Upfront Payment Scam Disguised as Crypto Mining
I started with just a small amount, thinking this might be a genuine opportunity. Very quickly I was encouraged to keep putting in more, always for spurious reasons: $300 here for “identity checks,” then “tax,” then a so-called “liquidity buffer.”
In total, I invested around $1,800 and, through staking and constant encouragement via WhatsApp, built up what looked like a $7,000 pot. I was genuinely hopeful this could help me and my family through some difficult times.
But every time I tried to withdraw, another demand appeared. The rep, an American called Kelvin, assured me after one payment: “Now, you can seamlessly withdraw next time without facing any issues.” Yet the very next request was out of the blue: “You will still need to deposit $200 + and $100 tax payment before you can withdraw.” Nowhere does it say that there are these extra payment required.
I scrabbled around to find the money—again—and when I finally made what they promised would be the last payment of $300, they claimed they hadn’t received it. Blockchain and Revolut both clearly confirmed it had gone through. When I asked for proof that they hadn’t received it, they went silent on WhatsApp for the first time.
The bottom line? It’s an upfront payment scam. I’ve put in nearly $2,000 and only ever managed to withdraw $100. All the attractive figures on the screen were nothing more than bait to keep me depositing more. The time, trust, and hope I invested were simply part of their grooming process.
