SimonCharles are a sort of legal scam company that plays within legal loop holes to sell you literal rubbish via inaccurate descriptions, using either blurry or altogether different photos to advertise items that are essentially scrap.
After 3 years and around £3600 spent, i can honestly say that 90-95% of all their bids are utter GARBAGE. You're paying to take their rubbish away essentially.
I can't tell you how many times i've bought things that were not as advertised in the pictures and/or had BIG DEFECTS that were NOT SHOWN in the pictures - and im pretty sure that's done on purpose. Or getting things that are not what's in the picture altogether.
When addressing any issue to them, they have all sorts of excuses like "the image is for illustration purposes only" or "you are supposed to come and see it in person" when the picture is blurry or unclear, as if you're gonna travel xx miles every time you want to bid for a coffee machine or a desktop mouse XD i mean they're just full of BS, they know it, but they also know they can get away with it. So, conclusion:
STAY AWAY, SAVE YOUR MONEY, as a final note. Unless you wanna pay to be their rubbish bin man
An item was posted tested and working in a premium auction...the item being an xbox and not cheap, simply did not work. They're did not offer a refund or any options at all. Awful company with awful customer service. How can they get away with stating tested and working on products that do not work. Do not buy anything from them I can't stress this enough.
I tried placing several bids on various items which had a END TIME but each time my bid (highest) got to within several seconds of the end time S C added 2 more minutes to the end time this happened several times .It seemed apparent that SC not getting the interest or anticipated price they wanted just kept extending the auction deadline .Their answer was that it was to stop sniping which makes NO sense ,if they want a certain price then they should place a reserve in their auction .
Another issue was a glitch ? in their system which was being placed in limbo when I placed a bid ( their system just stated that it was checking my bid ) which went on for about 30 seconds and continued after the close of the auction so I didn't know if my bid had been accepted or not .
Either way responses from the company are not helpful or do they foster any form of trust which has been confirmed when I have just looked at the others responses on this site .
Disappointed. First item arrived in days. 2nd (valuable and attractive) item still not received 2 weeks later. Standard copy paste email sent in response to my concerns saying Royal Mail have lost
“ Unfortunately, when entered into their website, it looks like we haven't actually given your goods to them. However, this is incorrect and I can assure you that your goods have indeed left our premises and are with the courier; we are just waiting for them to scan your item(s) into their network. For logistical and expediency reasons, we don't scan parcels out of our premises on to couriers' vehicles, so we are reliant on the courier scanning the items when they reach the local depot. Sometimes, unfortunately, this doesn't happen so we - and you - are left waiting for an update. However, if you are still without an update from Royal mail in the next day or so, please reply to this email and we will chase it up with them.”
3rd email and still waiting 😞 Meanwhile RM categorically state it’s not been received - not worth the hassle!
Sent me completely broken items and lied in the description. They are con artist selling broken and fake clothing. Do not buy from these people!!
Well having bought from these a couple of times, this time I looked at there designer clothing bought a Stone Island Polo Shirt, to find out it's FAKE / COUNTERFEIT. having found out top brands register there designer logos through a website CERTILOGO, this allows anyone to verify the authenticity of the clothing, I done this and it came back as FAKE / COUNTERFEIT. NOT HAPPY. NOT ONLY NOT HAPPY THE RESPONSE FROM SIMON CHARLES WASNT FILLING ME WITH CONFIDENCE,AS THEY SAID AS THEY TRY THERE BEST TO AUTHENTICATE DESIGNERS ITEMS THAT SOMETIMES FAKE/ COUNTERFEIT CLOTHING AND OTHER DESIGNER ITEMS WILL GET THROUGH THERE SALES, FOR ME THATS JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH AND NOT ACCEPTABLE, for me I needed to inform trading standards on this matter, the truth is if they try there utmost to not allow counterfeit/fake items to get through then why did Simon Charles not doing the simplest thing and done what I done which within the polo shirt there is an attached label reference CERTILOGO as mentioned before you enter that unique reference number that is only unique to that specific item of clothing if it's authentic it will tell you and no doubt give you a certificate of authentication, IN MY CASE IT GIVE ME A REPORT TO SAY ITS FAKE / COUNTERFEIT, and that report actually gets sent over to the retailer in this case SIMON CHARLES, I'm guessing they don't do these checks and therefore find it unacceptable.
To add to this having also bought a hoodie again with all the tags on etc this was a F1 MAERCEDES BRANDED HOODIE, I am actually in the process of contacting F1 MERCHANDISE to find out the authenticity of this item also.
Luckily I purchased through a credit card which gives me added protection to get my money back.
Simon Charles says they have destroyed this Stone Island Polo Shirt, let's hope so, cause I'm.keeo and eagle eye out incase it does pop up.
NO MORE AUCTIONS FOR ME YOU ALWAYS LOOSING YOUR MONEY BEFORE YOU START. One experience I can't forget, won't ever go back. It makes you wonder what else is going through the sales mmmm.
Bought two items both broken unfit for use.
Ilno bargains here you may as well donate the money to charity.
Bought once never again!!
Goods are only fit for the bin - don’t do it!!!
I would say online scams.
I have brought few times item as I was exited to bid but turned out that they sell broken things and lie to you on description.
First is about two screens both minor broken but I couldn't see them on pic.
And the second time was a pair of shoes send in wrong number and the colour didn't match.
I called them explaining about situation, and they send me return invoice by post. After I posted the item back to warehouse I didn't hear anything for two weeks. After I decided to email them asking about my case, but instead I got replied in very non professional ways emails like they look moore threatening than professional. That I won't get refunded or exchange and if I want the shoes I have to drive to get them. After few tries I give up with them. There was no way I was going to get solution.a least I'm choosing to give or share to other people my experience. I have left In Google more specific review about this case.
