DISGUSTING EXPERIENCE - AVOID AT ALL COSTS
My wife and son went swimming. I went to pick them up at the end. We receive a PCN Fine for £100 and are informed that I was in the car park for 1 minute 20 seconds too long! Is it a customer car park or is it not a customer car park??? I was a customer going in and out of the car park. How grossly disgusting is it to fine a customer £100 for being in a customer car park! So 50 minutes of swimming has now become £111 (people cannot afford this kind of stupidity at this moment in time). Suffice to say we'll never return and you will lose any future income and I will tell all family and friends and anyone I talk to avoid this nasty place. It's old and tired and dirty anyway so just go to Swim Central instead of this revolting place! They trick you by not making the parking rules clearer - it's not visible enough on their website, the email booking that you actually read has no information about this, it's not clear in the car park there is a camera and if you are going in with kids you'll likely be too distracted to see the kiosk. I think that the management of this place needs to get their heads examined as the customer should be treated nicely and they are just going to end up closed - I think that this place needs to get shut down. You can see it's decline in the reviews on various sites - it's useless! They are no help with the parking fine and from reading other people experiences customers are treated horribly - it's just not the way to behave when running a business. It's totally shameful and utterly disgusting in everyway! You need to make some changes starting with getting rid of that parking camera. The company that runs the parking camera has no way of contacting them (not email and you can't talk to them 1-2-1 on the phone) so they hide digitally and you cannot even try and get a resolution. I reckon they ignore the appeals and let the fines get bigger and bigger for their own benefit - these two are in the scam together. Do not go to this leisure centre - stay clear of it - they don't care about their customers at all - you're just a cash cow! I hope this place gets closed down! It's the most disgusting experience ever!!!

To clarify, the car park is indeed intended for customer use, but it is managed by an external parking control company with automatic enforcement systems in place. Unfortunately, we do not have direct control over the issuing or cancellation of fines, but we always aim to support our customers where we can in appealing unfair charges.

Was incredibly disappointed
Was incredibly disappointed, from the dirty pool to the rude life guards. Having booked and paid in good faith we arrived to find the small pool out of bounds and an incredibly small area that younger children could use. This was heavily policed by a life guard who spent the entire visit telling children off. Even when an old gentleman got in and stood directly behind behind my daughter and granddaughter, he just watched all the little girls and when I pointed out that he was making children uncomfortable the life guard said it was impossible to do anything because he was a regular, surely children’s safety should be a priority. It was incredibly dirty from the pool to the changing rooms. Don’t visit.

The gym looks really nice on first…
The gym looks really nice on first appearance but on using the rowing machines all the foot straps keep coming loose and so your foot hurts, the tv links do not work on the bike machines which have them. One of the bikes it is extremely difficult to press the screen to up the torque. The card games are very hard work on the touch screen to use. There was no air con on the equipment or in the room (they just had windows open, but no breeze) we had been members of the Marriott Gym and could not afford to keep it up, so was expecting the same standard really.

Won't be using this place again, getting a £100 fine for not typing my reg in when using the car park to take my kids swimming, even though I provided receipts showing I paid for the time I was there. Absolute joke of a place and no way to treat customers

We’ve just received a letter from…
We’ve just received a letter from Fulwood Leisure Centre about parking in their car park, despite being members. This is the first letter we've received, and I immediately went to reception to sort it out. After emailing them, they responded by saying they’ve already sent it to debt collectors and can only reduce the fine by £20. This is absolutely ridiculous.
We’ve complained multiple times about the foul smell in the sauna, the steam room not working, and yet now we’re slapped with an £80 fine? That’s completely out of order. I will be withdrawing my membership and refuse to pay this fine. I’m more than willing to take this to court.
To anyone considering joining Fulwood Leisure Centre, think twice.

Terrible experience with staff
Staff is very rude and unhelpful. If there is any problem they’ll not solve it and will tell you to call customer service. And when you call customer service and they tell you something staff will say they don’t know anything they are sitting in Ireland.

Sometimes there are issues that cannot be dealt with at centre level with access etc so they will refer you to our customer service team.
We have two teams, one based in Belfast and one in London. All staff in these teams are highly trained and work tirelessly to support all of our customers and so I apologise if you have had a different experience.

Fun learning, value for money
My son loved his first swim lesson. The instructors made the lesson fun but I could also see my son learn skills that could save his life one day. We are really excited to go back next week.

I recently visited Fulwood Leisure Centre, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. There are a few significant drawbacks that potential visitors should be aware of.
Firstly, after enjoying the sauna and steam room, I was disappointed to find that there were no cold showers available. This is quite an oversight, as a cold shower is essential for cooling down and closing pores after using these facilities. Moreover, both the sauna and steam room has an unpleasant, musty smell that made the experience less enjoyable.
Another issue is the swimming pool's availability. It's impossible to swim throughout the day due to the constant schedule of swimming lessons. While it's great that the centre offers these classes, it significantly limits access for regulars who simply want to swim for leisure or exercise following use of the gym/sauna/steam room.
Additionally, the centre operates on a cashless basis. However, they charge you in cash for the lockers. This inconsistency is not only inconvenient but also confusing for visitors who are expected to adhere to a cashless policy yet still need to carry cash for locker use.
Overall, while Fulwood Leisure Centre has potential, these issues need to be addressed to provide a better experience for all visitors. Until then, I would hesitate to recommend this centre for a seamless and enjoyable visit.

Enjoyable experience
I have been a member of my local gym for almost 15 years. It's great to be able to pay an annual fee & use all the facilities ( Pool, Gym, Sauna) with classes if you want them. The staff are always polite and friendly if you need any help with the equipment. Special thanks to Gavin in admin for helping out with my renewal (which I made a mess of!) I always enjoy my visits and look forward to many more.
