I was recently introduced to Steven by my lawyer. From the very beginning Steven had a can-do-attitude. From the initial phone call Steven gave me confidence in his credentials and I was happy to request his services there and then. I was aware that the potential house in question was a two hour drive from London which was quite an ask considering Steven is Lindon based, but Steven was happy to make the journey. I asked Steven to do a thorough survey of this house and he quite literally kept no stone unturned. Post survey he delivered to me a very diligent and concise report. I would highly recommend Stone Survey Ltd. services.

We hired Stone Survey LTD for a Level 3 Building Survey, expecting a detailed and professional inspection given their RICS accreditation. What we got was shockingly poor – not just unhelpful, but actively harmful.

Steve, who initially handled our booking, passed the job on to someone else without properly informing us. That person turned out to be utterly incompetent. When we raised concerns, Steve spent more time making excuses for their failings than actually addressing the issues.

They missed a literal fist-sized hole in one of the internal walls, which I spotted myself during a normal viewing. I had to insist they update the report to even include it – completely unacceptable.

They also missed obvious damp on a bedroom ceiling (not hidden by anything) and failed to report visibly poor brickwork on the side of the property, again in plain sight. These weren’t small oversights – they were major structural and cosmetic issues that we ended up paying thousands to fix.

When questioned, they denied using subcontractors, but that only makes things worse. If this was Stone Survey LTD’s own staff, then the lack of competence is even more worrying.

This wasn’t just a bad experience – it gave us a false sense of security and directly led to expensive repairs. I genuinely believe I would have done a better job myself.

I’m writing this review to prevent others from making the same costly mistake. Avoid Stone Survey LTD – they are not just unprofessional, they are dangerous.

I was recommended Steve through a friend. It was an easy and smooth process to get something booked in and was a quick turnaround time to receive the report itself. The report was thorough and Steve was available for us to contact him with any questions after. I would recommend to anyone looking to book a surveyor.

Steve was excellent! Unfortunately our survey told us everything we didn't want to hear, but in the process saving us a lot of money! The comms were excellent and fast - we had the survey booked within the day. A brief phonecall after the report had been published really helped clear everything up as well.

We would definitely use Steve again for a building survey.

Steve completed a full survey on a residential property for us. Whilst his services are more expensive than most of the competitors’ quotes we enquired, we are happy to have chosen him. From beginning to end his work was tailored to our specific property and needs (i.e. no off the shelf solution), and very thorough. He described all identified issues clearly (large and small ones) and explained the implications of inaction to fix them as well as next steps to avoid just that. Where relevant, he put issues into perspective of comparable houses to understand the magnitude of the problem at hand. In the call following the report Steve explained the key issues for us in layman terms, prioritised the issues, and suggested precise actions for us to take now. The way he was able to answer our questions indicated deep expertise on the subject. Steve was very responsive throughout the process.

We are first time buyers and thankfully we chose the right surveyor. Steven quoted a fair price for a Level 3 RICS or Full Building survey that we wanted and followed up by producing a thorough report explained in language that didn't require a technical background to understand. He flagged a number of major issues with the property and made himself available to address any points of clarification that my wife and I had with his report. We were realistically looking at significant additional expenditures that were going to make this property a money pit and gave us the confidence needed to make our decision. It's easy to overlook certain things when viewing a property but having a surveyor like Steven on your side will ensure you have the critical information needed to ask the sellers and estate agent before you exchange. Would work with him again!

Steve did an excellent job surveying a house we were looking to buy.We needed to receive the report a couple days before the due date. Steve managed to provide the report as we requested without any extra charge .
We are also thankful for his excellent reporting which enabled us to make a decision not to buy the property.

Steve provided us with an in-depth and extremely useful Building Survey. He highlighted and advised on a number of issues that we (or a lesser survey) would have missed. After the report was published we discussed it in detail to ensure that we fully understood what we were taking on and how to remedy the issues. I would certainly recommend anyone moving to get a Stone Survey completed before you exchange.

We appointed Steve because he arrived at house that we were selling to carry out a survey on behalf of our purchasers. We were immediately comfortable with him walking around our home to carry out the survey.
Based on our experience to that point we appointed Steve to survey the house we are buying.
He liaised with the sellers agents to gain access on a suitable date and time. We had to rearrange the survey due to purchasing difficulties and he was very amenable and helpful in changing the arrangements.
When the survey had been completed he phoned the same day to provide a summary of the findings and his written report was emailed to us 2 days later.
