I have about 3/4 British Retro dresses so don't think my experience was just a 'one off'.

I feel I have to express my frustration in the sizing of these dresses. I am a size 18 and in some shops, an 18 is sometimes even too baggy on me.

The belts that come with the dresses do not match the size of the dress. The belt fits as if it is made for 2 sizes smaller which makes the dress look ill fitting.

The petticoats also are not very good quality (not very fluffy, quite scratchy) and although are made to fit up to a size 18, the satin underskirt is so restricting that it cannot possibly be.

I beg you to please consider all of these when creating dresses in a size 18. We tend to be more voluptuous and your sizes do not cater for women's bodies.

Beautiful dress , perfect for the races that came much earlier than expected. The staff at British Retro reached it early as my delivery was supposed to be delayed over the Easter weekend. They asked if I wished for a refund which I thought was extremely considerate. Instead it arrived very early and came with a small brooch gift.

I will definitely be using again.

Came about this website by chance when looking for a dress for a special occasion coming up.
Initially I placed an order for the wrong colour (completely due to IT issues on my part), the complany were very helpful in rectifying this.
When I received the items, oh my word. Absolutely beautiful and top quality- packed perfectly, material excellent quality.
My first order with the company but will definitely not be the last- I cant stop smiling. For a girl that loves to be in jeans and crocs in the garden I have very quickly converted to a girl that wants to dress up.

I have now bought 2 dresses and petticoats from British Retro and I cant wait to be invited to another event that I can wear another one to. The quality is incredible for such a reasonable price. The styles are gorgeous and the choice of fabrics change so you always have a choice. Where items havent been right for me, they have always refunded with no quibbles.

I order a dress and sadly it was out of stock
They emailed to say they were sorry and offered me a 10% discount

Small Sizes and Extra Customs Costs for International Orders
I bought a dress from British Retro because the designs are beautiful and the quality of the clothing is good. However, the sizing runs extremely small. A size 8 or even a size 36 corresponds to about two sizes smaller than standard European sizing.

This becomes a significant issue when ordering internationally. In addition to the initial shipping cost, you may have to pay customs fees upon delivery. If the size doesn’t fit and you need to return the item, the process becomes quite expensive. Between registered international shipping, customs procedures, and other costs, returning a product can add up to around 40% of the original price.

I would also appreciate clearer information about these potential additional costs for international orders, so customers can make a more informed decision before purchasing.

I bought the Way out West Giant Sunflower 50's style swing dress for a works awards night.
The compliments started as I was waiting for the bus in Brighton, which as many know is a mecca for uniqueness and style.
I felt amazing and enjoyed the retro feel.
If you are between sizes I would recommend going up rather than down as had to return the 8 for a 10.
I lost a button on the night and the customer service replied almost immediately that they would send replacements out.
To summarise we need to support UK businesses as the quality is first class and the customer service is fantastic

I have placed two orders on this website.
The first order had some issues. The dresses are very beautiful and I like them, although one was made of very thin fabric that was very wrinkled (even after ironing), and some buttons were loose. One of the packages was lost, so I had to be very persistent with customer service to get the dresses sent to me again, in accordance with the rules.
The second time, I was very disappointed. I ordered two dresses, but I was surprised by their poor quality. Especially one of them, that is mainly made of polyester, which is uncomfortable to wear and very rough. It is really poor quality for a £105 dress. The reviews on this site about the bad customer service speak for themselves, so I didn't even try to send them back.
I wanted to pay by PayPal because the site offers this option, but in reality, every attempt to pay was unsuccessful!

I ordered a dress to wear for my son's wedding. It is stunning. True to size and beautifully made. From order to delivery was quick. I love the buy the look button. You can choose to buy the accessories. I have already put in another order.

I wouldn’t even give this company 1 star. My daughter has ordered several dresses from this site and for Xmas I thought I’d order her a surprise dress as she usually knows what’s she’s getting. I wrapped it and she opened it but wasn’t her style - didn’t try it on and didn’t remove any tags - didn’t need to try on because she knew it wasn’t the style she liked. They returned it back to me and said the tags had been removed clearly removing the tags themselves as probably didn’t want to lose the sale on the dress. Never will I ever order from them again. Mistrusting and all about what they can make money from customers is how I see it. Discusting and very disappointing

STUNNING COATS!

I am a customer in the US and I have been buying clothes from British Retro for at least 5 years now. ALL of their clothing is beautiful and very well made, but I am particularly fond of their coats! They are absolutely gorgeous and are made with wonderful quality. I always get compliments on them when I wear one of them. I love them so much that I have them in 9 different colors! If you're thinking of getting one (or 9), you should! You will love them!

excellent customer service, and as to my dress wow could not be more pleased, a beautiful dress, beautiful material and pockets too, this girl loves a pocket.

2nd outfit I have purchased from British Retro, the first was for my daughter's wedding, this new dress is for Christmas and I can't wait to wear it.

Fabulous clothes and stunning quality. Such a lovely company with excellent customer service. I recently purchased the red “From Kitty With Love” Christmassy dress and it is as beautiful as the pictures. Lovely crepe fabric and thick faux fur trim. I ordered size 8 and I am 5,2 tall, size 8 top and size 10 bottom and it fits perfectly. I also ordered the white petticoat and it looks perfect underneath. I bought their red Christmassy “Wonderland “ coat last year and again the quality is superb.

This is a repeat purchase for my Christmas work party and honestly, everyone gave me so many compliments. I absolutely love British Retro, and I’m so glad I finally got my hands on the Kitty dress this year after missing out last Christmas. The faux fur is the best quality, really soft, thick, and it feels so luxury.

I’ll definitely be back again! 🎄✨
