His name is Peter Kinyaiya, the professional Tour Guide & Operator in Tanzania, born and raised on the slope of our Majestic Mount Kilimanjaro at 1400m. He was a porter on Mt Kilimanjaro for more than 6 years before keeping some money and go back to college and trained to be a qualified tour guide. After working with other companies for 10 years, he decided to get into the field and run safaris and trekking tours himself. In 2014, Twende Africa Tours The company was found with his comrade porters all from the brotherhood. Their dream was to provide ordinary people with the life-changing opportunity to climb the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. By booking to them you support the life of local communities directly; they will take you there not to send you there! We offer advanced Trekking, Wildlife Safari, Day Trips and Beach Holiday. It is our pleasure to welcome you to our country Tanzania, the country of Mt Kilimanjaro, the African highest point and the world’s highest free-standing mountain, Serengeti NP, Ngorongoro Crater, Zanzibar Island, etc.

Tour en Moshi con Peter

Realicé un tour en la ciudad de Moshi con el guía Peter, que realizó un excelente trabajo mostrándome el centro de la ciudad, la estación de tren y el mercado de abastos, muy colorido y bullicioso. Tengo que alabar y recomendar a Peter como un destacado guía y una buena persona que hará lo mejor para que disfrutes de tu tour o viaje en la región del Kilimanjaro.

Summit with Twende

I cannot sing enough praises for Peter and his team on our adventure of hiking Kilimajaro via Lemosho. From the very beginning, Peter was very prompt in answering all our questions and guiding us on what to expect on the journey.
We were a group of 4 including 2 fifteen year olds.
Baraka and Kalvin were our lead guides. They always made sure we were comfortable and set a comfortable pace for the journey. They were extremely patient knowledgeable. Every night we had a briefing of what the expect for the next day. Daily monitoring of our oxygen levels and heart rates.
Shout out to our cook and waiter (Richie and David). I had previously read on blogs that we should be carrying our own hot sauces – Not with this chef. Full breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner + snacks for the road! Not one meal was repeated – and with a taste that can beat any established restaurant. The soups were the best. David made sure we were eating well to build stamina.
The soul of our team were the porters, these guys know – and I’m not exaggerating, every rock in the terrain. They would pack up after we left for our hike, beat us to the next camp, have everything setup before we reached with hot meals ready to serve. Some porters would also make the trek back towards us, to take our backpacks and lighten the load – they operate as one team. When you see them going up and down these steep terrains, with the amount of weight on their backs, your own achievement of summitting becomes very humbling – they do it day in and day out.
Baraka and Kalvin kept up a pace that was comfortable for us on summit night - with constant encouragement. We also had 2 extra summit porters to assist on the hike, and we could not have done it without them. Us coming from sea-level, carrying even 5 pounds on top the heavy clothing you’re wearing feels like carrying 40 pounds.
Twende ensured that we tasted success and would not have been possible without the entire team. Would highly recommend Twende for your Kili Hike - Best of all, they are a local company and they treat everyone well!!!

Peter and his team are simply amazing! Not just a tour operator, more like “your family in Tanzania”. From excellent safaris to top notch support on Kilimanjaro and unforgettable experiences every day, Peter did it all!
