Not enough men in my area
The number of people in my age range (65- 75) who are active and engaged on the site is small compared to the number of profiles you have up, so it looks like there are a lot of men there, but it feels as if most are not very active. The membership on your site from my area has always been very small and has barely grown since I've been on the site for about 10 years. I've always been hopeful that this site would attract more men who are open to spirituality and healthy living. Conceptually, it's a great idea and maybe in very large metropolitan areas and on the coasts it has more membership, but here in Northeastern Ohio that's not what's happening. I do appreciate your recent addition of the opportunity to add vaccine status.

Yes, you are correct that we don't have thousands of members in Ohio. The midwest doesn't seem to attract as many "spiritual" singles as many other states do. We do have a ton of Success Stories that start out being long-distance though, so if you are open to it, you can meet someone who is willing to relocate (or you may be willing--or you have 2 places to live and travel back and forth). Our membership in general grows every month by several thousand, but of course that is spread out through all ages. Women tend to outlive men, so when you get up over 65, there are fewer men in general, so I highly encourage you to be open to meeting someone outside of your location. I was able to find many interesting spiritual people to chat with. Most people have decent photos of themselves. I just wish there would more spiritual people on the platform -it seems we're all just sprinkled around the world.

The website layout is well done
The website layout is well done and user friendly. I do wish there were more members in my area. I'm a 62 year old female, and perhaps the reason there are a limited number of men in my area is because online dating may not be an older person's game.

Thanks for your review! I checked your search filters and I can see that you have some very limiting ones. I recommend clearing all filters (at the bottom of the filters, click "Clear all filters") and then slowly start adding them back in one at a time. The search results will refresh each time you add a filter back in and you can see the difference in the number of results. We are one of the few websites that gets a lot of "more mature" members, so you are in good company! The area in Texas where you live isn't known for its spiritual community, so I would simply suggest broadening your location preference to a 300 mile radius, combined with the above suggestion and see how that goes. I wouldn't go elsewhere - this site is actually spiritual in it's service & design
As an early adaptor, i've used internet dating for a couple of decades. Ove rthat time, i've found Spiritual Singles to be the best site and wouldn't go anywhere else. I found my two big loves and long term relationships on SS over the past 15 years.
What i like about the site:
It's comprehensive searching and profile creation options - if you're very particular, as i am!
I fully paid, but the many free features are genuinely free, which makes it possible to communicate with others without having to pay.
Privacy settings mean you can take a break easily.
It's really easy to use and it seems to be continually being refined.
I get the definite sense that this company is authentically motivated by helping people find love than just making profit as a first premis, so it's actually spiritual in it's service. Whats not to love!

Having been on other dating sites
Having been on other dating sites. I have to say that the quality of men on this site is light years above the men on other sites. The amount of information you get before having to connect is useful. I have a date next week and have made a few friends that live far away. I am recommending this site to others.

this site has the best search filters of all websites. i can search for vegans, western and chinese astrological signs, and conscious-spiritual members, without geographic limitations. it's perfect!

Hi Steve,
I checked your Matchmaker and Search filters and you have some pretty limiting parameters which are narrowing your search results and matches. For your search filters you are searching within a 100 mile radius of your zip, but you checked only women who are not willing to relocate. I unchecked that for you, as it was limiting your search results by quite a bit, as most of our members are willing to relocate, or would consider relocating. As it were, you were only seeing those who would not relocate (for love). Since you are only looking in your area anyway, there is no need to use that filter. I hope this makes sense. You have more search results now (go to your SEARCH page to see more women).
If you uncheck the "no marijuana" option, you will get more results too. You can always clear all of your search filters and then slowly start adding them back in. Our search is dynamic, so you can see how each filter narrows your results.

The beauty about Spiritual Singles is that you can use our search filters to really narrow down your search results and matches, however, when you do, you may also miss out on someone that would be a great match (especially if you are using some of the more superficial screening filters like height, weight and race). AND, most women are willing to relocate for love, so even if you don't like to travel, she might come to visit you! For the right person, it's worth it! Many of our success stories start out being long-distance. We wish you the BEST!

