Do avoid contact with Southwark parking if at all possible ...

After typing that little heading I find that I simply don't have the energy to go into detail about why I feel that giving the parking section one star is over - generous . The final straw was towards the end of the working day when the Southwark employee who was trying to assist me at the help centre in the library in Peckham [ and trying very conscientously - I hope that I've spelled that properly ] was getting through to the section at the drop of a hat while I , ringing on my mobile with another query was ignored for 22 minutes before I gave up in frustration. Only answering internal calls eh Parking ? I will provide full details , I promise after trying to tackle my situation again tomorrow.

I am writing to formally express my deep concerns and dissatisfaction with the current situation regarding my council tax charges and the handling of my housing conditions. It is with great distress that I recount the severe issues I have been facing, which have been exacerbated by the lack of support from the council.

Firstly, I find it extremely unfair to be charged council tax when I have not received adequate services from the council. My current living situation is dire due to the following reasons:

Rogue Landlord: My landlord has been a constant source of distress. They have cut off the gas supply and threatened me with violence. Despite my numerous complaints and requests for intervention, the council has failed to take any meaningful action against these unlawful practices.

Drug Dealers: There are known drug dealers operating in close proximity to my residence. This poses a significant threat to my safety and well-being. Again, my reports to the council about this issue have gone unanswered, leaving me in an unsafe environment.

Lack of Assistance in Relocation: Despite the evident dangers and the uninhabitable conditions of my current home, the council has refused to help me find a new, safe place to live. This neglect has forced me to remain in a hazardous situation that no individual should have to endure.

Injustice of the Legal System: I have been summoned to a virtual court hearing regarding the council tax. The fact that this hearing will be conducted over the internet, without any direct contact or support, severely limits my ability to defend myself. I can only contact the court through Southwark Council, which is an impractical and unfair arrangement.

The council's handling of my case and the insistence on charging me council tax despite these circumstances is unjust. My tenancy agreement does not make me liable to pay council tax, and I believe I am owed a refund for the past 12 years of unjust charges. The amount charged is incorrect and the council tax support has been improperly calculated.

Furthermore, the inability to address these issues in a liability order hearing is another example of the systemic failures I am facing. It is unfair and unjust that I am being set up for failure by Southwark Council, without the means to properly contest my case.

Refuge does councils bidding do not protect DAV.
Councillor contacted failed to intervene.
Non compliant
Placing britosh DAV in migrant hotel mostly men in Wembley at best western hotel.
Housing officers think tgeyre above the law.
Ignorant dumb bottom feeders who have not come across anyone who can spk engkish so theyre naturally suspicious.

Adoption-by-proxy

Very unfortunate circumstances, my son went into foster care last February and proceedings have now come to an end- this is adoption by proxy- there was no reason for proceedings to last so long and no reason to support adoption. I am now in a stage two complaint process as southwarks compliant team refused to uphold any- my case is now with a Ombudsman and a seperate complaint is being upheld by the JCIO regarding the judge at Holborn family court not following her own practice directions and allowing the local authority to abuse there powers. Today I have recieved the care plan which was withheld for three weeks since we were last in court- meaning the judge allowed a order for adoption proceedings without a robust or avaliable care plan- Interim Care orders can not be dismissed from court without a care plan. The LA legal is under investigation by four families including myself as she has been sending threatening emails stating if any one is to complain outside of the courts or LA team we are to be ARRESTED! Due to the seriousness of matters I have not included any professionals name but I would advise anyone to start a stage 2 complaint if this is the level of abuse others have suffered. I will be seeking an "return of child" order as I have complied with every recommendation set and exceeded more through my own resources and faith. I will not be bullied and silenced when the actions of this Borough are illegal and almost unheard of in border Borough like Lewisham and Lambeth- the standard of southwarks social services for both adults and children's are non existent resulting in mistakes and protocols never being met. Please be careful and make sure all issues are reported and any correspondence save as evidence as it is not a easy battle fighting a corrupt game. My son is now being advertised for £32,000 to strangers as a finders fee for the council, the social workers handling the case get a £5,000 bonus- when they say money is not involved in adoption- it very much is! And alot of this DARK COIN money is used to support much wider worldwide abuse of children- mainly of a mixed or non English heritage- my son is mixed race, therefore very desirable to a certain type of person- racists.

Same patterns with advisors working from home
Waiting for over an hour numerous times to get through to someone
Often calls get cut off even when Waiting for over an hour
Communication skills are not very good especially for mental health customers
They use the WORST GAS AND ELECTRICITY COMPANY

trying to communicate as a second/third party has been a joke for the past 8 years it Isn't working having to deal with the council to keep their property in check mental health customers are being abused though health and safety issues
Created by low communication skill lack of understanding lack of empathy ia Southwark council workers on the phone to their customers/clients
Even when you complain NOTHING CHANGES 😡😤🤬

DAY 4/5 Ironically the engineer has phoned in sick, but no one new that when I called for 3rd time that morning funny that I predicted it
Your patterns are amazing and only work if the customer isn't articulate.

