It was absolutely appalling. We expected to see animals but managed to see a few. Not what I remembered from years ago. No gorilla, no show. Most of the animals which isn't their fault were hiding... Mehr ansehen

I just wanted to come on here and…
I just wanted to come on here and praise a member of the Twycross team, I had a disappointing experience from a staff member in Costa before I had even entered the zoo check in desk so was annoyed but that was soon forgotten about after I met a lovely helpful lady called Bernie. So lovely, smiley and chatty and I always think people are quick to be negative and moan but this member of staff should be praised and Twycross are super lucky to have Bernie as a member of there team, what a credit to the attraction. We shall look forward to returning :)

Went there on Mothering Sunday to see gruffalo exhibit. The displays didn’t work due to rain… great. Was very busy to the point of being unsafe and the place was a state. Only a couple of animals and they looked miserable and the whole place had the air of despair. Really over priced and generally a terrible experience.
Please don’t waste your money going to…
Please don’t waste your money going to this zoo !! Me, my wife and son called in today for a mother’s Day trip out as there was a promotion where mothers get free entry into the zoo , this turned out to be the only saving grace of the day that we didn’t pay for 2 adults . So it took us 45 minutes to get into the zoo ,fair enough we thought it would be busy being mothers get in free but my god it wasn’t worth the wait !! Empty enclosures after empty enclosures , poor signage , pointless paths , extremely muddy , massive puddles of water everywhere on pathways , we seen people struggling with wheelchairs and pushchairs , toilets where filthy , food and drinks massive queues overpriced . The park is just drab , unloved and looks uncared for just a way of making a lot of money . The only upside was we enjoyed seeing the butterflies great for £24 quid . Do yourselves a favour and avoid ! Used to be a great zoo years ago but that’s not the case anymore . Shame .
Too many things closed
Too many things closed. General vibe around the zoo was one of disappointment, which didn’t make for a great day out. It might be early in the season, but still open for business, so the expectation should be managed. Barriers/tape/not open signs aren’t great. Glad we didn’t pay full price.
Really disappointed hardly any animals…
Really disappointed hardly any animals and the ones there were looked really stressed and miserable. Hardly any kiosk open so really hard to get a drink or anything to eat. Such a shame I remember twycross from years ago it was great day out it looks like it's been ran into the ground some parts looked derelict we won't be going back !
Worst zoo I have ever been to
Worst zoo I have ever been to. Me and my partner attended and at least 50% of the animals were not there, a lot of the enclosures were having matinence on them and this was not stated when we booked, we also couldn't feed the lorikeets due to bird flu which I understand but again this was not stated when we booked. There were 0 kiosks open to grab a drink from. A lot of the enclosures were run down and had massive cracks in the glass. Several of the animals looked stressed such as the leopard and snow leopard, they just paced in there enclosures. We also saw 3 giant tortoises, one of which we were 90% was dead and it was distressing to see. The zoo was barely functioning and we won't be attending again.
The toilets are disgusting
The toilets are disgusting.
We came from far as well and had the kids with us, otherwise could have just held in and go somewhere else.
We couldn’t go through the whole zoo because one of the kids didn’t want to use the toilet as they were dirty and horrible and so we just left to take him somewhere else before setting off home.
Mouldy sandwiches and food poisoning
I visited Twycross zoo on 28/9/22 and bought a sandwich from the cafe in the gruffalo area. I purchased a bacon sandwich on sourdough bread and when eating it thought it tasted odd. When I opened the sandwich the bacon was green with visible mould growing on it. The cafe refunded my money however this ruined the rest of the day as I felt very ill after. I have contacted Twycross zoo twice via email regarding this and both emails have been ignored. Disappointing. The zoo was nice but take your own food or risk food poisoning.

This is the worst zoo I've been to ever!! Absolutely the worst. People don't spend your time or money here I beg you. So disappointed
I'm not sure if actually went to a zoo…
I'm not sure if actually went to a zoo or a empty plot of land!.
I went in August with my family and was really looking g forward to it as this is one we hadn't been yo before,, but we literally didn't see anything apart from a few birds and small monkeys!. The grufalo area is OK but not all of the interactive areas we're working. All in all you'd be better saving your money and visit a park as you might see more animals!.

