I recently purchased an item from Simon Charles Auctioneers & Valuers that was listed as "boxed," which led me to believe it was in new or unused condition. However, upon receiving the item, I discovered that it was clearly used and faulty. This was not disclosed in the listing, and I feel misled by their description.
The lack of transparency and accuracy in their item descriptions is concerning, and it has made me question the reliability of their service. I would advise potential buyers to be cautious and thoroughly inspect items before committing to a purchase. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend Simon Charles Auctioneers & Valuers.
They don’t post pictures of items. Misleading information on the post. I bought BOXED SWAN DIRT MASTER LIGHTWEIGHT STEAM MOP.
What came in the box were the accessories and nothing else. I know they post that their goods are untested but don’t use misleading titles and use misleading pictures. They only posted the box with no other pictures, if the item had arrived faulty I would understand.
Best advice just stay away from the website. Just buy online.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS WEBSITE
They sell items as untested but all items are faulty with faulty test receipts on every item scammers wasted 3k on a pallet of electrical items all faulty dont waste your time
Hi I was bidding on a item today the bid exceed £205 and the website asked me to make a payment as a deposit which I did to secure the item and then tried to bid on the item but kept coming up with £205 that I need to make which then kept annoying which caused me to loose the item then I bidded on some other items which I won and I did expect to see the £205 in credit and go offf my winning but it shows in my payment as £205 deposit and the website wants more funds and just wanting to know will I get my money back if not definitely not using this website again
I have bought many items over the last couple of years and had some amazing bargains, the warehouse staff are always helpful.
There have been a few items that have been broken or not working but 9/10 have been great.
I would avoid returned electrical items , as these seem to be the most risky. Don’t overbid as you don’t know what condition things are in.
We have bought everything from furniture, clothes , shoes , plumbing stuff, bedding , lamps , lights , washing machines etc and am very happy . The only thing I would say is office staff are not too helpful, always check you got the right items before you leave.
Also items delivered are normally within a few days.
Completely awful received the item completely just no good completely broken not worth 5p let alone what I’ve paid for it. just don’t buy anything from them ever. They won’t give a refund. They won’t even entertain it.so this that means they just sell trash goods so don’t buy. Better to find item elsewhere. Will never spend another penny with this company
Awful. Do not recommend at all. Collected a pallet of goods. Nearly 30 items to only find out that 95% of said items were broken. George foreman was only half of it. The dual air fryer the face plate isn't even attached to it and missing drawers. Gtech hoover just the wheels. Nespresso coffee machine is in 3 pieces. The 13 piece cookware set consists of 4 items. Ninja dual stack the face plate is snapped and just about hanging on. I could go on but what's the point. I wished we could of viewed coz I would of walked away but living nearly 4hrs away isn't a simple task of just popping in. Absolutely disgusting. Spent nearly £300 on it all for it nearly all to go in the bin. Don't waste your money.
I know when you bid on these auction you take your chances but I got to say I didn’t think it would be this bad. I paid £287 in total for an unchecked returns pallet thinking some of it won’t be any good but I should make some money in it….NO, everything was knackered, not one think worked, parts missing, damaged and some things in the wrong box!!.I’m not putting this review on to complain I just want other bidders to be aware that things might look good but beware as they are in here for a reason, just remember when you are bidding !!
Please please Stay away from SIMON CHARLES…total scam ..they not even mentioned the faults. No proper pictures.. misleading with famous brands.. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STAY AWAY .Please Don’t waste your money
Total scam. I bought some items from here and was satisfied.. upon bidding agin I won a few lots it came to around 1k... I spoke to them on the Monday morning (on the phone) to make payment this was about 950 am... I was told to go online and pay in the meantime I had a customer so logged in to pay around 10.10 am for my account to be blocked so I rang back and was informed my account was banned and the won items would be sold to someone else.. I said I'm 10 mins late can't I pay now to be told no... then I ask for my account unlocking and my 200 deposit back to be told they are keeping the deposit but my account can be unlocked.... hope the 200 was worth losing a customer who would of spent around 2k a month there.
Scammers at its worst
I have bought several items from SC however it seems SC has decided to make many auctions collection only, i understand this for large or heavy items but it applies to some easily posted items as well, SC auctions are increasingly becoming Premium auctions meaning you need to pay a non refundable yearly £20 just to be able to bid, good for SC not so good for bidders or sellers.
