We accidentally met the two business owners, Robin and Laura, on our first day in Rarotonga. They were super friendly and shared some local tipps with us. Then they had to move on to their next business meeting. Luckily, they left us one of their business cards.

Their „cook island pocket guide“ instantly became our travel guide for our entire time on the Cook Islands! It is full of useful tips for hiking, snorkeling, food and anything else you can do on the island. An amazing travel guide!

I came across this website while looking for a guide to Lord of the Rings travel. I was surprised to find that there were guides that summarized many rarely mentioned Lord of the Rings filming locations, which gave me a lot of information that I could not collect anywhere else! The descriptions of these tourist attractions were also so professional and detailed, which shows that the website staff conducted very detailed field research.

Before we started planning our trip to NZ I watched and read NZ pocket guide information via YouTube and the Website and got lots of good and honest information about car rental, places to visit, weather, what to bring etc. Just all the practical information travellers need.
This helped us planning an excellent holiday on the beautiful north island of NZ and I will definitely use their information again when we start planning our trip to the south island.

We go to the islands as an extended friend/family group every year. We started using South Pacific Pocket Guide a few years ago just to find popular sunset spots in Rarotonga. Since that first trip, we have used pocket guide every time, more and more each time as we explore different islands. The articles are so thorough and when we mentioned to some locals that we used this site, the locals knew the people who run pocket guide and had great things to say about them. That raised my trust even more, knowing that the pocket guide writers are experts who have actually been to these places and know the locals.

I recently came across these two lovely, energetic and vibrant people earlier this week as one of their YouTube videos popped up in the stream after having watched a different video. If I had found them earlier (missing the 5th star as it would have been good to have found them while googling travel agents and tours in NZ in December), I would be in a lot better headspace.
I am traveling to NZ in April and have been in touch with a number of agencies, some of which responded and others not. It is stressful planning any holiday, but it's even harder and worse when the country you're flying to is 11 hours ahead of where I live and agencies haven't been forthcoming with responses and email talk is once a day.
I sent an email to South Pacific pocket guide with a couple of queries from my side as I pretty much had an itinerary in my head to get their input. To get a response from Rob within 2 hours, I was absolutely amazed and 'wow' considering it would have been about 2am there.
He confirmed one or two things for me and am since reconsidering the itinerary in my head based on his feedback.
Hopefully I'll be in touch again with a few more pointers before I travel.

Good travel guide, planned my trips to the Cooks with them and all the tips were bang on. Not sure if there are any other guides out there for Raro but that's the best I found.

I was interested in the Niue information for a potential holiday. The information on the Pocket Guide site is great and detailed. The you tube videos were the first and best thing I could find to give me a good overview and tips in a short and concise way. I had a question about sharks and the pools, which they replied to in less than 24 hours, a great help on making a choice to travel. The tourist board should give them an award!

I recently travelled to Fiji, Samoa and Cook Islands, and enormously benefited from the pocket guide. From tours to bike rentals, bus timetables, must dos, SIM cards, the guide offers a plethora of information condensed in one spot. I want to visit more of the South Pacific and I now know where to get valuable advice!

First, thanks a million - again and again - to Rob & Laura for their stunning work!! You really made my journey to the (literal) antipodes of the world ..., at least as seen from my den in good old Germany ;-))

As a somewhat experienced world traveler with 120+ countries visited in almost 4 decades - be it work-related or even more inspiring in times of leisure -, with a clear preference for destinations off the beaten track, less known or somewhat cumbersome to visit (like e.g. Greenland, Bhutan or the DPRK – North Korea) and fascinated by contacts to foreign peoples, rites and cultures as close as possible, I reached out last autumn to finally visit Samoa for 6 weeks combined with 3 more weeks in Fiji.

In sound preparation for this new adventure, I was simply super happy to have stumbled over Rob & Laura’s amazing pocket guides by luck! Finally, reliable sources of extensive and plentiful in-depth information, inspirations as well as clues on these destinations that have been super-neatly researched unpretentious of travel styles, focuses or personal preferences and all that even kept well up-dated. When I had small remaining specific questions in particular on cultural aspects, Rob stepped far out of his way to answer them gladly in person, to his best knowledge, super friendly and with good sense of humor. Awesome! Finally and as a neat proof of quality, their pocket guides also turned out to be super reliable travel companions on the spot. They did not let me down even for a single second in 9 weeks!

In a nutshell, I couldn't recommend Rob and Laura/Samoa and Fiji Pocket Guides enough!

Do you want tips on the best places to stay, and the best places to go, in New Zealand and other south pacific countries? Look no further. We got the best tips and ideas for our trip to New Zealand from Robin and Laura. Our trip was filled to the brim of places to stay and things to do, and they helped us narrow things down so we could fit it all in. They even recommended things to do that we didn't know about. So worth checking out their websites, and asking them for help.
Oh and their YouTube channel has tons of helpful videos. Places to stay, things to do, how to hire (rent) a car, or use the bus system in New Zealand. Helped make our decisions even easier. We went twice to New Zealand and they helped with both trips, and we had the opportunity to grab coffee with them too. I will reach out to them again, if I ever make it out that way again (and I do hope to one day).

Do I trust NZ Pocket Guide's Rob and Laura? You bet I do! This year will make 3 journeys through which I have followed their guidance and suggestions for where to go, when to go, and what to do on my NZ adventures. I started following them in 2020. Their websites for countries in the South Pacific are invaluable. I appreciated all that free information so much that I became an active member of their Patreon community In 2022. One of the perks of my membership was a personalized itinerary based on my interests and my NZ bucket list. I can't thank Rob and Laura enough. They come through every time and I have enjoyed my trips to New Zealand so much.

When I started planning my last trip to New Zealand, I started searching the web to look at possible places to go, things to do and see and came across NZPocketguide.com. I found the information there very detailed and it covered all the details of things I was looking for such as places I wanted to see, what there was to do in those locations. Their site also provides other information such as information on car rentals and lists some travel/health insurance companies you might want to check out.

I'm glad I did as I'm one who feels better with insurance coverage, but all the companies I found in the US were way to expensive. I ended up going with one they listed as the price was right. Ends up I needed to use that policy and the company was quick to process the claims. I would have never found that company without NZPocketguide.com.

In addition to the website, Robin and Laura are great at answering questions and can provide more indepth help if you join their patron group, which I did.

Highly recommend their site for New Zealand trip planning and if I ever plan to go to other south pacific islands I'll check out their other sites as well.
