Disappointed but appreciate the experience

I normally do not write a review
I raised a query for a medical injury claim.
It is clear if there is no loss of limb or death then a case would not merit support.this is proven by there suggestion i find another solicitor

Attwaters estate administration

Attwaters estate administration, over 24 months and still no end in sight all along their fee meter keeps ticking. This results in their estimate of the final bill ever increasing. Not a complicated estate and they were given all the information. Over 12 months with a paperwork issue but they have not come to a conclusion. But expect you to jump at the drop of a hat unless you want to get blamed for slowing the process down. Most of what they do is to cover their own backs.

Good overall service

We found that communication was good with calls and emails always responded too.
We did have to chase things on a couple of occasions but I’m sure this was due to the solicitors work load.

Complaint Regarding Unprofessionalism and Emotional Distres



My experience dealing with Att Waters Solicitors has been indescribable. Over the course of my case, I faced a lack of updates, constant changes in solicitors, and unprofessional behavior. I was subjected to aggressive demands for payment with no clear breakdown of costs, and I received no information about the progress of my case
The lack of communication, transparency, and professionalism has made this process incredibly frustrating.

Painful experience, no response to emails, only when reporting them to senior partners

After initially speaking to one of their solicitors, I decided to instruct them to deal with a landlord dispute. However, once instructing them, it turned out that the Solicitor I spoke with had left. Nevertheless, I placed money on account with them, sent over a plethora of files, and had a Solicitor review the files, and advise me on the steps to take. One of which was to request clarification on a few things that the Solicitors could not understand.

However, then THAT solicitor left the company, and I was left dealing with no less than three different trainee Solicitors, who kept asking the same questions, to which I had already answered, but coudn't grasp the situation completely.

Throughout all this I kept expressing my frustration that they didn't seem to understand things, but they barely responded to emails, and when they DID, they would go over the same things.

We then went a period of almost TWO MONTHS without any response, and then when I finally emailed to say "Look, why is it taking so long?" they replied back within an hour with what can only be described as a letter to close this case, without actually addressing my concerns.

They sent a letter out to the wrong people on my behalf, and had the nerve to say "as a gesture of good will, we've not included any costs for the letter sent to the wrong addressee, but have charged for the preparation of this."

Maybe this is just a fault of the trainee solicitors, but I would definitely NOT recommend them to anyone.

Furthermore, despite complaining several times, I've received no apology or explanation.

Not once did they call me on the phone, at times it felt like those automatic response chat bots.

Attwaters Jamison Hill

Attwaters Jamison Hill. Mmmmm.after being recommended to me and my late mother to make our wills and in her case them to be her executors. How shall i say an absolute farst...No urgency regarding our mothers estate.Junior handling this has to go to the senior partners most times.Late putting probate in and then apologised, now will have pay interest on the estate 7 percent pa.Have to phone and prompt for a reply and check to see if any thing has been done . Share certificates tax voucher still in the deceased name nearly a year later.....costs are mounting kerching £££££. But assured they know what they are doing ....Hahaha (Ware Branch )

Ceyda Alkan is Horrible

Caution Regarding Professional Negligence in Conveyancing Services: It has come to our attention that Ms. Ceyda Alkan, formerly employed at BSPLaw, submitted incorrect documents to HM Land Registry in September 2021. A formal complaint regarding this professional misconduct has been filed with her previous employer for further investigation.

Money first talk later!

Not sure what’s wrong with these guys! They insisted their company policy is to take money in advance before even assessing the case in hand! In my case they asked for £800 before they would effectively get out of bed! When my case was briefly put forward to them they were not able to remotely indicate its potential! They didn’t appear to know what I was talking about, if you need leasehold/Freehold advice don’t waste your time, time is money! Clearly! Amazing!

