I am absolutely disappointed with WP Engine.
First of all, even before purchasing a plan they demanded a video call “to get to know each other.” Seriously? We’re not living in 2001 anymore. Instead of simplifying the process and allowing customers to quickly pay and start using the service, the company decided to add unnecessary bureaucracy.
Secondly, the promised 99.99% uptime turned out to be a myth. In reality, over the past months I recorded only 91% availability. For a hosting provider that positions itself as premium, this is unacceptable. Constant outages and downtime destroy both trust and business.
Overall, the service left a very negative impression. For such high prices, I expected transparency and reliability, but got the opposite. Not recommended.

My site wouldn't come up. 504 error. I had never had that before in 15 years. I did what they instructed me to do, and I restarted Chrome, and it worked!

I'm a novice, know just enough to be dangerous but not really a lot in the scheme of things. WP Engine is fantastic. Their service is above and beyond any other support. Especially other hosts. Whether your a developer or a business owner, WP Engine is worth every penny. Their techs on the live chat are super helpful, kind and very responsive. They'll even explain technical jargon to me so I can understand what is going on. Using WP Engine is a no brainer and I'd choose them again and again.

Shocking. Not only does their domain pointing cause problems but their pre- and post-service is non existant.
If you don't pay; you don't get helped.
My client had to cancel their services because they were unnecessary and a duplicate of way better services provided through our hosting company. Once cancelled the LiveChat denies you assistance.
BE CAREFUL!!!! Domain pointing to WPEngine moves your content to their servers. And their service is not good during. Agents aren't very helpful and they tend to take the 'easy way out.'

I upgraded my plan then downgraded. Wpengine has not credited back the right amounts. After a phone call that went unreturned after being promised and now being ghosted for half a month I can't believe how bad the support is. To add to it none of the credits that they are showing I was given in the invoice history has actually gone back to my companies credit card. Its ridiculous. I use to like the company but after this I will never work with them again.

I have been working with WP Engine for nearly its entire existence. I have had many support chats and calls... and never once have I not had a knowledgeable, helpful, and polite tech. And if they couldn't address the issue, they knew someone who could. This company is dedicated to WordPress, and they are well-versed in it. And many hosting companies nickel and dime you to death with charges; WP Engine, however, gives you an excellent value for the service. They ARE NOT the cheapest out there, but they ARE the Best!!!

’ve been a WP Engine customer for over 10 years, hosting close to 100 sites with them—some on smaller plans, others on P3 plans costing over $3,000 a month. For years I had a great experience and considered them a trusted partner. Unfortunately, that’s no longer the case.
Support quality has declined, and there’s far less transparency about resources and usage. We’re regularly encouraged to upgrade plans, but no relevant data is provided to justify the upsell. Different agents often give conflicting answers about what platform or plan is needed for the same client, which feels inconsistent and frustrating.
The breaking point for me came during a large migration of about 70 clients to WP Engine. We agreed on the process, timeline, and server needs and were promised a two‑month free onboarding period while we moved clients over. Instead, the account was set up for ACH billing under a non‑existent email address. We had no notifications and didn’t realize we were being billed from the start.
Three months in, I discovered we were at risk of losing hosting for a critical client on a Premium server. I was told to switch to credit card billing (which back‑charged four months) and assured the first two months would be refunded. It’s been over three months since then, with multiple follow‑ups, and no refund has been issued. Now I’m told there’s no record of the agreement, despite having at least one email confirming it.
After years of loyalty and significant spend, this experience has been incredibly disappointing. If you choose to work with WP Engine, get everything in writing—do not rely on verbal or video call agreements.
