Extremely Disappointing Experience
My experience with Deloitte Consulting was one of the most disillusioning professional experiences of my career.
The firm sells an image of integrity, excellence, and people-first values, but the reality felt completely different. Internally, the culture appeared driven by optics, billable hours, and protecting leadership narratives rather than delivering real value to clients or supporting employees. Promises made during recruitment and onboarding often failed to materialize, and transparency was notably lacking.
Workloads were consistently unsustainable, boundaries were ignored, and burnout seemed normalized rather than addressed. Decision-making frequently felt disconnected from reality on the ground, while accountability flowed downward instead of upward. Many projects felt more like exercises in presentation and revenue justification than genuine problem-solving.
What troubled me most was how easily misleading narratives were tolerated—whether to clients, candidates, or internal teams—as long as they served short-term goals. Ethical concerns or pushback were often brushed aside in favor of “commercial considerations.”
I strongly advise anyone considering Deloitte Consulting to look beyond the brand name. Ask very direct questions about team culture, work expectations, growth paths, and how often “values” are actually upheld when they conflict with profit. In my experience, the gap between what is marketed and what is practiced was far too wide to ignore.
This is not a place I would recommend to someone who values honesty, sustainability, and long-term professional development.
