Good course but unbelievably expensive if you take into account the number of participants (~12 in my case). A private teacher is double the cost but with half the time you make 10x improvements. not worth it. Excellent teacher anyway!

I had a very nice experience studying Japanese on the beginner level with a diverse group of follow enthusiasts. The teacher of this course was very capable, as a Japanese native she could share with us much cultural information and more informal habits in Japanese language that were not included in the course material. The class was very interactive and personal.

The dedication from Ruby and the teachers are excellent. The excellent teacher Michiel is a very intelligent man, he knows how to simplify the method in the sense that it matches the student's skills. Overall, I highly recommend this school for students and professionals. I took the right choice of program : One week Intensive course. The excursions with the teacher Kristof was absolutely brilliant ! I am very satisfied with my learning experience with UVA Talens.

I was passing 2 Dutch courses in UvA - intensive one and a regular one. Really great place to learn languages. Nice study material, friendly teachers ready to spend extra time with you. Mostly motivated students go there, so you are learning in a really encouraging atmosphere. Planning to continue to study there. Friend who had to change UvA to a different school was really unhappy and is willing to come back.

It was a very good course with a small group which meant we had lots of time to practice together. The material goes fairly quickly, and it’s a light hearted course so the fun level is high!

I have followed intermediate and advanced level Dutch courses at UvA Talen and it has been a great experience so far. All the teachers are really professional, always ready to help and compassionate. Yes they are compassionate :) More focusing on speaking practices or extra lesson/level for speaking skills (more than one) would make it even better.

Too many people in the course, and I was not notified anywhere in advance on how big the group could be.
The teacher wasn't correcting us enough, also not the best approach for learning. I understood a bit more on how sentences are built reading by my own somewhere else that waiting for the course to actually explain that (so everything was just using intuition or getting used to it "just because", without much explanation).
There were barely any students left in the group by the 6th class, I think that reflects how it went.

Ik heb er privé cursus Frans gevolgd (laatste contact maart 2018) en raad iedereen af een cursus bij Uva talen te volgen.

• Geen coördinatie UVA-talen en slechte organisatie van de cursus
• Afspraken niet willen nakomen, zelfs niet als deze zwart op wit staan
• Gebrekkige faciliteiten
• Klachten worden niet gehoord en niet onbevooroordeeld behandeld door de directeur. Hij is telefonisch niet bereikbaar.
• Geen toegevoegde waarde van UVA talen, anders dan het in contact brengen met docenten
• Het enige wat goed is, is de gekozen naam “Uva talen” – dit suggereert (maar is alles behalve!) de kwaliteit van de Universiteit van Amsterdam
Bovenstaande feedback heeft betrekking op het “instituut” Uva talen en niet op mijn docenten.

I took the intensive cursus, over a week, and it was a very good choice. Meeting different teachers keeps you interested and motivated. Afternoon excursion are well chosen, personalized and a good way to put in practice the morning lessons. I strongly recommend it!

My experience with UVA Talen and the Intense French Course was very positive. The professors are encouraging, knowledgeable and constructive in their teaching methods. The professors also exceeded in their ability to meet my specific needs for the course, for example by offering vocabulary and sentence structures relevant for the industry and corporate environment I work in. Would recommend to anyone looking to polish up some dusty language skills !

Perfect teacher, learned a lot!

I'll share in English so everyone can read... I recently participated in the UvA Talen Intens program for Dutch. It was a full week of lessons & excursions in Dutch. The teachers and staff are incredible. The course is designed around your proficiency level. It was challenging yet extremely rewarding. It does take self-motivation to be successful as in any endeavor we take. There is no guarantee of level or proficiency at the end; yet, after my experience, my understanding and ablility to communicate has improved. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who is looking to start or deepen their journey into a new language. Thanks to everyone at UvA Talen and all of the teachers who supported me in my experience!

Geweldig docenten, geweldig ervaring! Heel veel geleerd!

I had an amazing learning experience with the team of 5 teachers from UvA Talen. I would recommend them unreservedly to anyone or company interested in learning a new language...fast! Excellent attention to detail, intensive yet fun and interactive.

Nu, aan het einde van dit leertraject, blader ik door mijn Nederlandse schrift…
Ik ben verrast over het aantal opmerkingen van Bibi Janssen, mijn lerares.
En ik denk: ja, ik ben beter geworden. Als ik nu een fout maak, ben ik mij daar vaker van bewust en corrigeer mezelf. Het gaat niet vanzelf, niet van vandaag op morgen, maar het gaat zeker beter en beter. Afleren van bepaalde gewoontes kost ook tijd.

Ik wil Bibi Janssen bedanken voor de begeleiding door de grammaticale regels en uitzonderingen van de Nederlandse taal.
Ik heb van deze training genoten. De flexibiliteit van “UvA Talen”, om dynamisch aan de wensen en de behoeften van de cursist te voldoen, hebben mij veel geholpen.
Voldoende redenen om deze training aan te raden.

Bij UvA Talen een intense course gevolgd. Het hele team staat gedurende de hele week voor je klaar om het een intensieve en zeker ook prettige week te maken. Door de afwisseling van docenten, de 100% persoonlijke aandacht en het spreken van de taal de gehele week spreek ik nu met veel meer zelfvertrouwen (zakelijk) Engels. Zeker een aanrader!!!

UvA Talen is genuinely a place of growth. I first started learning at the UvA Talen in July 2016 and in four months of daily intense training I had obtained an advanced Dutch language level. It is my belief that in no other place would there have been as many highly qualified teachers, such a skilled administrative staff, and overall supportive, nurturing environment that could sustain such an experience. This place holds a special place in my heart and I value the high degree of talent present within this institute.
