Edited: 30.06.26 due to ongoing dialogue with the company, Although changes have not been made I feel that they are listening to feedback and are actively working on solutions. These are the areas they say they are committed to working on:
Being able to favourite your most-used layouts.
Better organization of layouts (for example: photo-only, photo + text, and text-only layouts).
Improving the overall editing experience so it's easier to write your story and choose where your photos appear while editing, with a more intuitive "what you see is what you get" experience.
If these changes come to fruition I would happily use the company again as the books I already have are professionally produced. They have also taken the time to look at the photos I struggled with and showed me how they can fit the existing templates. They understand that it can be difficult and that I just want an easier way to produce the books.
I value companies who listen to feedback and act on it. Once they have managed to change the app so that users like me find it easier to use I would have no hesitation giving them 5 stars.
My original post: This is a sad review for me to write as I had high hopes of this app and have struggled through producing two books. I really struggle with the templates - it is very time consuming to juggle text and photos as the text is written in a block and then inserted into a template - this means either too much text or not enough and needs a lot of juggling. My major concern in that the templates seem to be for photos taken on mobile devices and iI found it impossible to include some photos taken on my bridge camera because they were simply the wrong size for the template - cropping did not work.

My experience with Travel Diaries
My experience with Travel Diaries was great, the website was very initutative but however it could be better if you could just add photos without having to write something (if you can i have missed it), because now i had to make some "tricks" to make it happen, but that is only a very, very small thing that did not effect my experience.

Regarding your note about adding photos without text, it sounds like you might have been working on a chapter's title page! Because the chapter title is locked at the top of that specific page, only certain layouts (the ones with gray blocks at the bottom) are available there. However, as soon as you move to the next page, the full range of layouts will appear, allowing you to easily add large photos without needing to write anything.

Gebruiks- en klantvriendelijk, toch tegenvallende kwaliteit
Eens gewend met de lay-out en werkwijze is het een gebruiksvriendelijk systeem. Ook is de klantendienst responsief. De uiteindelijke kwaliteit van de geprinte versie slaagt wel tegen, toch zeker in verhouding met het tarief… concreet is de afdrukkwaliteit onze mening vrij laag en halfweg het boek begint dwars over de pagina’s een kleine kreuk/rimpel in het papier. Gezien we het boek deels konden bestellen met een voucher en een mooie promo genoten willen we niet klagen. Wel een tip om de kwaliteit drastisch te verbeteren of de prijzen aan te passen aan het te verwachten resultaat.

Bedankt voor je feedback en fijn om te horen dat je onze klantenservice als responsief hebt ervaren en dat het systeem na gewenning gebruiksvriendelijk bleek. Tegelijkertijd vinden we het erg jammer om te lezen dat de kwaliteit van het gedrukte boek niet aan je verwachtingen voldeed.
De kreuk of rimpel die je beschrijft, hoort uiteraard niet voor te komen. Wanneer een boek beschadigd uit de productie komt, zorgen we altijd kosteloos voor een herdruk. We willen je daarom graag uitnodigen om contact met ons op te nemen via support@traveldiariesapp.com, graag met enkele foto's van het probleem.
Daarnaast horen we in die mail ook graag meer over je ervaring met de afdrukkwaliteit. We staan voor kwalitatieve reisboeken en nemen dergelijke feedback zeer serieus. Als je ons wat meer informatie kunt geven over het gekozen formaat, de papiersoort en de punten waar je niet tevreden over was, kijken we graag samen wat er mogelijk is. Op basis daarvan kunnen we onderzoeken wat er is misgegaan en hoe we je alsnog een boek kunnen bezorgen waar je wél tevreden mee bent.

Het progamma waar je in werkt moet je…
Het progamma waar je in werkt moet je even doorkrijgen maar dan kan iedereen er een mooi reisboek maken. Als je verdragen hebt krijg je vlot antwoord. Het laatste pakket werd door de pakketbezorger kapot afgeleverd. Na een mail werd er snel een nieuw boek opgestuurd. Ik ben zeer tevreden. Werk al vele jaren met deze site.

I originally looked at Travel Diaries…
I originally looked at Travel Diaries Prior to the Last trip I took, however i could not decide if it was right for me. Post trip I re-visited travel diaries and found it to indeed be good for what i would like to do.
I like how easy it is to use ( I prefer to use the web page rather than the app) and the mixture of written words and photos makes it visually appealing. I am currently trying to finish the current diary as a birthday present to my Partner, who actually writes diaries as we travel. I am sure that we can use those diaries to great effect for our previous trips

Perfect Diary Size to Relive Travels
I re-visited Travel Diaries after 4 years since my last trip. Updates are great and the feature of adding photos in bulk is easy. I do wish that the feature of several photos on the cover hadn't been removed. On my first book it was available.
Nice A5 size is perfect to have as a diary rather than a big photo book. Couldn't believe the quick delivery and was very excited to receive. Will defintely use again!

