Everything seemed to be on the up and up until they requested me to submit my ID.
If you take the time to read the names of those who left reviews are not ethnically challenged like myself. For some of you, you won’t understand. For years I have always been denied based on the color of my skin or nationality. To be clear I credit score is great. The amount of money I would have received would payed off all my debt which would have left me with just my mortgage and a solar system payment. Which is about $3k a month in expenses might I add my income is monthly is north of $10,500. They said if they moved forward with providing a HEA my DTI is too high to pay down my mortgage because they insisted on me to make extra mortgage payments to pay down my mortgage debt. If you’re good at math if I paid off all my debt and only had a mortgage payment and solar payment my DTI would only be 25%. There claim is my DTI is 60% so per the other reviews they definitely don’t have to knowledge to do basic math. What was also funny because as a disabled veteran the underwriter excluded my Va disability income from my total income then I had to explain I calculated my income correctly. It’s embarrassing and unfortunate. The HEA is a great product for many Americans to get out of debt depending on who is offering that product. I don’t recommend them because it a waste of time and you can tell they are looking for a specific type of person to lend to. I am not salty about not getting a HEA in every way I qualified I am just disappointed that they advertise with so many ethnic groups but really it’s not what they are looking for. There sol purpose is not to help anyone out but rather help themselves get as much equity as they can. Per all the other reviews I read if 2 people are turning around after signing a HEA and just refinancing their mortgage just to get away. That speaks volumes about what they are hiding and what they are not disclosing upfront. If you have one person that’s questionable but 2 people is a problem. In a sense I am glad they chose not to do business with me for whatever lame excuse they told me GOD was looking out for me. So if your considering any HEA I recommend avoiding Unison and always do your research. I can tell 45% of these reviews are bot’ed wait you have to sign into trust pilot it can’t be. If you believe that then I understand why you got approved.

after a lot of research into Home Equity loans, Reverse Mortgages and Home Equity Agreements and all the pros and cons of each, I decided to move forward with a Home Equity Agreement. Again, after researching the companies that offer this product, I chose to move Forward with Unison. I am so glad that I did. I was assigned Derek Amos as my financial advisor. Derek walked me through absolutely every step and answered all my numerous questions quickly and professionally. He went above and beyond and was really knowledgeable and available. Jeff was wonderful to work with. He stayed in contact and clear communications on doing the remodel adjustment process. The closing paperwork is complete and ready way before we are scheduled to close escrow.

Smooth process, rep was very responsive, they do a good job of transparency with the product. Only complaint is appraisal came in low in my opinion, but that's not necessarily their fault.

I saw unison on my phone when I was looking for a home equity loan, when i talked to Emily about being a customer I did not believe her. She said I could get a loan interest free for 50k. I went to my bank to compare loans and they did not close. They told me I had a lien on my house and I should get a attorney. I was very up set. So I called emily and she said dont worry I will take care of you. she started to work on my account FULL SPEED and encouraged me all the way. She as able to deal problems as they accured and kept me in the loop for the entire process. She is a intelligent and compassionate person which I highly recommend

My experience with Unison was very positive from start to finish.
Demetrios Frangoulis was professional, responsive, and clear in his communication, which made the entire process smooth and easy to understand. He took the time to explain how everything works, answered all of my questions patiently, and never made me feel rushed or pressured.

This company is completely garbage. Save your equity and your ability to sell your home and protect your family. They are bad news

This is a terrible company with a bunch of people who know NOTHING about real estate and they prey on people with even less knowledge than them.
They repeatedly sent me marketing information so I finally decided to look into this further as the concept was interesting and something I hadn’t seen despite doing real estate and finance for 30 years.
The first rep I spoke with never returned my calls and never provided the information he promised. I finally asked to be switched to another person. The 2nd person promised the world which was the first red flag. I proceeded with caution and after wasting my time for over 2 months, they said they couldn’t proceed because they couldn’t find enough comps…after they had already done 2 appraisals by appraisers they hired.
I have a 800+ FICO and significant equity, even according to their own appraisals but they apparently didn’t trust their own people and the whole thing was a complete waste of time.
I went to my bank and got a HELOC that took less than 3 weeks from start to finish and I have full control of it and don’t need to share anything with them.
Moral of the story is don’t waste your time nor give away your hard earned equity to these scammers.

Although my process took a bit longer than normal to receive the funds. I do have to "Thank" Mary Kate for helping me understand and get through the entire process. Mary Kate communicated frequently to keep me updated and aware of the processes. She was very professional and knowledgeable of the processes.
