AVOID - Barbaric Treatment of Child
Affidea Tallaght sent a 6-year-old child with a fractured elbow home with just a simple sling, Calpol and a return date of 2 weeks’ time for review. Advice given was to return if 6-year-old child couldn't handle the pain. No compassion, empathy or aftercare advice given. We went to A&E at Tallaght hospital for proper treatment and care. Barbaric treatment by Affidea Tallaght - Avoid going, especially with children.

Lateness, one sided view
I had to attend for an ultrasound scan. I arrived 20 mins before as requested.
20 minutes passed my appointment time so I spoke to receptionist to see what the delay was.
If I were 20 mins late for an appointment, it would be cancelled. Only that I went to enquire I would probably still be waiting.
It irritates me beyond belief that no one has the courtesy to keep you updated. If I knew I was going to be late I'd have called in advance.
Quick enough to look for payment in advance of appointment.

Central team said we could walk in for a doplar scan and travelled over 1 hour to be told they don’t do that type of scan and in any event the team had gone at 5.

I have been to affidea on a number of occasions and they have been consistently efficient and friendly on every occasion. At no time was I kept waiting for more than a few minutes. The staff couldn't be nicer.

Looking at all the reviews here I don’t understand why doctors are still referring patients to this place. Unbelievable how bad they are. Booked an appointment for my father and told lady on the phone that he was a complete invalid can’t walk or stand up and was wheel chair bound and needed a hoist to be moved from wheelchair to bed. Was told as long as someone was with him on the day who could lift him from wheelchair to MRI trolley that he would be scanned. Arrived on the day and was told that under no circumstances could he be scanned as that he was not allowed be lifted onto trolley that he would have to be able to get onto it himself. An 80 year old man who had to pay for a wheelchair taxi to get there and to be just turned away after waiting weeks for appointment and also to be told not to blame them because these things happen is a disgrace. Shambles of a place. Avoid Kilkenny Affidea at all costs. They can’t even admit or apologise for there mistake. SHAMBLES.

I was referred to Affidea for an ultrasound
I was referred to Affidea for an ultrasound in January. I drive for a living, I tried to make an appointment to suit my schedule. I recently was placed on a medical card, up to this time I paid for everything myself, due to my circumstances changing I have a medical card.
I tried to make an appointment and they had no appointments until March 16th, I asked if I was to pay for the ultrasound would I get an earlier appointment, surprise surprise the answer from the lady on the phone was yes, within 2 days I could get an appointment. Because I drive I had listed my husbands contact number as the contact along with my own, I had explained this to the lady on the phone that I couldn’t answer the phone while driving.
The appointment was made for
16th March. Less than 24 hrs before the appointment my husband was contacted to say they were cancelling the appointment (day before st Patrick’s day mmmmmm.)😡
I waited for new appointment they rang my number randomly, I couldn't answer the phone while driving. It’s funny how they new my husbands number to cancel the appointment but couldn’t ring his number to reschedule. Eventually today after my doctor getting back on to them several times, they contacted my husband by phone to make a new appointment, the LA was VERY RUDE and totally uncooperative and eventually hung up on my husband because he asked to speak to a supervisor. He rang back and got a much nicer lady who organised an appointment……. End of June, 6 months later. If you don’t have to use them then don’t, reading a lot of the reviews on this forum I would have to agree they’re awful. The majority of the phone receptionists are rude and uncooperative. Disgraceful that you are more or less a second class citizen because your unfortunate enough to have to use a medical card. absolute money grabbers, I’ve never been so humiliated in my life.
Shockingly terrible and incompetent
After registering through their patient registration,I heard nothing back for almost 2 weeks. Then I started to send them messages on their website regarding the pending appointment for a scan with no reply from them what so ever. I even e.mailed their so called "quality.....ie " and again I received no reply. A month had passed since my referral without giving me any appointment or replies and yet they told my GP few days ago that they couldn't reach me regarding the appointment. I am sure the clinicians working there are genuine and professional but their admissions office is so terrible and untrustworthy that I would stay away from them from now on . Money grabbing business.

Utter shambles Cork. Let’s start with the process - there is none. Take the fee and you are left to sort out what happens, where, with who and what next. My wife had a very severe ankle injury - the receptionist was rude and got her details wrong. She was unable to tell us the process.
We finally saw a doctor who thought it was a game. We then finally got a mri which was the purpose of being referred there but no results. We phoned and phoned - the doctor will call us, nothing. They even did the ‘we have the wrong number’ trick!!! By wife was in so much pain. This is a shame, a sham organisation which puts money over people’s health. Appalling

Would give a negative score if there is an option. One of the front desk staff was extremely rude, not helpful and no compassion at all. It is a surprising to me that this attitude is allowed in the health care system in particular private facility…

Great care and lovely friendly atmosphere, felt safe and minded
I recently had a bad fall in my garden and suffered a deep laceration to my knee and a break in my fibula. We attended here and the care was fantastic, Doctor Rahman stitched my deep wound a nice and very capable man. Miriam the nurse was outstanding , such a kind lady and so capable, I really felt in Good hands .I saw Doctor Taylor who checked my knee and gave me my treatment plan going forward, Lovely manner and again very kind. Doctor Brent checked my stitches and wound again a real gentleman. The reception staff are lovely too. Very happy to recomend Affidea Cork, They were extremely busy the day i was there and i was in and sorted in about 4 hours. Thank you for your wonderful care.
Efficient and caring
The staff were lovely, both doctors and receptionists included, seen to very quickly and the clinical environment was so clean. Prices weren’t that expensive either.

Made appointment for ultra sound l was given date for18th February but they forgot to book appointment on computer they would not do the ultra sound even though it was their mistake l have been ringing since then but l cannot get an appointment because l am not paying privately if l pay 200 euro they can give me an appointment immediately why are they taking HSE appointments when they can't fulfill the obligations mostly the staff are very rude on reception today l got somebody that was helpful which is very rear
VERY POOR AMNINISTRATION
I have called 7 times over 3 day period and was given different information each I was in formed that letted processing takes up3 48 hours when i called again i was told 7 to 10 days for letter to be processed.ireland needs companies with expertise in this field, but if there administration is poor it reflects on cimpany as a hole

After submitting a referral letter, 10 days had past with no contact, rang several times to really unhelpful people in a call centre, told " well we are busy".
Then rang again after 8 days of finally getting a text to register, to ask why I've not been offered an appointment, call centre staff just hang up, without me being rude or aggressive, told managers dont take calls and to email if I wanted.
So booked in with Blackrock for a scan, yes its €80 more expensive but, I really wouldn't trust affidea in how they operate.
Tom Finn CEO you should be ashamed of the shambles that is going on, out sourcing to other countries to keep your costs down, well the number of customers you must be losing.