After reading some of these reviews I was unsure what kind of day we were going to have! But I was pleasantly surprised- it was bank holiday and it was busy but there were lots of staff on and really helpful too - my only critic would be the signage probably needs improving as the map and signs didn’t really make sense. But when we found the animals they were all out and happy and the kids had a great time!
Pants
So dissatisfied with this visit, will never be coming back. Ywp is far better and its not like twycross is really cheap to pay on the gates. Empty enclosures or poor access. Only thing worth going for was feeding the birds nectar. Waste of time, energy and money.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
Absolutely disgusting
Came yesterday for a treat for my daughter staff were not interested in talking to you or even knew what they were talking about. Most of the animals were Either inside (where you cannot see them)or looking very depressed and not cared for properly the tiger looked so thin it looked ill. alot of the lorikeets had hardly any feathers. alot of the enclosures were either in desperate need of updating or were closed all together and they had no room for the animals to roam properly the whole zoo looked very run down and very dirty. food and drink were very overly priced and only saw 2 places to get ice creams open (temps of 34°) whith very long ques only 1 person trying to run them used to love coming here but WILL NOT BE RETURNING UNLESS IT CHANGES DRASTICALLY!!!!!
SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSE WHERE (YORKSHIRE WILDLIFE IS MUCH BETTER)
Absolute waste of money!
Absolute waste of money. Paid £60 to get in (for 2 adults and a child) to find empty pens, what animals you do find are in overgrown poorly maintained cages, the Rhinos are just on a concrete slab! There was no restaurant/food available, we came years ago and enjoyed our visit but now the Zoo is run down and poorly managed. Complained to the disinterested staff on the customer service desk to be told that all they could off was a free ticket! Why would I want a free ticket to a run down Zoo with no animals?! They were unapologetic about the lack of food blaming an external company.
Such a shame to say this but honestly save your money it’s really not worth it.
summer holiday treat aload of rubbish
summer holiday treat. wish I hadn't wasted our money. whole place was just path after path place didnt flow. that wasnt really my main concern though. empty pen after empty pen, didn't see no rhino no snow leopard an no tiger an no gorilla, the pens are run down an not much greenery for them. not many staff around. my kids were so dissatisfied walking to each enclosure to find no animals in them! their was plenty of small monkeys tho an a few goats! lots of areas for picnics an play areas which is nice but I brought my children to see animals not play on a park! so dissaponinted an wish I spent that bit more an took a trip to Chester zoo or wmsp!
I wish we had read the reviews before…
I wish we had read the reviews before we went today. I took my children here 30 years ago and loved it. Today I took my grandchild. Waste of our money. Wandered around from empty cage to empty cage. Signage not helpful. Spent 1 hour trying to find orangutans. Saw a sign post at one point, but no follow up sign. Seems to be no flow or pathway that leads around the park in a logical way so that no enclosure is missed.
Found shabby, overgrown enclosures with no animals. I feel sorry for the animals that we did see. Whole parks needs a complete rethink. Don’t waste your money.
Why are you not taking payment at the…
Why are you not taking payment at the gate these zoos being awkward do not deserve custom probably start moaning in winter that they haven't took enough money 🤔
Alot of space wasted
Huge place but alot of space wasted. There's alot to walking to do, resting areas almost everywhere. Given the wasted space having seating everywhere, they could have done with utilising that space by making the animal enclosures much bigger, especially the primates.
We went 10th July 2022, it was scorching hot. The zebras looked depressed, there was no greenery for them to eat, it was just dust in their enclosure, no water outside either. Same with the giraffes, even the rhino. They could have done with a mud bath for the rhino, it was just dry mud.
There was 1 tiger, which was laying next to dirty water which was just about deep enough to dip it's paws in, enclosure was a decent size but depressing for an animal to be alone.
The place only had 1 ice cream hut which is not enough.
Wet and Wild is really enjoyable for parents and children. It's a blessing in such hot temperature, though the smell of chlorine was very strong, the floor wasn't the cleanest. You could see it hasn't been maintained/cleaned thoroughly.
For a place that generates so much money, what they have to offer is very little.
Overall 2 stars, 1 of the stars was for wet and Wild.
Summer Sundown 2022 event
Summer Sundown 2022 event
I've bought tickets for this day hoping I get to see the zoo without having to stay in the harmful UV rays all day.
Sadly, not the case, when I've arrived there most cages were already closed and people were being ushered into the picnic area.
Animals I got to see? 3 goats, a few wild rabbits in the car park and 2 owls.
How much was I charged? 27£/person.
Queues at the bar: 1+ hours, I have spent 40 minutes in the queue only to give up and go home, I have never been more disappointed in an event.
If this was a 5-7£ ticket for the DJ and staff, then yeah, maybe it would have been acceptable, but having paid £54.00 + petrol for 30 minutes or grief is not acceptable and of course, refund or rebooking is just not twycross policy.
The only reason i'm not giving it 1-star is because the staff itself is lovely and deserve all the stars, this event isn't their fault, it's just bad management.
Staff cannot be faulted as each that we…
Staff cannot be faulted as each that we had dealings with were top notch, but…….
What a total waste of money.
Too many unoccupied enclosures with signs saying ‘we are doing maintenance’. Clearly not the case as overgrown & scruffy.
Toilets are unkept & not particularly clean, no toilet paper in more than one cubicle.
Mid summer & no refreshment kiosks open.
Such a disappointment but then compared to Berlin Zoo & The Highland wildlife centre Twycross doesn’t even make it to the scale.
