Be ready for the up charges
The misleading advertisement is the main reason for the review. You make it sound like you're going to get a couple pair of glasses and a free eye exam for around a hundred bucks which is not the case. It's nothing but upselling at that point and paying for the lenses. Plus I wasn't happy when I was going to get the Bluetooth sunglasses yet they didn't say that the actual lenses were going to be clear. Wasn't too pleased about that, especially for the prices I was paying for everything.

First time getting glasses
This was my first time getting glasses and it was a great experience. The people are kind and give clear instructions. There's no hidden fees or upcharging. I appreciate the free eye exam if you're buying glasses, that worked perfectly for me. I'm sure part of it was because I had a weak prescription, but they were able to make my lenses for me that day and I walked out with my glasses.

The staff was/is incredible! Starting with the young lady that did the eye exam portion. Don't think I have met a sweeter person (tied with my wife). Do professional and yet also welcoming. Then I move out onto the sales floor and the people there were every bit as nice and again, completely professional. They showed great patience with my wife and I. The glasses are a bit pricey if you get all the extras (but otherwise very reasonable without them).

No stars for customer service
I went to the Arlingington, Tx location on Collins road this Wednesday around 1:30p. The new lenses for my existing frames had arrived. The tech working the front had such long press on nails that she could not handle the screwdriver or screws. She ask the store manager to help and was told to tell the customer to leave the frames and come back later as the she, the store manager was on her lunch.
I understand wanting to eat but I also know putting the customer first keeps a company in business. And nobody has ever withered away from nibbling their way thru a cold lunch.
So, I left with my frames and new lenses in a baggy for me to complete the job.
Four adults in our household wear glasses. Guess who won't be using Stanton Optical for exams or glasses.

Friendly staff but found a virtual eye doctor strange and the selection of glasses for the lowest 3 levels of the advertised plan was poor.

A number of things made my experience exceptional. Immediately I was met by an associate who greeted me with sincere kindness, answered each of my questions intelligently, helped me pick out my frames that suited me best, then the the optician was professional, intelligent and proficient. Cheyenne and Celia were both very professional and helpful. The eye exam was thorough. Cheyenne led me through the whole process, and helped me and my wife to find the perfect (basic)frames. Upgrades from basic lenses were explained with care with no sales pressure. Actually a very enjoyable experience.
