Every 6 month I go to the same trouble…

Every 6 month I go to the same trouble and have to exchange a dozen emails with their support because the website UI sucks, it's never clear if I have to re-pass the consultation or not and if yes, when and how. We should be prompted to take the necessary actions in due time and get email notifications when renewal is due, about to be processed if no further action is necessary and redirected the prescription page in due time... I always feel so blind and have to email support which btw takes like 3 to 5 days to answer, this is not acceptable.

Unauthorised charge and poor handling of refund

I did not place an order with this company, yet €179.40 was taken from my account and a product was sent to me without my knowledge or authorisation.

When I contacted them, I was initially told I needed to return the item within 14 days to receive a refund. I returned it promptly at my own cost (€11) and provided proof of postage.

After this, I was told it was a “technical error” and that a full refund would be issued without the need for return.

Despite that confirmation, and despite multiple follow-ups, I have still not received the refund. This has now been ongoing for several weeks.

I want to be clear that I am not reviewing the product itself, but the customer service and handling of this situation. Being charged for something I did not order, and then having to chase repeatedly for a refund, is not acceptable.

Very disappointing experience.

Poor product and bad refund policy

I received no warning before my subscription auto-charged. I then sent multiple emails and made several phone calls but received no response. Despite this, I was refused a refund on their most expensive product (finasteride).

The treatment also failed to stop further hair loss and caused side effects including an itchy scalp. Extremely poor service and a very disappointing experience overall.

Side Effects - Gynecomastia

I used the product for 1+ year, and found results beneficial initially. I began to experience male gynecomastia (which is painful, embarrassing, stressful). When I contacted the Sons team customer service were very helpful, but the medical director gave frustratingly little (and misleading) guidance or advice. He advised that there's almost no chance it was caused by their products. When I went to see an external breast specialist (after wasting more than €1,000 on medical related expenses alone) he said that this was almost certainly caused by Finasteride.

I felt let down by the unclear documentation in the patient information leaflet, and the advice by the medical director (he only has one prescribed medication to be an expert in, and either he's not an expert or else he is comfortable giving misleading advice).

I brought this to Sons attention in August last year, and they consistently tried to sweep it under the rug. I wanted this clearly documented in their patient information leaflet to stop others from wandering into the unknown and getting these potentially life-long side effects.. or to at least be in a position to make an informed decision. This issue went to Sons legal team in mid-November last year. At the time of writing this review (mid-Feb), they still have not responded to my concerns after multiple attempts to follow up.

Would Steer Well Clear

Ordered the Ultimate plan from them and received an order acknowledgment. Waited a week and had no further contact so gave them a call. They then told me there had been an issue with my order and it would be shipped the following day at which point I would receive tracking info. Waited another week still nothing. It is now almost a month later I have not even received a dispatched notification and when I try to contact them the phone is just ringing out and I am getting no reply to my emails. Wouldn't go near these guys again

I signed up for a subscription with…

I signed up for a subscription with Sons.ie for Minoxidil. Unfortunately my hair loss was later diagnosed as being something that could not be resolved by minoxidil.

Sons sent out the next supply, but were so helpful and courteous in accepting a return when I let them know I wasn't going to be able to continue using the product. Excellent communication, clear instructions on how to return the products, and a quick refund.

They are based in Derry so no long delays in getting your subscription delivered. Great packaging and instructions on how to use. Keen prices too compared to the brand available in pharmacies.

Highly recommended.

Highly Recommend

Loving the Sons Shampoo and Conditioner. I find it hard to get shampoos that don't dry out my scalp. This one is great and the conditioner too. Would highly recommend.

Amazing against hard water and hair loss

Have been using shampoo + conditioner for a month now. My hair was falling out and extremely dry from hard water. Signs of improvement were there within a week, no more breakages and no more hair falling out. Highly recommend against other men’s hair products for hard water effects/hair loss (I’ve tried a lot)

When ordering sons products it takes…

When ordering sons products it takes less then 5 minutes for you to decide what's gonna be best for you.
I'm one week into my prescribed products, and my hair already feels like there's some life back in it. Only thing negative I have is the nozzle on the minoxidil spray is to short for the bottle and clogs up.

Never got my order

Ordered more than a month ago and still haven’t received my order. They supposedly shipped it but I never received it. Got in contact with the customer service team and at first they were very rude about it, took more than a whole day to respond the first time and another 24 hours after that response to tell me a replacement order was placed and only because it was me who contacted them again, I’m guessing that if I never did it would’ve taken them longer or not even do it at all.

