Quite a bad experience
Quite a bad experience. At the start seemed all set and ok, but they missed to communicate that I shall close the contract myself.
I had to ask for confirmation for that just before my move to them, because it was strange that I was not contacted by current utility contracts.
When I contacted again it was very difficult to get support. They promised to answer and call me back in the same day and they did not do. It could be that they are understuffed and make confusion with those simple things.
I think there could be a better service within the competitors, which can guide you better into the process of moving the utility contract and give you support during this important moment.

We were operating with reduced staff that Friday due to Eid al-Fitr, but that is no excuse for leaving you without a response when you needed it most.
As part of our standard process, our team walks each customer through the steps involved in moving utility contracts, including the cancellation of contracts at a previous address and any applicable notice periods. We do recognize that verbal guidance should be supported by clear written confirmation of all next steps, and we are actively improving our process to ensure every customer leaves with full clarity in writing.

Rocky Start—Issue Fixed With Good Support
Utility Direct initially started my electricity contract about six weeks later than my move-in date, which caused unnecessary stress—especially as I don’t speak Dutch and was relying on their support. I later received warning letters from a debt collection agency because the agreement hadn’t been set up correctly, and I had to spend time following up to get it resolved.
That said, after I escalated the issue, they apologized, took ownership, and sorted out the contract with a good attitude. While the start of the process was very frustrating, I appreciate how they handled it in the end.

We want to start by sincerely apologizing. We initiated an urgent contract procedure to get your connection set up as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, due to a human error on our end, that procedure didn't go through correctly, which caused the delay and the situation that followed. That's entirely on us.
For context: in the Netherlands, a standard energy connection takes an average of 4 weeks through the network operators. We set up an urgent procedure specifically to speed this up for you. A process that normally also requires a deposit from the client. The error in that process made things worse instead of better, and we completely understand the frustration that caused.
Once we became aware, we made sure everything was resolved, your connection activated, and we covered the €120 fine. We hope this shows that when something goes wrong, we take full responsibility and do everything we can to make it right 😊

Dylano was extremely helpful and promptly answered all the questions I had, as well as providing immediate assistance with the basic services of electricity, gas, and water. I found the service excellent.
