We went on the Katla Ice Cave tour from Vik. It was the most incredible ice cave experience with Troll with Beda as our tour guide. We arranged to have our wedding ceremony in the ice cave. Beda was absolutely incredible, organising it so we had snaps of time just with us and no other tours, even sorting it so the noisy machines were turned off for our ceremony. He was unbelievably knowledgeable and friendly, really going the extra mile to make it a special experience for us. Extremely talented driver, some of the terrain we were driving across was so rough and at one point the snow meant you couldn't see the track ahead and yet he drove safely and confidently - we would have been terrified if he hadn't have been there! Cannot recommend Troll enough.

There was a significant lack of transparency regarding the difference between the 6-day and 8-day tours. I was told that the 6-day option “covers similar highlights in a more compressed timeframe,” which I found to be misleading. In reality, the final days of the 8-day tour involve a different region of the country, along with a different guide and group. This was never communicated in advance. I only became aware of it after specifically asking, once I noticed that the rest of the group was following a 6-day itinerary. When I requested to cancel upon learning this, my request was refused.

It is unacceptable that such important information is not clearly disclosed at the time of booking, as it prevents travelers from making a fully informed decision.

Guides were knowledgeable and professional. Most of the hotel accommodations were satisfactory, with the exception of the hotel in Akureyri, which was of noticeably poor quality.

And no chasing of Northern Lights. Had to pay for a separate evening tour.

Primero todo fue super ordenado, se cumplió todo el itinerario, el horario fue puntual, y los paisajes preciosos obviamente. Pero la guia Cora fue lo máximo, y es aquí donde me quiero detener, porque considero que tener un buen guía es lo que hace la diferencia entre que el tour sea agradable o memorable, y creo que este tour fue memorable. Es increíble como cambia la experiencia cuando te dan tan bien el contexto de cada lugar al que vas, el saber que no es solo una montaña bonita o una iglesia bonita, hay todo un detalle histórico, en el caso de este tour geológico, que hace que el lugar te envuelva de una manera distinta. Menciono todo esto porque ayer hice el tour golden circle con get your guide y no fue lo mismo y en parte porque el guía probablemente no fue el adecuado. Por esto es que al hacer esta comparativa puedo decir que amé este tour, quedó en mi corazón y lo viví de una manera muy especial, asi que gracias Cora!

Che dire… bellissima esperienza che ti lascia a bocca aperta … soprattutto con la sua guida , perché si vede che è una persona appassionata di questo , oltre a saperti spiegare molto bene tutti i dettagli e i cambiamenti che stanno avvenendo … in più essendo italiano si ha la comodità per chi non parla la lingua di comprendere benissimo tutto

I went on an 8-day Iceland tour with Troll Expeditions, and it was a disaster. The guide, GODWIN, was rude, disengaged, spoke poor English, and completely negligent about safety. I slipped twice at the first waterfall because he refused to let me put on my rented special hiking shoes on time and only later admitted he had never been there in winter.
Precious daylight hours were wasted on excessive supermarket stops (sometimes 3–5 times/day), while a key waterfall on the itinerary was skipped with weak excuses, even though a parallel Troll group visited it the same day. Almost every photo stop or request were denied. GODWIN also pressured us into unnecessary expenses like spa towels, paying three times the normal price.
When I complained, Troll Expeditions lied and fully backed the guide while ignoring any and all responsibility and accountability, even disregarding a separate complaint from another couple on the same tour.
In short: poor safety, wasted time, misleading claims, and a company that lies to your face and defends its guide instead of customers. Avoid.

The tour was advertised as 3 hours, but it only lasted about 2 hours (from 3:43 to 5:47).
It was not due to weather or safety — the guide simply ended early without explanation.
Our group of 8 felt disappointed, and the company has not responded to multiple messages.

We stayed in Iceland for 12 days. The highlight of the trip was definitely the 8-day small group Ring Road tour provided by Troll Expeditions. What truly set this tour apart was the flexibility built into the itinerary. Icelandic weather can be unpredictable, but our amazing guide John skillfully adapted the schedule to ensure we still saw the best sights safely and comfortably. Thanks to these adjustments, we were able to chase good weather, avoid tourists, and even catch some clear skies for the Northern Lights! On our last day, we even had rainbow saw us off back to the capital.
Every day offered something unforgettable - from dramatic waterfalls, to volcanic landscapes, black sand beaches, and glacial lagoon. I was constantly in awe of Iceland's raw natural beauty. We joined Scottish Highlands tour in 2023. It was a regular tour showed the beautiful landscapes, while the Iceland tour took us into the landscape – we hike, approach waterfalls, and truly experience Iceland up close.
It's not just sightseeing; it's adventure.