MY ISSUES HAVE NEVER BEEN WITH Engineers who actually turn up and do their job. So thank you jack.

Shameful

Our lift breaks every week without fail, in the same way every time. Our service charges are still taken despite the fact that the repair costs are not reasonably incurred under the landlord tenant act 85. They've broken for the third time in 2 weeks after being inadequately repaired and there is no way to place an out of hours repair request. I have to wait the whole weekend to request a repair which means going up and down 6 flights of stairs at least 6 times to let my dog out. There are people with disabilities in my block forced to endure this as well. Oh, and to top it off our service charge is about £1000 higher than 2 years ago. Disgusting and unacceptable.

Continues heating and hot water problems - regeneration is a total lie

Continues heating and hot water problems. Noise nuisance and anti-social behavior in the estates. Instead of helping residents, the Southwark Council is busy getting rid of the social housing and selling the newly built properties to foreign investors at extortionate prices. (in Elephant Park one bedrooms start from 600k). The re-generation of the area was supposed to help the residents of the borough, on the contrary residents are ignored and suffer in silence. Mismanaged, clueless council with no real direction and understanding of the needs of the residents. I complained on numerous problems over six months ago, I was promised that it would be investigated but nothing was done.

In my humble view, this council needs to be reformed as in it's current structure tax payers money is badly wasted. Disgraceful and shameful non-service is the summary of the council's performance and giving a one star actually flatter them, it should be zero. The council is very good at collecting money, but totally rubbish in delivering services.
I am currently taking legal advice on various matters regarding the disrepair in the property. This council needs to be investigated, especially the housing list teams.

Mismanagement, clueless out of touch .

This council seems to do jobs not needed to . Waste tax money paying inflated bill and works that doesn’t need to ( corruption? ) . Do not care about the people leaving on it . They only looking for ways to make money, they are good at that , as much as wasting it.

CONSTANT fly tipping, housing despair, housing officers are not acting

- Housing: the repair teams are never called by the housing officers (who's very job it is to take the care of the state of the estates). Usually calling/ reporting repairs online results in nothing, if you case them up they might do sth. after around 50 calls (I am not joking I call the council almost every day). If they fix sth. the fixes are VERY VERY poorly done and most of the time incomplete.

- IT RAINS in to my flat and they council has not sent someone for weeks. To get anything done you need to complain, go to the second stage complain and address the MP directly....
- Cleanliness: Streets and houses are in an absolute mess and reporting it is only fixing the problems very temporarily (if the problems get attended at all). Deep cleaning is never done, there have been 'freshly painted' stickers in my neighbour house for 2 years (I have taken them off in my house).

- Fly tipping: People are fly tipping anywhere and there is absolutely no active and sustainable solution from the council.

- Housing officers: I have NEVER seen my housing officer in my estate and I seem to annoy her when I call her.

I'm currently holding for this Council (1 hour 45 mins so far). My son has just got a flat in this borough, and I've tried to fill out a student council tax exemption form for him. The form doesn't exist online! So I called 19 times the switchboard number, and was cut of 18, of those, the only time it went in to an voicemail was to tell me where to get a Covid test done?! What a load of sh***e, nothing could prepare me for this. I read the reviews before accepting the property for him, and thought it can't be that bad. Worse than I could imagine, and he hasn't even moved there yet. So glad I live in Islington. If this is anything to go by, seriously regretting letting him move there, horrendous!

Virtual parking

What a nightmare to log in to the council parking app to book a virtual parking space, it’s bad enough to have to pay to see my children without the headache of never being able to log in because it will never accept my password EVER!

Morally Bankrupt and Soon to Go Financially Bust too.

There is a complete lack of transparency and accountability.
And no matter who the councillors are or from what political persuasion they come from, the staff remain rude and unprofessional.

Having lived and worked in Southwark for over 45 years, the arrogance and audacity of the staff at the council never cease to astound me. It seems like standard conduct by those who somehow manage to wriggle their way into a job in the council to be completely void of any notion of Customer Service. I wonder if it is because no matter how incompetent or corrupt they may be, staff are confident that there would be no repercussions. They would not face any scrutiny whatsoever let alone dismissal.

In cases when they are caught with Gross Misconduct staff are placed on paid leave for a few months, then they resign and move on to another council.

The staff are in cahoots with contractors and millions of pounds have been going astray for Major Works.
Instead of doing something about it, Councillors hide the events while claiming thousands in expenses.

still awaiting compensation

Briefly... My district heating mains that enter my house (x3 valves ) were meant to be changed tue 26 sep along with 3 lockshield 2 radiators and 2 trv valves ..

so far only one radiator has been completed.. Wednesday.

we have also had a flood and my entire front hallway wall /new carpet installed a fortnight ago and lounge area was under black hot water 1cm deep

U need to train your staff on Critical Thinking to cover all eventualities and what items to have on hand as a precaution if something does happen i guarantee had the guy had his rags handy and some rubble bags there would have been a lot less mess cause ive experienced this before at my other place and if ur guys are experenced why have they not come fully prepared ????? shortcuts every turn !!

