I COMPLETELY RIP OFF COMPANY RIPPING OFF STRUGGLING PEOPLE. I RECEIVED THREE PARKING TICKETS FOR OVERSTAYING WHILE I WAS A MEMBER AT THE PURE GYM IN CHESHUNT JOB, GOOGLE. THE GYM HAD NOT ADEQUATELY NOTIFIED MEMBERS THAT PARKING TIME HAD CHANGED FROM FOUR HOURS TO 3. I OBVIOUSLY APPEALED TO BPA AND WAS TOLD THERE WASN’T ADEQUATE INFORMATION REGARDING THE TICKETS. I EXPLAINED I HADN’T INTENTIONALLY OVERSTAYED. I HADN’T. I HAD JUST NOT BEEN SUFFICIENTLY INFORMED OF THE CHANGE IN TIME ALOUD WHICH WAS TEMPORARY AS I WAS TOLD BY PUREGYM IT WAS STILL FOUR HOURS WHEN I WAS WELL UNDER FOUR HOUR TIME I APPEALED MANY TIMES TO THIS COMPANY BPA AND THE APPEAL PROCESS IS SLOW PROBABLY IN THE HOPE THAT THE FINAL WILL INCREASE FROM £60 A TICKET TO £100 A TICKET. AND OBVIOUSLY THEIR APPEALS FAILED. THIS COMPANY IS JUST A COMPLETE AND UTTER RIP-OFF.

The “Scientific Observation” Review
As a scientist (in the sense that I once watched a documentary), I feel qualified to report that this parking association is a fascinating case study in organisational entropy.
Their systems appear to run on a complex algorithm known as “pure guesswork.” Their signage is so unclear it should come with a translator. And their enforcement strategy seems to be based on the lunar cycle.
I attempted to contact them for clarification, but their phone line is like Bigfoot — many claim it exists, but no one has ever actually reached it.
In conclusion: if you want a parking experience that doubles as a psychological experiment, look no further.

Absolute scammers! Sent a fine through the post for unpaid parking? with the threat of increasing this "Make believe fine" Luckily parking was paid by contactless payment on the parking meter, 2 hours paid, stayed 1 hour 10 minutes. Certainly wont be parking their again! And leaving a bad review for the place in question because of your criminal activity.

The legalish aspect of the UK parking and fraud scam, one day soon it’ll all go pop, until then they’ll take ya money

This lot will ask you to collate a huge amount of information to look at your claim and will then take months to even start.
Once they have started, they will of course hand wave away any complaints and state that the parking companies involved have done nothing wrong. Unsurprising given that they are funded by said parking companies.
Don't waste your time; Just bring the parking companies to court and cut out POPLA and the BPA.

I am extremely disappointed with the BPA’s approval of GB Parking’s signage in the St Matthews area of Leicester. The signage is unclear, inconsistent and appears deliberately designed to create confusion, particularly for Blue Badge holders.
Within the same area, there are conflicting signs about whether Blue Badge holders are permitted to park. Some signs suggest allowances, while others remove them entirely, without clear positioning, wording, or prominence. This lack of consistency creates a trap for disabled drivers who rely on clear and accessible information to park lawfully.
Approving such signage is unacceptable. It fails basic standards of clarity, fairness, and accessibility. Disabled people should not be penalised because parking operators choose vague wording and poor layout to maximise penalties rather than ensure compliance.
By approving GB Parking’s signage, the BPA is effectively endorsing practices that disadvantage and target disabled motorists. This raises serious concerns about whether the BPA is genuinely committed to protecting the public or simply supporting private parking operators at the expense of fairness and equality.
The current system does not feel impartial. It feels stacked against drivers, particularly disabled drivers, who are placed in impossible situations by misleading signage. The BPA must urgently review and revoke approval for signage that is unclear and discriminatory in practice.