Our guide John was knowledgeable, passionate, and full of local insights that made the journey even more meaningful. Whether it was a hidden spot, a detour for better views, or local folklore shared along the way, John’s commitment to making each day special really came through.

This trip gave my friend and I lots of memories (and photos!) We'll treasure for a lifetime.

you have pay everything by yourself even if it problem arises by them not by you. but you are the victim and you have to do everything by yourself.

Just did the 3 hour Katla Volcano Ice Cave tour with Max as our guide. Enjoyed it massively and our guide was very attentive, easy going and provided us a great experience overall.

DISHONEST CANCELLATION FEE charge for a booking that was cancelled within ONE HOUR AFTER BOOKING.
PLSEASE DO NOT BELIEVE THIS COMPANY.
They also have tour fees listed online but when you actually book through their website, the tour cost is higher than what they advertise on front page.
EGREGIOUS BUSINESS PRACTICE AND TO BE AVOIDED.

BEWARE of the fine print!! We had to cancel our tour (more than 24 hours ahead, in accordance with the policy) and we were charged a fee! The cancellation policy says FULL REFUND in one place, and 97% IN ANOTHER PLACE ON THE SAME WEBSITE!! So if you check the box that you read the cancellation policy, you’re agreeing to the one they hide that says 97% refund, NOT the one that is all over the website stating FULL REFUND! I can’t say whether the tour was any good, but I will say we took the same South Iceland tour with Gravel Travel and they were amazing!! If you’re claustrophobic, go with Gravel Travel (through Get Your Guide). Their off-road vehicle is much more spacious and has way more headroom. (We saw customer pictures of Troll’s and we saw their jeep on the trip- it looked pretty tight in there). I gave them 2 stars because they do answer emails pretty quickly.

Firstly, having been provided with a meeting location by your team this was not the correct meeting location. Furthermore, nobody from your company contacted us to inform us about the change in meeting point or came to check the location that was provided to check if people were there. I am confident we were at the correct meeting point due to other guests being with us (also confused) and the fact that when we found the new meeting point the operator acknowledged that they had moved the meeting point.

To add to this when we called the help desk they confirmed that we were in the correct location and stated the operator had just rang to say they were on their way and running late. Luckily another guest was called by your team later and informed that the start point had moved. That was quite lucky as I was not granted that courtesy.

Following the confusion above we moved to the new carpark and I was relieved to see a Tröll minibus. I went over to the minibus and knocked on the window. As a result of this instead of helping your driver started yelling at me. I honestly couldn’t believe that somebody working for a tourist operation was speaking to somebody like that. As a representative of your company it was disgusting.

My experience with Troll Expeditions on the 2 Day Minibus Tour to the South Coast, Jokulsarlon, Blue Ice Cave & Northern Lights was absolutely fantastic!
From the very beginning, the communication was clear and efficient. I received all the important information in advance. The process was simple and smooth.
On the day of the tour, the pick-up was punctual, as promised, starting at 8:00 am. They picked us up from our selected location in Reykjavik, and the driver was friendly and knowledgeable. The mini-bus was comfortable, and it was a smooth journey to the various stunning locations.
The sights we saw were breathtaking! From the dramatic landscapes along the South Coast to the surreal Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and the mesmerizing Blue Ice Cave, every moment was filled with awe. We even had the opportunity to witness the Northern Lights, which was an unforgettable highlight of the trip!
The tour guides were well-prepared, sharing interesting insights along the way. They made sure we had enough time to enjoy each stop, and they were attentive to the group's needs throughout the tour.
Overall, the whole experience exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend Troll Expeditions to anyone looking for a well-organized, informative, and memorable tour in Iceland. Thank you for an amazing adventure!

Ice Caves: We are really disappointed with the whole experience

The caves are not beautiful and are full of people. Tons of time to wait. It would be interesting to reassess whether this new cave is a good option

Moreover, I don’t know what’s the role of Angela / Angelica in your organization, but I do think she really needs some guidance / formation

During our trip we made some suggestions on how you could potentially improve as a company, including how to decrease the waiting time on the other hand we said that as guests we would probably prefer smaller / brighter caves (might be interesting to ask other clients)

Her answer was: “everyone complains, at least you are inside a cave” and “just start your own company to test your ideas”

We have paid 300€ supposedly to see something specular and we end up inside a dark cave, waiting a lot to get into each room and with a 0 prepared guide

I hope you can take some action and with the opposite mindset of Angela, improve as a company.