I bought an item and they lost it, guess what? a BUNK BED!! It took numerous phone calls and a dispute on the website to secure a refund. I don't remember dates but this was last year I think. It took quite many phone calls and a proper quarrel on the site to get refunded. One of the staff told me go buy from John Lewis near by. The second time I got 2 lamps. None worked, one was just a glass shade which could only fit to a particular lamp (ofcourse there was no lamp in the box. One should pay more and go for John Pye or similar. Atleast you would know the thing will work. The only thing you should buy from Simon Charles are the ones saying 'Brand New'
Got exactly what i bid for , Bit of a queue to collect items but just goes to show that if there`s a queue anywhere its because its very popular so i am not sure about some of the obviously bogus bad reviews on here.
I will certainly be coming back again
Disgraceful auctioneers. I would go zero stars but that’s not possible. I found this auction house November last year. I bid for a few small items and got some ok then not ok ones but they were £1 so no problem. I started bidding for more expensive items like shark, polti ect. One shark was counterfeit and the others came with other people’s hair, dust, dirt from carpets. ALL had parts missing. The best to date though is … wait for it, I bid for a boxed yard force lawnmower with trimmer. The trimmer arrived which was wrapped in polythene, unusable because the safety top was missing and NO LAWNMOWER. I got in touch with Simon Charles through the website and was told that the picture only showed the trimmer and it does state that parts can be missing. I argued that a lawnmower is not a part but a whole machine and the description said a boxed ect ect, to no avail. I did state that without prejudice they are deceitful and the photographs are meant to deceive.
My daughter returned an item which was as far as she knows was damaged in transit, a few days later it was put back into the auction with no mention of the damage, when I challenged them they said it shows the damage on the photo. It was an electrical item so would possibly be dangerous with a great big crack across the body of a steamer.
I too will be reporting them to trading standards. I urge everyone to write a review and let’s get them closed down. They are exploiting people who maybe can’t afford full price for goods or maybe can and wanting a bargain.
So today 14th January I went on their website and looked up Yard force lawnmowers. They are advertising one boxed Yard force lawnmower with trimmer. Looking at it at close detail it appears to have a lawnmower in the brown box minus the trimmer that doesn’t work which was sent to me. IS THAT THE PART THAT WAS MISSING OF MY LOT!!!! Mr Simon Charles
AVOID THIS SCAMMERS.
AVOID THIS SCAMMERS.
Auctioning counterfeit products it's against the law. Perfumes are all refilled with water or alcohol. Trading Standards should step in however i will report this company to them as it's unacceptable
I was a bit nervous after reading the negative comments but every item I have received has been top quality and in perfect working order. Delivery times have been great too.
DONT EVER BID EVEN IF ITS LESS THAN £1, THEY LIE, AND THEY STEAL FROM YOUNG AND OLD, YOU GO IN WITH GOOD INTENTIONS, AND THEY SCAM YOU IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!
THEY HAVE BIDDERS WHO ARE PART OF THE TEAM, THEY KEEP BIDING AGAINST YOU TILL YOU GO HIGHER.
IF YOU HAVE BERN SCAMMED CONTACT YOUR BANK IMMEDIATELY, DONT LET THEM INTIMIDATE YOU WITH THE STUPID CLAUSES AND USELESS DESCRIPTIONS, THEY ADVERTISE WITH LOVELY PHOTOS AND SEND DENTED FAULTY ITEMS, I WILL MAKE SURE THIS MESSAGE GOES ROUND EVERYONE SHOULD BE WARNED! SIMPLY DONT DO IT!
The worst company ever. They are selling broken items and non working electronics with high price.
And they don’t accept return items also I paid hammer fee and buyer’s protection fee extra.
This is a fraud company 👎
90 % of Electrical items don't work. Come not as in photos glass smashed pots broken.
The company tell me they use catalogue photos to depict the products they are selling. Therefore this doesn’t accurately reflect what you are buying.
The boxes of handcreams I purchased were all oily and stained. When you query they point you back to some vague terms and conditions which let them off the hook for everything.
I asked them to delete my account. They said they would lock it. I went back and asked them to delete it. No response at all.
I have no confidence in them.
awful experience and trying to pick up items is shambolic, why do they have time slots and then send the same slots to everyone , there must have been at least 30 people waiting to pick up items yesterday, car park full nowhere to park, lack of staff to help then you get your items and they are so damaged i had to send to the tip - be aware and guess what after this review they have blocked my account ha ha so childish i take it they don't like constructive criticism
This is a despicable company talk about gaining money by deception is an understatement . I bought an electic chair for a little old lady who has just had a bilateral hip replacement who lives on her own and has no family. On picking up the chair it came with an empty box with which the transformer should have been in and 7 feet for a chair with 4 legs . This chair will never work 😡😡how can you sell something that dosent work Having phoned and got through to an extremely rude person who had an awful attitude and was no help all only to tell me to email the management to which I did and got absolutely nowhere . The customer care is so bad . Please completely avoid using this company .
Gaining money by deception I call it !! They have no real customer complaints department, or an email to contact anyone to formally complain.
Sent me an item via DPD, who couldn't find my address, so returned it to SC !! they then demanded a further £7.99 payment for the postage !! original postage £4.99, when I asked why it had gone up, I was just fobbed off with "That's company policy"
The send out broken and faulty goods, never says that in the listing.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Dick Turpin was less of a thief
