We’ve had a fantastic experience with Stepping Stones Tutoring. Nicola, Becca and Owen have worked with my two sons over the past few years and have been patient, encouraging and excellent at explaining maths in a way that really made sense to them.

More importantly, they’ve helped to build my sons’ confidence in maths, which has made a huge difference to both their progress and their attitude towards the subject. All three tutors genuinely care about their students and adapt their approach to suit individual needs. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Stepping Stones Tutoring to any parent looking for supportive and effective maths tuition.

My son has had a tutor from Stepping Stone Maths for several years. Tess has been a wonderful support to him, both in terms of teaching him but also increasing his self-confidence in his abilities. She is patient and kind, as well as being very well prepared to provide suitably challenging sessions that have helped Max progress well. Tess always follows up sessions with a detailed email that we find very helpful as parents.
Behind the scenes Nicola is excellent at keeping parents informed and managing the business side of things.

Henry has been an excellent online maths tutor for my daughter, Parisi. He is calm, patient, and truly empowering—he builds her confidence and encourages her to do better each session. Parisi has improved considerably since Henry started tutoring her, both in her understanding and her confidence with maths. I shared all the feedback from her teacher with him, and he has been actively working on those focus areas and more. Henry is dedicated, supportive, and very effective, and we are genuinely glad that he is teaching Parisi.

Sofia is just so brilliant with my daughter, so much so that she’s taken up extra Christmas classes with Sofia. Sofia really knows how to engage with her and make maths fun and build confidence!

Tess did an amazing job with Lottie. She has grown in confidence with her maths and genuinely enjoyed her sessions. I would highly recommend for any child that needs a boost in prep for GCSEs. Thank you again to all at Stepping Stone Maths

My daughter has a brilliant tutor experience with Tess. Having someone she feels comfortable with is vital to her learning, and Tess makes every effort to really understand the direction and needs to make learning so enjoyable. Having a sporting common ground is a bonus!

Ryan is an excellent tutor. My daughter adores her tutor time, she’s learnt so much with him. His patience and ability to explain learning to her in a way she understands and grasps quickly, is amazing. She really looks forward to her next session each time.

Ben is patient, polite, always explains things in a way my son understands. And always makes sure my son understands his answers and how he works out the sums. My son feels comfortable with him. I would highly recommend stepping stone. They were quick with their reply, also got to understand what my son needed. If your look for maths tutoring for your child, I can’t recommend them enough.

Ben has been working with my son Oscar in the lead up to his GCSEs. Ben has given Oscar more confidence and developed his knowledge to tackle the more difficult exam questions. Ben is great tutor and Oscar has really enjoyed his time working with him. Oscar didn’t want an older tutor that he couldn’t relate to - and Ben was younger with similar interests and made chatting much easier. Can’t rate them enough !

We've had a brilliant experience with Stepping Stone Maths, from the first enquiry with Nicola to where we are today - with Ryan as my daughter's tutor. She's come on leaps and bounds since her sessions with Ryan began, her test results are much improved and she's on track to move up a set in maths. She really enjoys the sessions too. Ryan makes her feel comfortable and explains things brilliantly. She never feels unable to ask questions and her confidence has grown massively since starting on this journey too. Huge thanks to Ryan and Nicola for everything!

My daughter Sophie has been working with Nicola for some time now and still looks forward to and enjoys every session.

Nicola knows just how to engage with Sophie and manages to make the learning fun and get the best out of the session.

I think this is one of the main reasons Sophie's favourite subject is maths and why she has grown so much in confidence, so thanks for all your effort & support Nicola x

We and Milena are really happy with the tuition. Milena’s confidence in her school work has increased tremendously and Becca is a great tutor.
Milena really values Becca’s input on everything, Becca is just the best that happened to Milena.

Becca is a wonderful tutor. She has helped me understand many subjects which I was previously struggling with and has made me enjoy Maths and English a lot more than before. She always has a smile on her face showing that she enjoys helping others and is very patient which makes the sessions more enjoyable and understandable.

Highly recommend Stepping Stone Maths - Nicola has been fabulous with Darcey who has been having some lessons to increase her confidence with her SAT’s . She has really enjoyed the lessons and learnt so much in a short space of time ! Thankyou :)

Stepping Stone Maths has been brilliant - our daughter has had sessions through year 6, including some booster and a weekly lesson. Her confidence increased so much, any tutors she had were so patient and positive and it really made learning fun for her. She used to say she couldn’t do maths and then ended up achieving much more than she expected after sessions with Tess, Henry and Sofia over just a few months. Can’t recommend them enough!

Whilst a little apprehensive to start with, Lily has really enjoyed her time with Sam, who is patient, engaging and
encouraging. It has been lovely to see Lily's ability in the subject
increase and moreover the boost this has made to her confidence – to
the point where she is now happy to have a go at answering maths
questions and even looks forward to her next sessions!
For anyone considering tuition support for their child we couldn't

Caitlin started with Luke before the Summer holidays, before moving up to year 9 (2024) and it was an amazing decision! Luke has helped Caitlin prep for year 9 maths over the Summer so she's all set ready. Luke is such a lovely young man and I can always hear Caitlin giggling away during her lesson. Finding a tutor that your child gets on with is Gold and Stepping Stone Maths has definitely found a good one in Luke. Thanks so much for your patience and help Luke!

Jessica has been working with Sofia for a number of months
now and has built a wonderful relationship with her. Sofia is calm and
always makes Jessica at ease if she is unsure on something. I also
love the weekly email summary that is provided. We try to align her
maths topics at school with the lessons with Sofia and this has been
hugely beneficial. Jessica's school teacher regularly feeds back how
Jessica is improving and gaining confidence with her maths and that
the extra tuition is definitely helping improve her grades. We are
very happy with Sofia and her approach to tutoring our daughter. Thank

At the end of year 10 Charlotte was falling just short of a pass at grade 4. Her recent mock result has seen her score increase by an incredible 20 marks and we are confident she can secure a grade 5. We have gone from stressing and worrying about her passing it to being certain she will attain a strong pass! She even commented ‘maths is my favourite subject now, I really look forward to it’. I never thought I would hear those words! I can’t thank Jo and Stepping Stone Maths enough.