My elderly mother received a PCN for shopping at a COOP store for 27 minutes. The instructions where unclear and she didn't see any terms and conditions. She tried to appeal but the company website wasn't working so appealed by letter. She got an escalation of the fine. She wrote a complaint asking for a reasonable adjustment that I act on her behalf as she is elderly and gets confused easily. I visited the car park and found no signs with terms and conditions on. No reply from parking firm so escalated to BPA.
BPA closed the case without responding to either of us. One day after they wrote asking for evidence which I sent. Then nothing from them despite attempts to communicate with them.
My expectations were they would respond within stated timescales and treat the case impartially and fairly. Not just ignore it.
There is lots more to this story however if BPA you read this and like to get in touch the reference is BPA-066290
Please note that both BPA and the parking firm have been passed information from my elderly mother stating that she wants me to act on her behalf. Plus I have passed them both documents stating that I have Lasting Power of Attorney. There should be no reason why this have to be demonstrated multiple times.

@The BPA - appalling company of dubious morals. In collusion with parking companies charging £100 if no ticket bought - often using obscure parking signs or difficult ways of paying. Fine letter arrived late and missed the £60 window. This could feed a couple for a week but lining their pockets is their aim.

Parked my car at Manchester Airport at APCOA express pick up, no ways to pay the charge other than the obsolete useless calling a telephone number and pay, after paying drove off but because of the rush could not leave early and end up over stay for 1 min, the fraudster APCOA company has send me a £60 penalty notice, this criminal activity is going on under cover of BPA and the responsible government authorities are not bothered to put a hold to these crimi nals, the lesson I learned to stop using Manchester Airport in future and select any other airport for foreign travel

Pointless association, their “accreditations” are a joke that have no interest in making these parking companies more professional or in any way accountable. Parking is worse everywhere and all the BPA does is facilitate this and make it more expensive. No point of even trying to communicate with them!

We recently completed our Park Access assessment with the BPA, and I cannot speak highly enough of the professionalism and guidance provided by Naomi Parsons and Antony Powell. Both were incredibly knowledgeable, responsive, and supportive throughout the process. Their approach was transparent, constructive, and genuinely collaborative - helping us navigate the requirements with confidence.
It’s refreshing to work with people who clearly care about raising industry standards while maintaining a balanced, professional tone. A credit to the BPA team - thank you again for the excellent experience.

Not interested in behaviour of their members. They were given a clear example of a member allowing payment of a PCN, but with the same details not allowing an appeal - details were mysteriously not recognised for an appeal. British Parking couldn’t give a stuff replied with a copy and paste

My mother, a disabled Blue Badge holder, appealed a UKPC parking charge in June 2025. Royal Mail records confirm her appeal was delivered on 11 June, yet UKPC ignored it, escalated the charge to debt recovery, and pressured her into paying £171.50 under duress.
This denied her access to the BPA-mandated independent appeals process (POPLA) and breached the BPA Code of Practice, which explicitly prohibits escalation while an appeal is pending. Despite multiple submissions of proof, BPA has failed to intervene or enforce its own standards.
The handling of this case has caused significant distress to a disabled pensioner, highlighting not only a disregard for proper process but also a lack of consideration for the Equality Act 2010.
BPA must do more than simply “affiliate” companies — it must hold them accountable. Ignoring clear breaches undermines public confidence and brings the entire system into disrepute.

I wrote to the BPA in the middle of June to complain about a parking company. No reply.
I wrote again in the middle of July. No reply.
I emailed BPA on their actual online complaint form in early August. No
reply.
I'm now trying to find out how I actually raise a complaint against the BPA.
Shocking company. Although I shouldn't have expected anything else from a company funded by the actual private parking cowboys that they are supposed to hold to account
Update 26/8_25
Reply from BPA below. Side stepped the issue, as with every other reply in these comments. Already replied to the operator in the first place. That's why I came to the BPA!!!!
Utter waste of time contacting BPA.
As others have said, useless paper tigers. Even their emails go straight to junk folder. Ironic!

I’m deeply disappointed that the British Parking Association (BPA) continues to accredit CUP Enforcement — a company that appears to profit from issuing questionable PCNs (Penalty Charge Notices), often in cases where people have done nothing wrong. I recently received a penalty for merely stopping briefly to pick someone up, well within reasonable time — yet CUP Enforcement pursued it with aggressive tactics.
How can BPA allow such practices to continue under their approval? Isn’t BPA supposed to uphold fairness and transparency in the parking industry? Instead, it seems they’re enabling private operators to exploit technicalities and mislead innocent drivers.
This isn't about managing parking — it’s about generating revenue from unsuspecting people through unfair means. The BPA urgently needs to review how it vets and monitors its accredited members. Trust is eroding fast.
