Paid only after we filed suit
I'm the Director of Innolake Corporation, an IT consulting firm. In 2025 we provided a consultant to work on an engagement arranged through Vajraasys Limited, under a signed independent contracting agreement with Net 35 payment terms. The consultant did the work and it was delivered; the problem was getting paid for it.
After invoices went unpaid well past the due date and repeated collection efforts went nowhere, we filed a breach of contract action in Hennepin County Conciliation Court, Minnesota (Case No. 27-CO-26-466). Payment finally arrived just three days before the scheduled hearing, after the company had been formally served. We then withdrew the case.
In hindsight, I wish I had required an upfront deposit, milestone-based billing, or much shorter payment terms before starting. I'd recommend the same to any consultant or staffing vendor considering working with this company.
