From the moment we arrived, we could clearly see how immaculate and clean the whole place is, especially for its age. The staff and volunteers clearly care very deeply, and their dedication right down to their costume gives a more realistic back in time image. Ideally you need a couple of hours to view the museum and steam shed, as well as enjoying just sitting and watching trains from the the platform or the cafe, before boarding and making your journey. The carriages are very comfortable, much more than todays trains, whilst the onboard buffet also adds to the whole experience, although it is paper cups and modern snacks; maybe that could be improved to give a more vintage real effect. However, will definitely visit again.

Christmas Santa Express trip was fabulous. Booked a carriage compartment and took the family including 3 grandkids. Place was buzzing with Christmas spirit. Station staff dressed in period uniforms were so friendly and welcoming. Merry go round at the station was great for the kids. Train took us to the next station where Santas grotto was located. Short queue then we all went in to meet the big man. He was amazing with the kids and they all got a present and got to chat to Santa. On the platform was a vintage fun fair which again the kids loved. Food and drinks were reasonably priced. The kids got to go inside the engine that was taking us back and talk to the drivers, see the fire box etc. Then back on the train return journey. Then a walk around the engine shed full of old steam engines. Thoroughly enjoyable visit. Highly recommended.

Amazing staff so friendly and very knowledgeable about the railway and about the history and had all the time in the world for our disabled son who loves it there and has been a number of times with us tonight we went for the steam lights and what a amazing and magical experience he loved it all and was so happy to be able to go on the footplate as well what I believe made his experience tonight that extra special

We had the delight of attending the first ever Ghost Train event on Friday, and it was absolutely brilliant! From the spooky arrival of the train to the fantastic actors, everything was dramatic, beautifully organised, and great fun. We had a wonderful night thanks to everyone’s hard work and planning. Highly recommend — we’ll definitely be back!

We went to the Bluebell Railway for a special event - Lazer Jet Fan Day. For our son this was absolutely brilliant, meeting an idol, someone who is in station al especially for those who are neurodivergent.
The railway put on such a wonderful welcome and their support was unquestionable. The team from the train drivers, platform staff, kiosk were just so welcoming and engaging. John who supported Lazer Jet and the fans was just amazing.
The railway was incredible so informative and well Maintained. Beautiful stations. Would highly recommend a visit to the railway.

Went here yesterday for a wedding, honestly we all had a tremendous time! It felt like going back in time, watching the world go by. Staff were very friendly and attentive; as well as delicious food. Would highly recommend anyone to come here as they put on a great experience, 10/10!

This was a excellent experience. The steam light experience was outstanding. This was a fully wheelchair accessible the staff were there to support you getting on and off the train. The staff were excellent and offered a first class service from the booking team to the staff on the day. We will definitely be go again next year.

What a stunning place, dripping with nostalgia, from the moment you arrive you are transported to another Era, we went on the Christmas evening pullman train fantastic food and service, you step onto that platform and you are in 1920s,, with carol singers at one station and the Christmas lights periodically appearing along the journey , exceptional value evening.