Both the above mean sellers are not acheiving the best price as auctions are limited to bidders that can collect or bidders willing to pay £20 per year for the privellage of bidding.
Team is amazing. We bought few things and even though they are always busy at SK9 site, they are helpful. Adam is a gem. He has been so helpful.

Some of the warehouse staff are extremely rude and condescending.
Today, I had to go and collect 3 items, I went to the Customer Collection point, of course as previous visit no-one is there and no-one comes, 20 minutes pass, A Royal Mail collection guy comes in waits a couple of minutes, asks how long I have been waiting, and then steps to the warehouse door and shouts for someone. A chap comes deals with the Royal Mail guy and then promptly just walks off.
I wait 5 more minutes and then step forward to the warehouse door and shout, "Hello is anyone doing collections please"
What I presume is a Warehouse Supervisor, then comes along tells me I'm being rude and doesn't have to deal with that as he's dealing with a shortage of staff at present! as though that's my fault.
I've now been there 30 minutes
Finally 5 minutes later a member of staff appears without an ounce of apologies or anything to finally sort out the collect.
No Customer Support or Manners. Just rude
Very unhelpful if you make a mistake. I have used them before and had a good experience. They say that a company shows it's true colours when there is a problem. Deleted the app won't be doing any further business with them again.
Mixed experience with this company. Probably more negatives than positives. I have received some really nice things and they post your items quickly. Big tick. However, I have had to return a significant amount of high end designer garments that I suspected to be counterfeit. They refunded me fairly quickly and sent a packing label. Big tick. However, it took me 3 days to go through all the garments and check their authenticity. It wasted an awful lot of my time and caused a massive amount of stress which I do not need. I wouldn’t buy the high designer goods again because of that experience. The lower end goods I would buy. Regarding electronics, I bought a ninja kettle which works perfectly. My latest negative experience happened today; I duly paid my last invoice within the 24 hour time period although the Worldpay payment service was a little bit ‘off’. I had to make two attempts and the icon was paused for a few minutes. I thought it had gone through. I then received an email to say that I have been locked out of my account for 4 weeks for non-payment of an invoice! I rang up, the girl was very nice, but said I could not pay my invoice - this was 6 minutes after the 24 hour period had expired! The goods which I had bid on would be auctioned again. To say that I’m feeling hard done by is an understatement! I’ve been a very good customer, I’ve never paid an invoice late. Ever. Also, it was the Worldpay service which was defective! It wasn’t like I hadn’t tried to pay! So, no goods, no account access and this is after I spent 3 days doing their job in checking their goods for authenticity. So, yes, I’m very disgruntled and disappointed. I’m always very polite with the staff in all my communications and let’s be fair, I’ve been treated like s**t.
I have never seen bigger scammers. I bought a boxed 12v electric kids' motorcycle, and half the parts were missing. It’s not working, dirty, and clearly has been used a lot.
The parasol is broken as well. I will never buy anything from them again.
Scammers!!!!!
Poor experience. I bought a dressing table but the staff gave the wrong items to me and I had provided the goods photo to them. They replied seems like I was lying/cheating behaviour because I did not open it before I left there and just got home. I feel that this is my carelessness rather than their responsibility.
PLEASE TAKE NOT EXPECT A LETTER FROM THE INLAND REVENUE CALLING YOU IN THEY WILL GO THROUGH ALL BANK ACCOUNTS SIMONE CHARLES HAS STARTED GIVING ALL YOUR DETAILS TO THE INLAND REVENUE
Turns out you haven't got a leg to stand on if your item is faulty regardless of the amount of money spent, we have not checked these items and cannot guarantee it, gives them cart blank rights to sell any rubbish. Absolute crooks dont deal with them
I was one of the few that spoke up fro Simon Charles. I accepted that you take a chance and most of the time it has paid off for me.
That was until recently....
I won 3 auctions 2 weeks ago and travelled 2.5hrs to collect my items. I followed all the advice, booked my slot and set out in plenty of time.
When I arrived, on time, I was told they were not letting anyone in due to lack of staff. I couldn't believe it. They could not care less that people had. Travelled long distances. They were just turning everyone away. By 3pm they had closed up completely even though people were still turning u pto collect.
I asked for a refund as I won't be able to make the long journey again. I have since been messed around wtih unanswered emails and generally poor customer service to avoid giving me my refund. It looks as if I will now have to take legal action or dispute via my bank.
Please avoid. These people are amateurs.