Also such big jobs should start much earlier than 11am to give time to complete the same day as was scheduled weeks ago
The thing that got me the most is that he started late ..

cost to me so far is
1) a new carpet for stairs as its all one long piece of 13 steps and underlay + fitting +grippers .
2) large can of dulux paint matt pure briliant white /2caulk /2silicon/2no nails
3) possibly a new skirting board
4) labour to redo all above at £160 per day
5) and most importantly delaying my tenants who have given notice to previous landlord and want to move in 1st week oct £4000 per calendar month

To whom do I bill all this to. ?? And whom do I speak to in terms of some form of respite /compensation as Tennants are due in ..

i would like to hear from someone who can take charge of the situation
as soon as possible
This council is pretty good at charging an arm and leg for everything they drain you completely
but deny any form of respite when they are at fault ...
im still waiting compensation and an email to send all this information about the cost to

We are being forced to pay council tax on old property

We are being forced to pay council tax on a property that we dont live at anymore. I always paid what was told on the bill every month. When we moved they said we had to continue to pay on old property until next April the remainder of which was more then original bill produced. They sent us a break down of which no one can make head of tail of. Not even a councillor MP who came to us could not help us. We have been up their offices in Peckham four times and gotten nowhere. The local C.A.B has closed and all they could offer was yet another link to the council tax dept. I have appealed and just get electronic emails back stating 15 day wait for response and then response is, we received your complaint and no more interaction there after. In the mean time we are stuck paying it. I tried to contact someone higher is the council but they are very closed off of the public and you end up right back where started at switchboard level and general council tax department which are no help at all. All they do is what they see on screen. Not where the mistakes have been made and errors. Unfortunately its us,, the residents,, who pay and suffer for their mistakes. Both old property we lived at and new one now are both under Southwark rented. When there are any issues like this you are on your own. No one puts themselves out to help you in this council...

FRAUD & CORRUPTION

Corrupt does not even begin to describe them, they keep inventing FAKE non existing debts, today they sent me an email DEMANDING I pay them over £23,000 for council tax, which they intend to money launder into offshore accounts.
The OWN multiple shell/ FAKE GHOST COMPANIES, using fake identities.
When I discovered the truth, about their land & property fraud ( building without planning permission/ unregistered properties) and refused to pay these fake
companies having been FORCED to pay them for 16 yrs, they illegally evicted me,
Turned up when I was out, with FAKE POLICE ( they are now IMPERSONATING Police) threatening my guest with arrest if he did not leave, changed the locks with all my stuff, when contacted, got all mouthy, gave me 2 weeks to collect my things, & said there’s nothing I can do about it. I had to leave all my furniture, appliances etc as I had no where to store them. They have been harassing me, threatening me, warning me whenever I complain to ANYONE about them, and the MP , COUNCILLORS, GOVERNMENTS , POLICE COMMISSIONER, FRAUD OFFICE & POLITICIANS are also in on their
CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES , this is why they are getting away with it. HOWEVER, I have carried out my own criminal investigation, and WILL be DEMANDING to know WHY the REAL POLICE have DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to PROTECT, TAXPAYERS, RESIDENTS, PUBLIC & VICTIMS ALIKE.

I’m disabled lady I moved here 10 years ago.
Every time I apply for council house they keep making excuses & reject the application without informing me till the dead line passes & they keep saying apply again till I fed up .
The bad reviews are right .
They are awful in every way possible.
10 years& I can’t get help moving to council house .
I been renting private place , they just help with a bit of rent .
Where is the justice for people with disabilities whom can’t look after themselves.
Do your self a favour & find better council if you thinking to move here .

Zero Stars!

It is a shame that I can only give 1 star because these degenerates have no idea what they are doing! Repairs take forever, there is open drug use in the day time in the stairwells whilst children are around, there is damp and mould throughout my home, the noise from the alcoholic neighbours is at all hours, the other one screams at the top of his voice(mental health issues), my kitchen was dismantled during covid, they've still not returned to repair it properly, they are aware of all the above yet do nothing and refuse to respond to any of my complaint emails and they never get escalated, they hire according to quota rather than talent so what do you expect? It's funny how they are so quick to respond when they need council tax or rent paying. They have harassed me via phone, letter and email several times because I've yet to pay the rent this month. Disgusting! My housing officer doesn't respond to emails unless I tag in the Chief Executive and then they take notice. It's no wonder Grenfel happened with muppets like these in charge. RIP public sector, this country's a joke. I'm sure they're aware of these reviews yet choose not to respond, I wonder why?

Appalling experience

Appalling experience had with the environmental team. Called through to discuss an email I had sent regarding bin collections only to be greeted by someone who had insufficient knowledge on how to handle my query, was quite frankly rude in their tone, interrupted numerous times and more, I was placed on hold 3 times, was on the phone for 20 minutes and they then hung up.

Completely inadequate to be a customer facing call handler and really bad experience to put someone handling calls like that from the get go, also poor form in not being able to immediately speak to a manage or someone of senior authority.
