Very good customer service at this gym
Very good customer service at this gym. Any issues are ironed out quickly. Gym is a bit basic (no calf raise machines which a lot of leisure centres don't seem to have - no idea why) but if you know what you are doing, it's not a problem. Good atmosphere and doesn't get too busy.

Coldharbour centre Pilates…
Coldharbour centre Pilates and Meditation are excellent with knowledgable instructors and a good size studio, although sometimes cold. The male showers are always clean and hot. It is a real shame however that Better have imposed a new restriction on the music the instructors may use, which I understand has caused considerable grief within their community. If this is anything to do with PRS licensing it is very short sighted. As a musician myself and member of the MU I feel it is regretful that Better are taking away income from the musicians who provide this important resource. I sincerely hope that the decision is reversed, and the inevitable decline in membership, attendance to classes, and your loyal instructors do not suffer as a consequence.

We understand how important music is to the fitness experience, and we've listened to your concerns.
This change is necessary because streaming services like Spotify or Apple Music are licensed for personal use only and cannot legally be used in commercial settings - including on our premises. Non-compliance can result in a fine.
Power Music is the world’s No. 1 source for workout music, and gives our instructors access to over 10,000 songs, while also providing them with the option to use pre-mixed and custom-mixed playlists and make tempo changes. Many UK gym and leisure operators use it for its flexibility and to enhance class engagement and enjoyment - at no cost to instructors.
As a charitable social enterprise, we need to manage our costs for long-term sustainability. Moving to Power Music helps us meet our responsibility to protect services and safeguard colleagues.

I really like the feel of the gym but it needs a bit of an update. Some machines are so close together they knock on one another. Missing some machines which other centres have. I do like it though and will keep going. Could do with some mirrors near the stretching area.

Staff are very helpful lots of assistance when I wanted to sign up. My gym is a small
Centre but everyone is friendly and it’s not too busy and the classes and instructors are great

Ben is an asset to Better's customer services team
My husband has accidentally cancelled my direct debit, and although reinstating the account was not possible, I was advised to create a new one, with the admin fee credited back to my account as a goodwill gesture. Then, I had a problem with my password, which was also rectified within minutes once reported. Throughout all of this, I was helped by Ben - initially on the phone, then via email. The responses were almost immediate, and the service and willingness to help were unparalleled. I've had a few issues with Better in the past and must say that most complaints weren't addressed in a similar manner while some aren't resolved until today (e.g. having the AC switched on at all times in the Coldharbour Leisure Centre because staff are trying to save electricity and don't care about the comfort of the gym users). However, on this occasion, Ben was courteous, polite, friendly and most importantly very effective, and he deserves mention. Thank you, Ben.