BAD EXPERIENCE.
My ONLY BAD MEMORY of Iceland.
I booked a month in advance the Snorkeling in Silfra at a cost of 44000 ISK (300€) for 2 people for my first day in Iceland.
The day of departure for Iceland, the flight was cancelled and I was forced to give up the activities booked for the first day in Iceland (Snorkeling in Silfra in the morning and the Thermal Bath in the evening).
I immediately called the Trolls staff who said NO change of date, NO refund.
I insisted, so the Trolls staff gave me a 50% discount valid only for new bookings: so pay another 22000 ISK for new bookings for 2 people.
And I want to pay 22000 ISK more for Snorkeling in Silfra, unfortunately the discount code MISSEDTROLL50 is not valid, the booking system did not accept the code, it is fake!
Given my experience, I recommend NOT BOOKING THIS TOUR if you are not 100% sure about doing it.
In my relationship with the Troll Expedition staff NO understanding, NO collaboration, NO refund, No proposal.
I paid 44000 ISK (€300) for the only bad memory of my holiday in Iceland, 2 weeks
PS: for the reservation at the Thermal Bath, the staff of the Thermal Bath, including the absence due to force majeure (cancelled flight), immediately proposed to me to choose a new date.

Do not use this company. My wife and I went there last week for a 5 hour expedition tour in the glacier and when we arrived at the site, we were told our names were in the list twice, but not to worry they were going to let their office know there was a double booking error, before we left at the end of the tour we had the same conversation with them and they advised not to worry they had spoken to the office, to just send them an email an explain what happened.
When we arrived back home we checked the credit card statement and yes we were booked twice, we contacted them and that's when their true colors came out, first they tried to treat the issue as we were going to cancel after the date, then they tried saying we had booked thru a travel agent, then that they were not aware of the issue and the people on site don't know anything about bookings, then that they didn't have our money because we used a third party vendor and provided an email for this vendor, so I replied all parties involved and she (Anna) answered removing the third-party vendor , when I answered back asking about it and telling her the best way to resolve the issue was all the parties involved copied in the communications, she denied removing them but kept insisting she didn't had our funds until the end of the month and she can't refund us.
The website for the Islandic tours (third party vendor)replied that they had checked the transaction and it indeed looked like it was booked twice, to quote them exactly:
It appears the booking was made through the widget from Bokun that is integrated on our website. We didn't take any action on this booking, but it seems there was a double booking- the client is indeed booked twice for the same tour.
This seems to be a clear mistake, and in my opinion, it would be fair to offer a refund. However, since we cannot process a refund if you are going to charge us for it, the final decision rest with you.

After this last communication, no further responses from Anna /Troll Expeditions, luckily for us we used American Express and we don't have to wait for Anna to do the fair thing.

UPDATE: After letting them know we had contacted Amex to dispute the transaction and advising we will not be recommending them, we got an email from the owner of the company, saying that he had provided a "FANTASTIC" service (his words not mine) and we were not being fair because this is all our fault and/or the third party-vendor and approved the third party-vendor to refund us. He insists that he has nothing to do with our refund but he approved it (LOL).Approval that we didn't need because Amex reviewed all the information and had already refund us.

I booked a specific whale tour for me and my very elderly father via their Icelandadvice site, but received tickets for another trip. After many emails and telephone contact, I have not had any response except one telephone promise that I would receive a response. I am very disappointed and advise you not to use this provider again.

Unfortunately we had very bad experience with Tröll Expeditions.
On our arrival day we lost my luggage with the shoes I was supposed to wear on the Ice Cave excursion. The trip was planned for the next day at 13.00.
As soon as I found out about the lost suitcase I wrote an email to the company to ask if another pair of boots I had can be fine. This was at 12.50 of the day before the trip. They said absolutely not, and we started an email conversation regarding the possibility to rent a proper pair. As they do not have a rental service at 13.35, I ask to cancel the booking.
They refuse my cancellation request saying that I was out of their 24 hours cancellation policy. We were writing each other for almost an hour!!! How can I join the trip if I don’t have the correct shoes? This is what we are talking about from 12.50!
At this point they wrote me that they checked again, and the local guide said that my shoes was fine and reassured on fact the I can enjoy the trip. At this point I was confused and doubting on their intention. Even more because the weather was very bad, we were in a snowstorm and indeed the next morning we didn’t make on time for the trip even if were 100km far from the meeting point.
I can understand that a company has a cancellation policy, but they can also be more flexible in particular cases like mine. I’m complaining because I lost 300€ asking for a cancellation due an unexpected event and while I was actually on schedule to do so.

My wife and I went out to the Crystal Blue ice caves with the guide Biggi, and it was an amazing experience! Good information, excellent eye for taking photographs of whoever wanted them, and a friendly demeanor the whole time! Don't miss out on this experience!

This was our first trip in Iceland and we really love it, it was amazing time. The glacier hike in Skaftafell it was wonderful and very good experience be side this our driver Alex from Romenia he was very professional, make the group to feel really happy. He was telling us a lot of Saga stories and he was very special and good driver. We high recommended 3 days tour specially when you are going with the family.
