I came from a law background I was really struggling. I wanted to break in project management. After struggling for quite a while. I came across I.T career coach and the service they provided was amazing and helped me to get into the current role am in.

I'm incredibly grateful for the ultimate support I received from IT career coach throughout my journey to land an apprenticeship in data analytics. Their guidance was a true game-changer.

After taking a gap year from college, I found myself constantly applying for apprenticeships and feeling increasingly unsure about my chances. Then, I found my IT career coach, who provided invaluable help in refining my interview skills, enhancing my CV, and crafting a strong personal statement. During moments when I felt hopeless, they kept me motivated and reminded me that all the hard work would be worth it.

Exceptional support. Coming from a variety of jobs and wanting to move into the IT space, l was assigned Wahaj as a mentor. He meticulously examined my CV and past experiences and set up a plan with me going forward. We settled on the Civil Service and started re-doing my CV and personal statement, ensuring to relate past experiences to the jobs I was applying for. Also he helped me a lot prepping for interviews by conducting mock interviews and also guided me to ensuring my behaviours were well prepared for the interviews. Within months I landed a role as a Problem Analyst dealing with M365 queries. I couldn't have done it without him. His genuineness and consideration is second to none, as well as his knowledge of the IT sector and how to properly search and prep for jobs. Would highly recommend, but be prepared to put in a lot of work because mentors can help, but wont do everything for you, but it'll defo pay off!

I was unhappy, tired, lost and out of ideas working in a job where I saw no career path or progression. I knew I needed to leave but I didn’t know where or to do what. After a consultation with the IT Career Coach, I became less pessimistic and more optimistic about the opportunities out there for me.

We discussed my current skill set and how they could be used to transition into a career in project management. I was assigned a mentor who I would catch up with regularly and he would set me tasks to complete in readiness for our next catch up. As the weeks went on I gained a deeper understanding of IT and project management. I was then supported in tailoring my CV to apply for Junior PM roles. Eventually I started to get interviews and my mentor was always available to get me prepared. Then finally I landed my first role as a junior PM. Within a year into the job I was promoted to PM.

As a 50-something year old with many years of call centre experience, I wanted a career change. I was assigned Wahaj as a mentor. His approach was tailored to my background in post-16 education, where I’d spent years as an Assessor, Teacher, Manager, Head of Apprenticeships, and Head of Quality. Drawing from this experience, Wahaj drafted a learning plan focused on the skills I needed to thrive in a data role. We started with SQL, Python, and Power BI, moving into the PL-300 certification, all of which were mapped to my industry knowledge and goals. Wahaj’s guidance not only covered the technical skills but also made sure I understood how they applied specifically to the context of my existing skills.

Faheem supported me from an employability perspective with leadership coaching. This aspect of the programme was invaluable, as Faheem helped me communicate the value of a Systems and Data Analyst role within my current organisation. With his coaching, I successfully negotiated a new position that allowed me to move from my previous quality-focused role while still working closely with the quality and delivery teams. This unique setup gave me the chance to work with data I was already deeply familiar with, making my transition more impactful.

I’ve now been in this role coming to a year, and I can confidently say it was the best decision I’ve ever made in my career. The continued support from Wahaj and the IT Career Coach team didn’t stop after I secured the role.
