I've been using Spare Music for a few years now and it's been great! UI is perfect, its easy to upload on and customer service is fast and always helps you out when needed. Would def recommend

I am disappointed to see so many negative reviews, I have been working with spare now for 2 years and lets just start by saying if you steal music or upload ai bs or don't do proper accreditations you will encounter problems. I have had no problems to date and will continue my tenure here. Im not sure why people say support takes so long, i think the longest waited for a ticket was about an hour or so!

Would recommend to artists looking for a great distribution PARTNER.

Don't believe what people write bad about this distributor. This is the best music distribution campany ever. They don't steal money. They work very quickly on weekdays. The operator Chris, as always, is very polite and responds quickly and solves any problems. They make you an official artist channel on YouTube completely free of charge. Payments come quickly. I recommend it to everyone. By the way, the moderation time for a release sometimes takes 30 minutes)

It's all a lie:

1. you can only submit 2 releases at the same time (unlike what they advertise)

2. YouTube Content IDs are not free, you have to buy them for your releases like DLC

3. You cannot customize the release date as they advertise.

4. Demanding 50% royalties from you for these services is unacceptable.

5. support is a joke. they don't answer your question. And if so, learn to let the bot answer you.

So: go with routenote or other paid distributors, stay away from them.

Scammers - they suspend and dont pay out royalties

Firstly, I always send support messages to the support team but never get a reply. Second, my account has been closed and my balance is $19,000. There are deferred payments, but they haven't paid anything.

Been with Spare since their first year. I have tried 5 or so other distros too over the years however Spare is my main home and I couldn't be happier. I'd say at least 90% of my catalog is w them as the years go by and I consolidate more so I'm not on so many distros as it gets messy fast.

My main highlight is that in 5-6yrs, I've never had any issues with payments, and I do well so that was my main concern with all distros. When you read all the various rogue distro scams of ppl not getting paid for the silliest reasons (song didn't fade out, there's 1 second of silence at the beginning, there's a click somewhere in the track, you got some streams from strange places, etc) as soon as you make decent money they find ways to not pay - this always scared me into going back to Spare.

I see people leaving 1 star reviews because they force payments and there's a fee to get your money (as with any distro) however if you're only making $29 and the fee is $20, then I understand your gripe but you should be aiming to make more not creating a stink or a workaround for the fee, and I believe you can set your threshold to whatever now so set it to 1K and then $20 is nothing..

Submitting music, operating as a label (or many labels even) is easy, they often add stores as they launch, there's content ID, and the same features most distros have are all there.. for me, again, the most important part of my music business is the getting paid/reporting part and Spare has never missed a beat in 5-6yrs. I should add that this is life changing money not just a few K, so if you have a big sensitive lucrative catalog and your distro is messing w you, give Spare a go you'll be safe and most importantly you'll be paid.

I've been using SpareMusic for 3 years and they are a fantastic distributer. I've used a handful of other distributors for various collaborations in the past (Ditto, Amuse, RouteNote, Horus, OneRPM) and what sets SpareMusic apart is their customer service. I've had small release issues with every distributor I've used, including SpareMusic, but any issue I've had has been resolved in under 24 hours. With other distributors it took weeks or months or never to get responses and resolve issues.

I started on their free tier where they take 50% (yes this is quite a bit higher than the 10-20% pretty much every other free distributor takes) but as soon as my releases started performing well, I switched to the $60 a year artist pro plan to receive 100% of my royalties. There is a $20 a year artist plan where you get to keep 95% royalties. Other distributors offer 100% for $20, but I personally think the top tier customer service makes the slightly higher prices worth it.

My reports from SpareMusic have always lined up with sales/streaming figures from Soundcharts and payments always go through with no issues. As another reviewer noted, payments are automatic each month and there is a small processing free depending on the method of payment you select, but you can contact customer support and they will turn off automatic monthly payments for you if you don't want to be automatically paid every month.

I do have two minor critiques of SpareMusic. 1) Information is sometimes outdated or contradictory on their website, so I always make sure to ask customer support to verify any info I need and don't assume the website is accurate. Ex. Website says you can't downgrade your plan but you actually can. 2) I've found their promotional services pretty useless. This isn't unique to Sparemusic though as no distributor provides top tier marketing tools. There are just better non-distributor options to use like linkfire, lnkbio, etc. The most useful marketing tool SpareMusic provides is that they collect your release links for you so you don't have to search for them yourself. They also distribute music videos to VEVO which is important to me as I am an audiovisual artist that creates a visual video for every song I release.

Worst distributor ever. They automatically pay your royalties every time you exceed a certain threshold. You can't stop or change this. This results in a payout of $0,10 ; instead of $2,16, due to transaction costs and what not. When you contact their customer service, they will send you a standard e-mail template that they are working on it. I have been their disappointed customer for years, because my label chose them; so I am bound to their terrible business. STAY AWAY!

I have used ditto and distrokid and so far Spare Music has provided me with all my support needs, I haven't had any problems within the last 6 months of being signed up
