Great Watch

So far I really like my new watch. The idea that you can change the batteries while still wearing the watch is a big plus. It's only detected a fall once when there wasn't a fall and once it was going to call the operator when I was just sitting in my chair. I think it's a wonderful piece of equipment.

Just what I needed

My husband passed away a few years ago and, living alone, I and my family felt I needed a medical alert device particularly at night when I am by myself. The Kanega Watch has been a great solution. I thought I would only wear it at night, but I find I wear it all the time. People are always asking me about it and I like to show it off by asking Fred the time. Most importantly, it's given me and my family the peace of mind we all need that I can get easily help if necessary in an emergency. Plus, the customer service has been so nice and supportive. Highly recommend.

Great watch & great service

NO only is the watch great.. but the customer service is excellent. We had a problem with the band staying latched and they immediately sent us 2 different new bands so that we could select which one we liked best. This watch has given me, the caregiver, peace of mind.. allowing me to go to the store and leave my husband at home without worrying if he falls.

They are very efficient and very…

They are very efficient and very helpful in situations or problems you don’t understand. They go out of their way to help you. The crown/side button was not working. I was not able to cancel the call to the dispatcher n it was a false alarm . I used my phone to cancel.

Their customer service personal are amazing. Joseph was very helpful very kind n very patient and very understanding.

They after analyzing the problem, the phone had to be replaced. The Kanega Watch Company cares about their customers and their safety.

I don’t believe you’ll find a company like Kanega Watch that cares about their customers like they do. God Bless all off the personnel and the Kanega Watch company.

EASY

Despite negative reviews I read before purchase, I find no problem changing batteries. I called to get the wrist band tightened. That was easy, too. Tech also sent the youtube. This was my first call after buying the watch.

DO NOT BUY UnaliWear KANEGA FALL WATCH!

We bought one for my 94 year old mom about 18 months ago. Just over 12 months in, the batteries became wonky. After several back and forth sending pictures of the watch and batteries so their "engineers could look at it," they sent mom two new batteries. And charged her for shipping.

A few months later, the watch again became dicey, with the battery display showing the ⚠️ icon. We contacted them again, were told to send more pictures so their "engineers could look at it" again. This time, no response. Sent them again asking if they had received them. No response. Sent a third email threatening social media vengeance.

Got a call within a half hour.

They had received the pictures and their "engineers were looking at it." By this time, the watch had completely stopped working. She couldn't even tell the time on it. She was totally disgusted with their customer service (and so were we).

I was told to send a couple more specific pictures and to call them when I was with mom.

Called when I was with mom.

Got voice mail.

They called back after I got home.

I explained this wasn't working for us. That it would have been helpful had they communicated that they had received the first set of pictures. That my mom had been without fall protection now for three weeks and the monitoring costs she has paid are $60/month. They told me they would get back to me when so their "engineers had looked at it."

This was last Friday, the day after Christmas. I gave them until today before I unleashed social media reviews.

Crickets.

So here's my review. Zero stars. $1,600 in and nothing to show for it.

P.S. we just took mom over and bought an Apple Watch 11. No monthly monitoring fees and it does everything the Kanega Watch was SUPPOSED to do. For less money.

UPDATE AFTER UNALIWEAR RESPONSE:
UnaliWear not the full story. Our first set of pictures were emailed Dec 18. No response that you received them. Second email with a "did you receive this email?" sent on Dec 22. Third email threatening social media reviews sent on Dec 24. I had a phone call within a half hour saying the INITIAL email and pictures HAD been received. Sent more pictures as requested and explained how communication (a simple "hey, we received your email") would have been much better customer service. After the email on the 24th, no response and I emailed expressing our frustration on Dec 27. Still no response. Emailed on Dec 29 to cancel immediately.

So don't try and blame this on the Christmas holiday. PLUS, people fall on holidays, so having a working fall watch just might be critical even on Christmas. We would hope our $65/mo would also cover service on a holiday.

When battery or display issues are reported, our team requests specific photos using sample images we provide so our engineers can accurately determine whether the issue is with the batteries, connectors, or the watch itself. In this case, the initially submitted photos did not match those examples, which delayed diagnosis. We recognize that gathering photos can be inconvenient, especially when a family member does not live nearby, but usable images are required before further action can be taken.

We also want to address the claim that we were unresponsive. When our team requested additional photos and a follow-up call, the voicemail referenced here was left on Christmas Eve at approximately 2:30 PM, when our office was closed for the holiday. That timing unfortunately contributed to the perceived delay.

We do not escalate or prioritize cases based on threats of negative reviews. Our support process and response timelines are consistent for all customers, regardless of outside pressure.

Finally, it’s important to clarify the comparison made here. The Kanega Watch is a Class II medical alert device designed specifically for older adults. It connects directly to live emergency dispatch, does not require a paired phone, never has to be taken off to charge, and provides continuous, professionally monitored protection. An Apple Watch is a consumer smartwatch that relies on a tethered phone, requires corded charging every 18–24 hours, and depends on user interaction to place a 911 call. These are fundamentally different products built for very different use cases.

We regret that this experience did not meet expectations and understand the decision to move to another solution. For families considering UnaliWear, we encourage reviewing how the Kanega Watch works, what is included in monitoring, and how it differs from consumer smartwatches so they can make the best choice for their needs.
