Stanley Barker sold pre-orders of Christopher Anderson’s Index based on the promise that this was the only way to secure a signed copy. When the book was released, pre-order customers received an unsigned edition, with the signed editions now showing up with resellers.

It goes without saying that engaging with Stanley Barker about this situation has been hugely frustrating and ultimately pointless. Firstly multiple emails being ignored then eventually being told that they will not be able to fulfil my order as they have no signed editions left- of course, that’s because they have already passed them onto resellers at a mark up!

This has been more like a mugging than an experience in incompetency by Stanley Barker. I have never been as disgusted with a publisher or book seller in 20 years of collecting photobooks. Shameful.

They make good quality books, but their customer service is terrible. I preorderd a book months ago. They were supposed to ship in April. When mine hadn't shipped by early may, I wrote them an email about it. They answered that they would ship it shortly... Still (on May 19th) they have not shipped the book,though they've had months to plan and execute. I would not recommend anyone to buy books directly from Stanley barker, go through a reputable retailer instead.

Wish I read the reviews before ordering. Despite chasing my order on a book which is already published and in stock, they still choose to ignore my repeated requests for updates several weeks on. Don't use!!

Ordered a copy of Cop by Christopher Anderson on 20 Jan 2024. Despite numerous emails to the email address published on their website I didn’t receive any response to my queries about why my book hadn’t arrived until 27 Feb 24 when I was told they were moving their warehouse which caused a delay in dispatch. Anyway, despite chasing on several occasions, the book was finally delivered on 23 March 2024. Not great service and if I hadn’t chased wouldn’t have heard a thing. Offered a 10% discount off a future purchase. What a joke. Very poor service.

They make nice books but their customer service is horrible. They are totally unresponsive to any issue. They just don't care. Once they get your money, that's it! I had several issues with them and the last one they are not taking care of a book arrived damaged.

Dreadful company. Slow, badly packaged delivery and no response to any communication.

I love the books I bought. I’ve put them in pride of place in my living room.

The books arrived in perfect condition. When I contacted the seller they were friendly and got back to me quickly. I would definitely recommend them.

I recently ordered a copy of Jason Lee’s book In the Gold Dust Rush from its publisher, Stanley Barker. The book came within a few days and and was well wrapped (which is always an issue for larger books). The book itself was lovely - beautiful printing, secure binding etc. I always try to buy direct from the publisher when possible, and was not disappointed. Highly recomended.

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. DO NOT BUY IN THIS STORE.
I pre-purchased a book months before it went on sale (OCT-2020) Right when they announced the presale I bought it. What was my surprise when the author signed the first copies and they were already released for sale. I was seeing in networks how they sent signed copies and it did not reach me. Of course the signed copies were finished. And I sent them an email to find out where my book was. They replied that they had just sent it. It took almost a month to arrive (January 2021) and when I open it of course it is not signed, because it is clear that they gave priority to those who bought it after me. They completely forgot about my pre-order. And until I sent them the email they didn't even realize.

Hice una precompra de un libro meses antes de que saliera a la venta. Justo cuando anunciaron la preventa lo compré. Cuál fue mi sorpresa cuando el autor firmó las primeras copias y ya las lanzaron a la venta. Estuve viendo en redes cómo enviaban copias y copias firmadas y a mí no me llegaba. Por supuesto se terminaron las copias firmadas. Y les mandé un email para saber dónde estaba mi libro. Me respondieron que acababan de enviarlo. Tardó casi un mes en llegar y cuando lo abro por supuesto no está firmado, porque está claro que dieron prioridad a los que lo compraron después que yo. Se les olvidó por completo mi precompra. Y hasta que no les envié el mail no se dieron ni cuenta.
