International buyer so wont exchange

Received my dress but unfortunately very small make so contacted them to arrange exchange only to be told there is no exchange or refund for international buyers
Beware any international buyers as the rules don’t apply to us even the website says easy refunds

UPDATE ON THIS REVIEW
As of today August 19, 2025
I received replacement dresses today for the previous order that was wrong and damaged. They worked hard after my review to make things better and the new dresses arrived undamaged and in the correct size. They came quickly and the company made sure the replacements were correct and went through customs without any further cost to me. I amend my previous review as they worked very hard to make sure they fixed the problem and sent them to me quickly so I could still have them before my event. I thank the dress outlet for handling this and rectifying this situation. The dresses are beautiful and we'll made and I am very happy with them and the customer service I received to make this situation better. All things considered the quality of the dresses is worth the money and in the end they made everything right and better, one can't as for more than that. I would recommend the dresses based on the quality of them and have to say the customer service improved and they did a wonderful job of making everything right!

I wrote a review earlier about receiving a damage dress and a dress that was sizes to big. That was 2 weeks ago and still haven't heard back from this company with a resolution. In total I paid 500$ pus 177$ in duty and new tariff charges. You'd think this company would want to fix this problem ASAP, but no. As it is going I'm stuck with two dresses that are completely useless and now with no time for them to come before the date I need them. This is the worst customer service ever. I would never recommend buying from here it is an absolute disgrace to all retail companies with no regard or concern for their customers at all

Misleading product listing – international buyers beware

BEWARE OF THE COMPANY
I purchased a prom dress from The Dress Outlet based on their website photos and customer reviews, all of which showed a closed-back design. There was no mention of removable ties or an open-back option at the time of purchase, and the zipper placement in the listing photos was completely different from the dress I received.

After delivery, the company sent me new photos that had not been on the listing when I ordered, showing an open cross-back style. This means the product was misrepresented at the time of sale.

Because I am an international buyer, they refused any return or refund, citing a “final sale” policy — even though the product I received did not match what was advertised. I had to purchase a second dress elsewhere for my daughter’s prom, incurring additional costs.

The original dress remains unworn in its packaging. This experience was disappointing and costly, and I want to warn other customers — especially international ones — to be cautious and take screenshots of listings before ordering.

Don't Do It

Ordered my daughter's wedding dress. Was charged for the dress. Received a text that I had to provide confirmation of billing and shipping information because there was a hold. Promptly provided. Charge was fully processed on my card at that point. Then two days later I receive a message that the dress i ordered and paid for isn't in stock.
I was offered two replacement options: one purple, one green. Or, I could get store credit.
While I understand the return policy, this wasn't a return. I was charged for something that doesn't exist. That smacks of bait and switch scam.
After multiple calls and promises of refund, there has been refund of the $1500 charge.
I absolutely cannot recommend this company to anyone.

"Easy Returns" is a lie, do not fall for it

The company advertises "easy returns" which I have noticed now in reviews has been misleading for a lot of people as it was for me.

First off I tried to cancel my order well before it shipped as I became aware through reviews of quality control issues with these dresses and was doubtful they would actually fit me, the company lied to me multiple times saying I couldn't cancel because it had shipped already but were unable to provide proof of shipment for many days. Once they did provide proof of shipment UPS hadn't even received the package, so it was all a lie from the beginning. After that they changed their story and said they couldn't cancel unless I had asked an hour after the order which is different than claiming shipment was the reason they couldn't cancel. The clear reason they didn't want me to cancel is that upon receiving the items you cannot return them without paying a restocking fee and accepting only store credit.

Since they advertise "easy returns" I ordered from them thinking they were no risk, that if they didn't fit or the quality wasn't good then I was covered, that is not the case. The offer of store credit is basically useless to me as their quality issues are the reason I don't want the items and those aren't fixed by ordering another round of poor quality items.

Moral of the story is don't be fooled by the false advertising claims of easy returns, it's a lie they don't want it to be easy. They want to make you miserable and ensure you have no recourse in getting your money back.

Ghosted by customer service

I ordered a dress, which came on time. The seams on the dress were not straight, it was not sewn correctly and the front panel of the dress was not sitting right (skewed). So I emailed them, and they replied and agreed that I could return the dress. Then they ghosted me! It has been a month now, and I've tried following up with emails, to no avail. The person was called 'Judy' and they never replied advising how I can proceed with the return. This is horrible customer service, and this will ruin an event for me as I will need to buy a new dress once I had returned this one... however it doesn't look as though they will let me return it, even after they agreed that the dress is faulty and that I can indeed return it! Just answer my email it's not hard! After years of buying dresses from here with no issues, I will never again.

i could not recommend this website enough. prom is a time where you are suppose to spend hundreds of pounds on a dress. but no! the dress outlet made me save hundreds of pounds and still was able to experience the best and most beautiful, unique dress. thank you so much.

Although I wasn’t able to keep my order in the end due to timing, I had a truly wonderful experience with The Dress Outlet’s customer service. My dress was purchased to wear to my son’s wedding. It is absolutely beautiful and very well made. The fit was almost perfect. I am 5’7” and it just needed to be shortened less than 2 inches and if I could have worn a slightly higher heel it would not have needed any aterations. My only note or concern is that it is not stated in the on-line description that the dress is not to be washed or dry cleaned and of course my dress needs to be cleaned. I’ll take the risk and have it dry cleaned.

Fast shipping, great prices.

Needed a dress, didn’t have time to go shopping. Went online and found The Dress Outlet. Picked a dress, received it the day before the event. The shipping was fast, the price was great and the fit was ok. Saved me from spending hours shopping and trying stuff on and gave me something glamorous (received tons of compliments!), inexpensive and great quality. I shopped there again recently and ended up purchasing a few $13 (yes, $13!!) dresses to donate to organizations that provide fancy outfits for girls who are going to prom or parties or graduations and cannot afford. Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service. They take so long to respond to emails, they never pick up their phone and they don’t call back. They charge restocking fee and won’t send you your money back they only provide store credit even if it’s their fault they don’t have the dresses they advertise on the website. CAUTION! - returns aren't possible

Update by Diana M. - after back and forth emails, and providing The Dress Outlet documentation of the expenses I incurred including shipping to return the items to them, they refunded me about 2/3 of my total costs. Given their refund policy, including stocking costs and return shipping, I think this was a reasonable solution. I had returned the items purchased, which had been tried on but not worn, in their original packaging and provided a UPS tracking number for the return. However, I had no guarantee that I would receive any compensation so it was a risk to return the items. An alternative would have been trying to recoup some of my costs through reselling the items. The products were lovely, well-made, and well packaged but I would not choose to buy from The Dress Outlet again simply because there is no way to try on and return items, if necessary, without significant cost and hassle

Quality products, well-packaged but sizing varies and their return policy is HORRIBLE so watch out if you want to buy more than one size of the same outfit to see which fits best. TERRIBLE customer service and short-time frame policy for returns or exchanges. Only buy here if you are POSITIVE that you will keep the product. Returns are costly. I'm out the garments I returned, the shipping cost to return them, AND the original cost. I lost over $200 trying to buy from this company with nothing to show for it. Never again!
