After the over charge you they gracious tell you there is nothing they can do for you then thank you for understanding?!
Didn't even try to help... could have just given me a credit towards BJs, but couldn't be bothered. They will not get anymore of my money after my year is up..Already double paid for it so I guess I reluctantly will use it. I will be sure to tell all how horrible they were when there is issues!! If I could give them a MINUS score I work!!! Whole experience was frustrating and upsetting!!
Sams or Costco here in come!!!
Ooh and BJs credit card will be cut up tooo!!!

Inconvenience

I visit my local store and tried to find an electric cart. When I walked in the door the first thing you see is 6 cart full of item and the anti got was oh I’m sorry but they are out of order. I was like really. Then my husband when outside in thankfully he found one. I have a knee replacement few weeks ago and that’s the reason why I needed that cart. You guys need to do better.

Rotted Produce Being Sold

Two weeks in a row, I bought the large bag of oranges, 8 or 10 lbs each, both times, more than half are rotted. In all my years as a club member, I have never bought any produce from BJ's. This was my first and will be my last. Today, 3-21-26, I bought the 10lb bag of the Sunkist Oranges #3338311014 and out of 12 oranges in the bag, 8 are rotted. THESE ARE GOING BACK TODAY FOR MY MONEY BACK. Two weeks back, the first bag of oranges purchased, I figured it was a rare scenario so I just lived with it. This second bag purchase is no different than the first. I do not recommend buying "any produce" from BJ's BECAUSE NO ONE IS THERE CHECKING THE PRODUCT.

BJ's / Instacart Unreliable

Subject: Failure to Provide Paid Grocery Delivery Service – Senior Consumer Reliance

I am a paying member of BJ’s Wholesale Club and have also purchased their “Select Service” delivery option, for a combined annual cost of approximately $110. These services are marketed as providing reliable home grocery delivery.

I am a senior citizen and do not drive. I rely on this service as my primary means of obtaining groceries and essential household items.

Despite paying for both membership and delivery access, I have repeatedly been unable to place or complete orders due to widespread item unavailability. On multiple occasions, items across my cart are marked “unavailable,” preventing order fulfillment entirely or rendering the service functionally unusable.

This is not an isolated incident but an ongoing pattern. The issue is not limited to substitutions or minor inconveniences; rather, the system frequently fails at the point of order completion, meaning I cannot obtain groceries at all through the service I am paying for.

BJ’s utilizes Instacart as its fulfillment provider. However, from a consumer standpoint, BJ’s is the entity charging membership and service fees and representing that grocery delivery is available. The separation between BJ’s and Instacart is not transparent to the consumer and does not reduce the impact of the service failure.

As a result, I have paid for a service that I cannot reliably use, while also being placed in a position where access to food is disrupted. As a non-driving senior, I cannot reasonably avoid this harm once I have committed to the service.

I believe this may constitute an unfair or deceptive business practice, in that consumers are charged for a service that is not consistently deliverable in practice.

South Philly BJs is there worst!!!! Shop anywhere else! They have no carts for customers to shop. The customers have to harass other customers in the parking lot to get a cart. The general manager has no solution. Just apologies & no solutions. I’ve been waiting for a cart for more than 20mins! How can a store who sells items in bulk only not have carts available?

Illegally taxed! (Resolved)

ATTENTION EVERYONE WHO SHOPS AT BJs! PLEASE THOROUGHLY CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS FOR FALSIFIED TAXING PRACTICES!

In Deptford, NJ, I just purchased a vacuum that was originally priced @ $109.99 on sale for $89.99. Paid for it, got home, looked at the receipt and they overcharged me with the tax! I paid $7.29 for tax, but should have paid $5.96 (difference $1.33). They charged me tax for the full price, not the sale price. In NJ, you pay tax (6.625%) on the amount you actually paid for (on taxable items). No more, no less. I WAS CHARGED 8.1%!

For example, if you purchased something on sale for $10 that is originally $1000, would you settle for paying MORE for the tax ($66.25) than the purchase price of $10?! I THINK NOT!

THIS IS AN ILLEGAL BUSINESS PRACTICE!

They SERIOUSLY need to review their taxing codes on all taxable sale prices!

I am now in the process of getting this rectified. I will update when this is resolved.

I wonder how long they have been doing this and ripping people off left and right.

If they do not correct this issue then a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT may take place upon many people they have "stolen" money from.

I texted first, then called and both say the same thing...
"You are taxed the full price if there was a coupon applied." In that case, I am left paying 8.1% tax. Since the amount overcharged is small, I'll let this go. But BEWARE for any future purchases and watch out if coupons are applied! That's where they get you.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been through this, but in my many years of shopping and always checking my receipts, this is the first time this has ever happened.

I'm only raising from 1 to 3 stars as this doesn't really seem fair for the buyer.

Myrtle Beach Store

I had an experience at your Myrtle Beach location yesterday that I still can't even believe. I went in with a nearly flat tire at a little after 4 p.m.

and the manager refused to help me. I told him I had my daughter in the car and he told me that 'wasn't his problem' and that he was 'trying to get out of there for the day.' I told him I had a spare and begged him to put it on for me because I didn't have any tools with me, and he literally told me that there were 'at least 5 other tire places in the area' and to go somewhere else. I told him I was going to report him and he literally laughed and said, 'Good, go ahead.' I went up to the front of the store to customer service and told the manager what happened. She went back there with me and he had already left.