Mooie App, eenvoudig in gebruik, prachtig printresultaat
Voor een lange vakantie van 8 weken heb ik een bekende reisapp vergeleken met die van Travel Diaries en besloot die laatste te gebruiken omdat dit veel degelijker overkwam. Vooral de layout van de definitieve geprinte versie sprak mij aan. Verschil met die andere app is ook dat je mensen wel een link kan sturen om mee te kijken maar die kunnen niet direct kunnen reageren zoals in die andere app en dat werkt veel rustiger. Als iemand toch wat kwijt wil doen ze dat via Whatsapp. Tijdens het reizen elke dag wat geschreven en foto's geupload wat op de telefoon-app erg makkelijk gaat. Thuis de definitieve versie op de PC gechecked, getuned en laten printen. En wat een waanzinnig mooi resultaat, boven alle verwachting. Heel blij mee en volgende reis doe ik het heel graag weer met deze prachtige app.

Easy to Navigate and Great Quality Printed Book
I really like the easy way it is to navigate around the Travel Diaries pages. I agree with other reviews that it would be good to be able to access the App off WIFI but as I did most of my writing up in hotels with WIFI this wasn't a big problem. I had a book printed in glossy hardback and it looks amazing - I only wish that I had written more.

We understand your concern about not being able to access your account after the trial — that’s valid, and we’re happy to help. Please reach out to us at support@traveldiariesapp.com so we can restore your access as a gesture of goodwill.
Regarding the yearly pricing: the print membership includes a €15 discount on your printed book, which makes a monthly plan tricky to offer without risking misuse (like ordering a discounted book and canceling right away). That said, we’re always working on making our model fair and transparent.

Ik gebruik niet de app maar gebruik de website versie. Dat doe ik nu ook voor mijn tweede dagboek wat ik aan het maken ben. Toen ik op problemen stuiten werd ik super geholpen door de klantenservice waardoor ik direct weer verder kon. Toen ik vast liep bij het maken van mijn tweede boek heeft de klantenservice ook zelfs een kopie versie van mijn dagboek gestuurd via de website met een nieuw voorstel qua indeling. Waar ik ontzettend mee geholpen was.

I have now ordered 5 diaries through the company. The size of the books is small in gloss which a perfect size for my shelf. They look so elegant. Will continue to order as my holidays grow.

Looks pretty but no offline capability.
The biggest problem is that you can’t use it offline and simply sync when back online. That alone for me makes it useless for my use case. Others can maybe live without that but unfortunately I can’t.

Travel journaling made easy
I'm a beginner when it comes to online travel journaling and find the Travel Diaries app so easy to navigate and use. I'm currently on the 14 day free trial but will definitely be upgrading once this comes to an end. I love the fact that my journal can remain private until such time when I want to make it public.

Hele fijne app/website voor je vakantieherinneringen!
Ik maak al jaren gebruik van Travel Diaries en vind het een hele fijne app/website om je vakantieherinneringen in vast te leggen. Het is overzichtelijk, werkt goed en je kunt op een mooie manier ook nog foto’s aan je verhalen toevoegen. Het is fijn dat ik alles nu via mijn telefoon bij kan houden, in plaats van dat ik het hoef op te schrijven. Je kunt je online reisdagboeken ook makkelijk af laten drukken in een mooi geprint boek vol vakantieherinneringen. Toen er hierbij iets niet goed ging bij mij, werd ik heel hartelijk en netjes geholpen. Nu heb ik twee prachtige boeken in de kast staan. Zeker een aanrader!

I seldomly write reviews
I seldomly write reviews, but this experience forced me to. First of all: the costumer service is splendid, but the app sucks side ways. Aperently they have a bug in the system atm (for at least a month now), but for me as a traveler that means that since using the app for my current stay in Asia I am unable to use it properly. The main problem: not able to upload photos to my journal. And by the looks of it, the problem won’t be solved anytime soon.

These cases do happen, where they only affect a small number of users and it's very hard for us to reproduce. Travel Diaries not just for travel!
I began using Travel Diaries as a way to record my trip experiences, since I had both text and pictures, and it allowed me to catch up on revisions when I had time ( after my trips). Since then, I have begun using it to create books with family pictures recording important events. Currently on my second annual family album, and have another handful about grandson visits, special summer events...great photo albums! With TravelDiaries, all the events we so easily forget make for an incredible year when you look back on it. Love the chapters, templates and customer service. Still wish I could move photos around more flexibly, but I can live with it.
