Repeated plastic found in Venandi cat food – previous incident already acknowledged by the manufacturer
I am extremely concerned about my experience with Venandi Animal wet cat food, produced by Animal Adventure GmbH.
I found blue plastic-like foreign material in the food. This was not an isolated occurrence: after checking pouches from four separate boxes, every pouch I opened and examined contained similar pieces.
What is particularly concerning is that this had happened before.
After my previous report, Venandi responded to me in writing.
The manufacturer itself identified packaging film from its raw materials as the likely source of the earlier foreign material.
Despite that previous incident and acknowledgement, I subsequently found similar blue plastic-like material again in multiple pouches from four boxes.
I have retained the physical fragments, unopened pouches, packaging, photographs, batch information and the correspondence with Venandi.
My concern is not about obtaining a refund. It is about how a problem previously reported and acknowledged by the manufacturer appears to have occurred again, and whether other customers may still have affected products at home.
The incident has now been formally registered by the Irish Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, and it has also been referred to the competent feed-control authority in Germany.
To date, I have not been informed of any customer warning, affected-batch withdrawal or recall.
I hope the competent authorities establish what happened, whether other batches may be affected, and what corrective measures were taken following the earlier incident.
People buying food for family members should be able to trust that it does not contain pieces of packaging material.