Brilliant solicitors

This is the 2nd time I’ve used Attwaters, they were great the first time 9 yrs ago & the same again, in particular Lauren Jones, conveyancing assistant, has been amazing, always replying within an hour, making things easy & being very supportive & efficient in dealing with everything. Highly recommended

Dreadful, Dishonest and Damaging

We were advised that the beneficiaries would receive some 30% less than we ultimately did. When the original figures were advised, we asked for them to be rechecked and reconfirmed and were assured they were correct, net of inheritance tax, etc.

Many plans were made by the family on the back of the figures disclosed and reconfirmed (in writing)

Upon distribution, we were told the amount would be 30% lower than advised causing not only huge stress and upset but material damage to future plans already set in motion.

The fact was casually put in an email with 'apologies if this causes any inconvenience' just minutes before the individual was to then be unavailable for the weekend. I did get through to him to be told what turned out to be a lie - that he had double counted an investment, whereas we ultimately learned he hadn't deducted inheritance tax. Totally inexcusable.

The managing partner showed little interest in our case and has made a derisory compensation offer and not a penny reduction to their fees.

In summary an awful experience littered not only with mistakes causing mental anguish and material damage, but followed up by poor and insulting customer service.

Will use again and again

I needed assistance with a personal injury claim (Harlow office) and everyone from the first response team to my claim handler (Tatsiana Ellice) was very professional, informative, and very helpful. Would definitely use again and will recommend it to everyone!

Dishonesty by Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors in Harlow Essex

This is a summary of the very poor and dishonest service received from Attwaters Jameson Hill:

• Attwaters Jameson Hill took on the case with an established relationship with the Council I have a dispute with. SRA Code of Conduct states that the law firm cannot act where there is a conflict of interest or risk of conflict of interest

• Attwaters Jameson Hill did not chase the Council’s insurers for a response that took 8 months – this is contrary to Civil Procedure Rules where there is a maximum time limit of 3 months in complex cases

• Attwaters Jameson Hill did NOT know that the Council’s insurer was NOT going to handle the response to their letter, but instead a law firm – that I had to inform them of

• The law firm wrote to Attwaters Jameson Hill to falsely claim that they did not know what Attwaters Jameson Hill were claiming for! This Attwaters Jameson Hill regarded as a “strong denial”

• The law firm writing back to Attwaters Jameson Hill advised that they did not know why the Robbins case was quoted, when the Council pruned the trees by just 20% and a study named Hortlink states that pruning should be severe at 70-90% and the Robbins case relied upon this Hortlink study. Attwaters refused to correct the law firm representing the Council and their insurers

• The laws firm wrote to Attwaters Jameson Hill to incorrectly state that there were now just 2 trees implicated and that “Obviously there will now be significantly less water usage by those trees than there was previously and there is unlikely to be any continued subsidence damage in light of this.” Attwaters Jameson Hill wrote to me in their letter dated 5 November 2014 stating in their grammatically and mis-spelt incorrect letter: “Due to the strong denial, I would not advice at this stage we attempt mediation.”

• Attwaters Jameson Hill breached their trust with us

• Attwaters Jameson Hill breached our insurer’s contract

• Attwaters Jameson Hill breached the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Codes of Conduct

• Attwaters Jameson Hill lied to me during my complaint with them in 2017

• Attwaters Jameson Hill asked me in writing to drop my complaint for conflict of interest

• Attwaters Jameson Hill lied in the response to my complaint with regards to not seeking authorisation for spending our insurance indemnity

• Attwaters Jameson Hill could not advise why we were advised that the solicitors representing the Council made a “strong denial”

There are many as yet unanswered questions on the conduct of this law firm with regards to our proven case. Above is a summary. Clearly, a website will need to be created by myself and Attwaters Jameson Hill will be invited to respond in their right of reply. If they respond and lie this will be highlighted. If they fail to respond this will also be highlighted.

At the end of the day it is up to the people of Harlow & beyond as to whether they want to use a law firm that clearly could not care about its client, and allowed injustice to take place, again this is a breach of the SRA Codes of Conduct!
