Be very careful of Vitkac Freelance Dock platform of freelance work.
I replied to an advertisement for a remote administrative assistant in Vitkac Luxury Online and I received a response that they have an opening for a product promoter through their platform vitkacfreelancedock.com. I went through training and I registered to have my own username and password.
The work is that you promote products by rating them. During training I was informed that I will not have to make a purchases. They informed me however that in order for me to start the work I need to pay a minimum €100 so that the ratings are actually recognised as real and not through AI or bots. I was concerned but I accepted it because I am in great need of work, as I had informed them multiple times, and I truly thought that this was legitimate.
How it works is this: they ask you to pay an amount in a specific bank account and they credit it to your account/wallet on the platform. You start rating products and at first it all goes well, you receive a small commission at the end of the working day. The next day you begin again by paying a new €100, in order to credit your wallet on the platform. At all this process, you communicate with support via telegram. Not even one more day passes by and suddenly a “bonus” luxury product, which is very expensive, comes up where you have to pay the matching amount, which can be anything from €400 to thousands of euros. If you do not pay the amount they consider it that you have not done the work and they do not proceed to payment of your capital (let alone the supposed agreed salary).
Within 24 hours they asked me to pay approx €2.000 in total. Unfortunately I paid €100 + €270 + €200 =€570,00 the first time in order to continue the work on the platform and then another luxury item costing €1.288 came up, which means I have to pay this amount again in order to continue. This is when I started understanding that this unfortunately is a scam. It’s simply impossible to have an employee like me (even freelance), pay €2000 (in total) in one day. In all honesty, I needed the work to add to my salary and I don’t even have such big amounts in my bank account!!!
I said that I am not in a position to pay the additional requested amount of €1.288 and of course they said that I cannot receive my money back (the €570), if I don’t pay the bigger amount and “complete” the work. I offered them alternatives to see whether they have the decency to respond and they keep denying the return of my money.
What happens is that in the first 2 days it all goes well and they persuade you that it is legitimate and suddenly, they catch you completely off guard and in order to continue the work, they lock the money already put in and ask for thousands of euros through the “bonus” luxury items that cost thousands.
When I told them that it is simply impossible to pay this money I asked them for my money back (€570), they of course refer to (illegal) terms and conditions, the “impossible” to speak to a manager, impossible for anything else other then paying them extra, big amount in order to receive your salary and commission. If I was to pay the additional money of 1.288 euro and I was going to complete the set, another luxury pop-item would probably appear and I would have to pay another thousands and thousands to be able to continue. This is something that I raised with them, they said the system is random and of course they cannot access it, which we all know is false.
Be very careful if you wish to undertake freelance work, you will end up paying hundreds, if not more, in order to receive money (if any).
I also informed the authorities because with all these amounts it looks like there is a deeper financial scam going on.