Now it’s been almost a month since that replacement order was placed and the order is still “Processing”, whenever I contact them they say they’ve contacted the pharmacy and that they will get back to me via email but they never do.

Very grateful with the customer service and products!

I am personally very happy with the service and resources provided.
Unfortunately I was having side effects with Finasteride from the Ultimate plan I was on, but the customer service was fantastic with me recently in letting me change to the Non-Prescription Advanced plan..
One of the customer service people, John, was amazing in talking about which subscription plan I should stick with, and I'm happy with the input.
I personally prefer the subscription way of treating with my hair loss, if you set up with an account and reach out with any concerns online you shouldn't have any issues.
I'm going into my next 6-month plan soon, and unfortunately the last 6 months didnt leave me with great results because I just wasn't as consistent with the products, aside the allergy reactions to Finasteride. But I'm very determined to use the Minoxidil spray twice a day, the Saw Palmetto Shampoo and Strethening Conditioner with Biotin every 2 days I shower, and the Hair Growth Complex Multivitamin+ Anagain supplement during the evenings that are said to help with hair maintenance and stimulate root growth and give a general boost. More info on the Hair Growth Complex supplement can be found on the Sons.ie website :)

For the moment I give this a 4-star review until I keep using my products consistently and keep track of my progress, and intend to then make a follow-up review with updates.

Thank you, and I'm determined to beat hair loss while I'm young and keep my hair in great condition while using these fantastic products!

I got their minoxidil product with 12…

I got their minoxidil product with 12 months subscription and get some irritation on the scalp which stopped me from using it. I didn't even expect anything, they called to follow-up on how it worked, I explained the problem and they suggested sending it back and gave me 11 months refund. While I am no longer a product user, I'm happy with service provided.

I am writing to express my extreme unhappiness with Sons.ie

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction and frustration regarding the recent transaction and subsequent customer service experience with Sons.ie. I have encountered a series of issues that have left me highly dissatisfied and disappointed with your company's practices.

On May 2nd, 2023, I made a purchase on your website for a three-month supply of [Product Name] using my debit card. To my astonishment, I discovered an unauthorized payment had been deducted from my bank account on the very next day. The payment was for the same three-month supply I had already purchased, resulting in an unnecessary and duplicated charge.

Immediately upon noticing the unauthorized payment, I contacted your customer service department to report the issue and request a refund for the duplicate charge. However, to my dismay, I was informed that Sons.ie does not offer refunds and that I would not be able to recoup the wrongly charged amount. This response is not only unfair but also demonstrates a lack of integrity on the part of your company.

Furthermore, despite my clear communication about the double payment, Sons.ie proceeded to process and ship another three-month supply to me, which I absolutely do not need. I had specifically mentioned this during my call with your customer service representative, yet my concerns were completely disregarded. This has caused unnecessary inconvenience and financial strain on my part, as I now have an extra three-month supply that I never intended to purchase.

To add insult to injury, I am still awaiting the delivery of this unwanted and unnecessary order as from today, May 15th. The delay in shipping compounds that I do not need however adding to my frustration, as it indicates a lack of efficiency and commitment to customer satisfaction. The fact that the order was processed and shipped without taking into account my complaint and request for resolution only adds to my dissatisfaction.

I demand immediate action to rectify this situation. Firstly, I insist on a full refund of the unauthorized payment that was deducted from my account. It is only fair that Sons.ie take responsibility for this mistake and reimburse me for the duplicated charge. Additionally, I expect a prompt cancellation and refund for the redundant three-month supply that was processed and shipped against my explicit request.

Furthermore, I request a thorough investigation into the unauthorized payment and immediate implementation of measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. Your company should take this matter seriously, as it not only tarnishes your reputation but also undermines the trust of your customers.

If my concerns are not addressed satisfactorily within the next 10 business days, I will have no choice but to escalate this matter to relevant consumer protection agencies, as well as post my negative experiences on various online platforms and social media. I trust that Sons.ie values its customers and will take the necessary steps to rectify this situation promptly.

As this is now a matter of principle I expect a written acknowledgment of this complaint within five business days from the receipt of this letter. Kindly provide a contact person's name and direct telephone number for future reference.

I sincerely hope that you will treat this matter with the urgency and seriousness it deserves. I look forward to a swift resolution to this issue.
