Experience likened to an episode of Fawlty Towers
Table booked for 12.30 x 4 people. First impression grand building and greeted nicely from reception who pointed us in direction of restaurant. 12.25 by then and rope across restaurant presumably manage saying we are not ready yet we will call you take a seat in lounge. No call and lounge had emptied of other diners so at 12.45 we took ourselves into restaurant seated nice table near open window. Drinks order first..2 wines and 1 J20 then my choice I was told no to 3 choices which were ginger beer Fentimens/Rose lemonade/then finally tomato juice eventually they said they had ginger ale!! The first course went well then for the second course 3 dishes were served up and one for me which being a vegetarian was not what I asked for apolggies all round we will get it for you. I was served a small plate of vegetable as a gesture from chef then told no mushrooms for the Wellington at which time I told them to forget the meal realising full well that it hadn't been made atall!! Dessert followed 3 strawberry sponges and 1 ice cream .. the strawberry! on the top of each dessert was still frozen!!
We were offered and accepted complimentary coffee.
Overall dirty cutlery dirty mugs for coffee and dirty glasses for the water which we had to ask for a jug of. Yes we were using a Groupon voucher but thank goodness we didn't pay full price. An absolute farce just like Fawlty Towers in a nightmare all the staff need to be retrained and I suggest chef is retrained also. Such a lovely building masking a dreadful experience and I doubt we are the only ones.
