of space without hitting a barrier. Path access to village still not been built. No pavements or streetlights on busy road, so no safe access. Couldn't even sell this house because they hadn't registered the property after 1 year of having bought it. Biggest mistake I've ever made buying this house.

I am beyond words at this point at how terrible the service we've had throughout the whole house buying process with Burrington has been. A year after we have moved in and still lots of issues, false promises, unreliable help, incompetence and a lack of care in helping resolve our issues. Coupled with no admission of responsibility in regards to all these issues.

Steer clear.

Update 06/03/23 - we still have a multitude of snags to be finished, two years after moving in. Beyond a joke.

We moved in to our new house in July/2021 and there are still things to be fixed and more keep appearing. We would advise anybody that is thinking about buying a Burrington Estates home to not to buy it, they advertise a luxury home but that is only true on the price. The problems we had, and still have are not snags expected on new builds but really bad quality and not well finished. Poorly finished paintwork, the paint hasn't been cut in properly and you could see a line between the ceiling and the wall in all the rooms. Woodwork not rubbed down properly and doors only half painted. Tiles in the bathroom protruding from the wall with half the grout missing, the floor tile grout keeps breaking in the main bathroom and an inbuilt shelf is not level making it look completely sunken. The night light comes on when we walk past the door and not only when we go in the bathroom therefore it is on almost all day, they tried to fixed 3 times and can't manage to solve the problem. Every time they try to fix something it seems to get worse. All the door-frames in the house were cut short and it shows a gap between the floor and the frame and they just hid that with mastic. All the skirting boards had gaps in the joints because they didn't cut the corners at an angle, just butt jointed them. The boiler cabinet was too small and didn't cover the pipes properly looking awful. Under the sink the mesh rusted and not trimmed properly with jagged edges. The garden fence had pieces missing and you could see through to the neighbour’s garden. The garden lawn was put on rubble and did not have any top soil on top so was uneven and dangerous to walk on and the grass didn't grow properly because of that. A back wall in the garden was constructed with different materials so one half there is a nice stone at the bottom and other half has just bricks looking ugly and unfinished, Burrington Estates said that is our fault that we levelled the garden otherwise we wouldn't be able to see it. We wonder what, and how the other unseen parts of the house have been constructed. Our parking area is completely different from most all the other houses and have only tarmac instead of paving tiles. We feel cheated, we told them about most of these problems before we completed the sale when we visited the house and they said that everything would be repaired before the completion but nothing was done. When they got our money they just forgot about everything and now like other owners we have to keep chasing them to fix things. These are not luxury homes, we don't know how Burrington Estates say that, don't they check the houses before selling them? Do there workers really have the skill to build a house? To us it seems that they sold us an unfinished house but they keep saying to us that they sell luxury homes (we have all the pictures to prove it wrong) so these are not snags and the house really should be completely redone and be aware of the unprofessionalism of Burrington Estates, they don't care that my husband was recuperating from a cancer treatment and surgery and the stress they are putting us through is starting to affect our lives. We think that maybe it’s time to pursue other avenues to make Burrington Estates fulfil their obligations, only chasing them to fix all the problems is not working. We would give 0 stars if we could.

What can Burrington do to improve? Deliver on the attention to detail you promise on your website! We had lots of promises and paid over the odds for a house in what should be an amazing site (Stowford Mill). It took 9 months for Burrington to fix the majority of snags in our expensive home with the majority being down to lack of governance over the work. Some of the core materials are excellent but they continuously failed in the finishing quality. It felt like almost every snagging visited needed an extra two or three extra visits to fix snags on the repairs. All this after relentless chasing on our part. Here we are 15 months in, our garden is still unusable and Burrington are about to dig it all up again including uprooting the plants that we buried after they dug it all up last time promising to do the repair once and get it right on the first go (not counting building it badly in the first try.) We are now into the third attempt!😞