I would like to consider this site but…
I would like to consider this site but right away I notice you have weight criteria on your site and I find this very objectionable. One can easily choose a potential partner from a photo depending on your preference. This idea of naming your weight preference when joining is discriminatory, has a very negative weight shaming result if not the intention (that is the result) and in terms of potentially hurting another person who may be struggling with their weight, this ‘highlighting’ is anything but loving and spiritual, if you think of yourselves as loving. Discrimination on any grounds, or supporting discrimination, goes against every manifestation of what Love (Spirit) stands for. This is very different from discernment by an individual who may be attracted to a certain body shape, like certain hair colour. Please don’t pander even more to people’s fears around weight and size. It is so yesterday and shows a lack of mindfulness.
Depending on your response, I will consider and I urge all others either on this site or considering this site to look in their hearts and see if they want to support this sort of ‘weeding out’ that has the potential to cause a lot of fear and pain in vulnerable people - which of course we all are. You will remember this the next time someone judges or hurts you.

Thanks for your review and sharing your concerns. We do use a weight range, as opposed to a specific weight to keep the focus softer on that aspect because we have always encouraged our members to look at the person (their soul, their heart), not the physical aspects as much. We have always offered "Prefer not to say" as an option for those who do not wish to share their weight range. And, yes, some people do have preferences... for example someone very athletic usually wants their partner to be the same.
We ask many personal questions like race, height (range), weight (range), hair color, eye color, astrological into...etc.. All could be considered discriminatory, if you look at weight as discriminatory. We encourage everyone to love and accept their bodies, no matter what size. We don't see being overweight as a bad thing, or something to be ashamed of and we don't feel that the weight is highlighted at all. For example, we don't show weight on the initial "card" that people see when viewing who is online, or the matches or the search results. If it were "highlighted" it would be on that initial card everyone sees.
It is certainly not there to facilitate any hurt feelings. It's better someone know up front and not initiate contact if it is an issue or preference for them. We think that would lead to more hurt feelings that not displaying it.

I just checked your Match Preferences and you had some very limiting criteria selected. One was the willing to relocate question. You said you were looking for someone that put "Maybe". Most select either yes or no. I've unselected that for you. I also expanded your minimal height and weight preferences just a tad, so now you should have many more matches. We do have men looking for women in their mid 60's, thousands, actually. The few criteria you put, the more profiles you will see. Go to "MatchMaker Preferences" in the upper menu bar under "Matches" to edit further. You can also use the search page and see dynamic results as you add or subtract filters. Needs more people, and a site aesthetic update
Barely anyone in the age range I'm looking to date is on the site, even less are active. Broadening the search range helps some, but many are not open to even relocating either.
The site itself has an older internet feel to it, it feels like it is from the early 2000s and could use a face lift. Most importantly though, is the need to bring more people onto the site to make it a worthwhile service to use.

Thanks for your review. We actually have thousands of new members join each month, but unfortunately not many in Tennessee. You are doing the right thing by expanding your search range. We did launch in the year 2000, but we have had many upgraded versions over the decades! And we are not like the superficial swipedy swipe mainstream apps.... our profiles are much more in-depth, and give the power to our members to search for exactly who they are looking to meet. It's is a bit more old school, intentionally (and most members appreciate that). Wishing you success!

I appreciate the thoroughness and variety of questions, and also found it also exhausting and at a certain point irrelevant.
My first "interested" party, showed interest two times. When I responded, his reply was sorry I hit the interest button by mistake and we are not a match. How could that have happened 2 x's? Flaw in your system?
The potential matches are mostly not within the age range that I or them are interested in. I only want to see those pertinent to my age range and there's. That is a major flaw. Maybe I'm missing something.
A second interested party (who shared he wasn't a paid member) and whom I responded too, just dropped the ball. The reason is not clear. Was it because he isn't a paying member? Confusing.

Your matches are shown based on your filters, so just go to your Matchmaker Preferences and make sure you have them set properly. Go to the "Matches" page to see your Matches.
Sounds like he sent you a free hello. As long as you write a personal message back to him (not a pre-written hello), he can reply without subscribing. We allow non-paying members to read and reply to personally written messages from subscribing members.
And, finally, the "interested" button is working. Sounds like he just goofed twice. Next! :-)