An elderly gentleman who worked there helped me with my tire, but it is not okay for a so-called 'manager' to treat customers like this.

Especially not a woman with her child in the car. I will be cancelling my membership and, as a journalist, I will be posting about this experience to my 150,000 followers on X.

I went to BJ's on February 10th to place an order for cupcakes for February 27th by 11:00 it was for my grandson's birthday when I went to pick up the cupcakes they have misplaced the order they didn't have no cupcakes ready did Lady working there at that time it was a different lady who took the order she was very nice and polite she prepared me the 24 cupcakes but they were Frozen for kids to eat frozen cupcake is not healthy I talked to the manager and what did he say he couldn't do nothing I will not recommend ordering stuff in the bakery side if that lady is the one that's going to take your order please be aware to check a couple of days before the order is supposed to be done so make sure they don't misplace your order also I was very disappointed otherwise the rest of the store is good I also order from the deli a special order and when I pick it up it was the same order that I placed they did a fabulous job I think that you hire more responsible personal to work in the bakery.

Online and phone service a horror 5-7…

Online and phone service a horror 5-7 day delivery 3weeks demanded order cancellation BJs initially refused. Got American Express involved. Took weeks to get my money refunded. Continued to receive tracking info stating my item was route weeks after Cancellation and of course your having to get thru an overseas call center to talk to. Anyone with authority still being told they can’t issue a refund until THEIR SHIPPER returns the item to their warehouse. This was not a return the item weeks late was NEVER delivered.Finally drove 20 miles to Best Buy and got the same item 40$ cheaper. They don’t seem to care.

I placed my order online and had them deliver it to my car. This young kid named Jesse brought me my order. He was extremely polite and very friendly. It was a very busy night as everyone was getting stocked up for the blizzard coming our way. He continued to tell me how he was working to save for a car and rode his bike to work. He was probably the most responsible employee that I have encountered picking up my orders from BJ’s.

Pick up order expiration dates and pecan halves that taste like dirt

I’ve been a loyal customer for as long as they have been in Pensacola. Generally, I have a good experience there and sales associates are helpful. However, on my most recent pick up order there were two issues. They brought out the black label bacon in microwave pouches, and I wanted to check the expiration date because they had previously given me one with an expiration date was less than a week away, and I had to go back to the store and swap it out. Just like on the previous occasion, this one had an expiration date of a week out, and I said I didn’t want it unless they had something dated further out and the young man left and looked for quite some time and came back and said it was the only one in the store and they would just have to do a refund. On this same pick up order I bought the 2 pound bag of pecan halves, and upon opening them just to have a few as a snack, I discovered that they taste like dirt. I used a sieve strainer and tried to shake out as much dirt as possible, coating my sink and then also wiping down the inside of the bag since you could see it was coated with grit. The result of all that work being that they tasted a little less like dirt. Don’t buy the Wellesley Farms pecan halves.

Violation of customer and people rights

I’ve been a BJ’s member for over 7 years. I’ve witnessed a lot of changes, people running away with TV and more through the exit or emergency doors. And more. Today, Feb.2026 I realized this store doesn’t respect customers o and violate people’s right. Not only their prices spiked twice but also they decided they have to check customers personal purse or bags before going out of the store without any notice, or reasons. They don’t even have a warranty to do so, which I find illegal. The only reason I complied, it was because of the lady at the door, she worked there for so long, and I didn’t want her to get in trouble with the manager. That is a violation of the customers and citizens rights. No one is allowed to search up your personal items if there’s no warranty and a purpose, and a reason for it. I’m canceling my membership with this company. Shame of them. I visited BJ’s from Cutler Bay, 33157 in Florida.

Unauthorized Renewal and Broken Refund Promise

I am leaving a 1 out of 5 star review due to an unauthorized membership renewal charge and the failure to issue a promised refund.

On January 1st, BJ’s charged a $60 membership renewal fee to my credit card without my authorization. I later learned this was part of a policy they recently implemented. However, I received notification of the automatic renewal only after the charge had already been processed. Customers should be clearly informed in advance and required to provide explicit authorization before a renewal charge is made.

After multiple calls to their toll-free number without being able to speak to an actual person, I tried resolving this matter in person at the store. I was told that the store does not handle these issues and that I needed to call the membership number. The refund was eventually issued through an automated system that confirmed the refund and provided a confirmation number. Despite this, the refund was never applied to my account. As a result, the charge remained on my credit card statement and led to a late fee and interest being added. I ultimately had to file a charge dispute with Capital One in order to recover both the unauthorized charge and the additional fees.

If BJ’s wants to improve, it should not process renewal charges without clear customer authorization, and it should ensure that when a refund confirmation number is provided, the refund is actually processed. Customers should not have to escalate to a credit card dispute to correct an internal billing issue.

This situation created unnecessary stress, additional fees, and multiple phone calls to resolve what should have been a simple matter. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend BJ’s and will be leaving a 1-star rating.

I have canceled my membership and will not be returning.

Gas Discount Issue

Recently had an issue with BJ's over one of their gas promotions. An online chat agent told me that if I went into my local store, they would honor that fact that my $150 total order was split up over two receipts within the required timeframe to earn the promotion. Typically you have to have it one receipt, but they said they would make an exception, it's a common exception and should be no big deal.

It was eventually resolved... After a flurry of messages and phone calls with customer service. Way to hard to resolve something so simple.
