Shurgard lost all we had!!!! In preparation for a house move I convinced my husband to rent a storage place and move our things there. I thought this would make moving day easier on us. Little did I know, we were about to lose all we worked for our whole life. For nearly 400 pound a month you would expect this place is secure. We were assured it was and we were told all our possessions would be safe there. Over the Easter weekend a gang of 4 lowlife thugs of which one was Shrugard customer spent 2 days stealing all things of any value from our storage place. Shrugard showed us no compassion, no support, no apology. This thieving Shrugard customers left some things behind so we still pay nearly 400 pounds a month. The area manager for Ipswich Shrugard said it's not his problem or responsibility and he cannot show me and my husband any sympathy or at least review our storage charges. I guess he is just another part of the scam lowlifes!!!. Disgusting man. Stay away if u have a choice. Go to Yellow storage in Colchester. Do not make the mistake we made. We lost so much in personal possessions and money as we still need to be here for a couple of more months. Once we are gone, I will try to repair what shrugard destroyed but it will take time!!!

Hey Shurgard "customer" service team. I've been alerted to your reply below which is nothing but a cruel joke because you posted EXACTLY the same response to my husband's negative post in an attempt to create the illusion that you really care and will do something if only you had the customer's phone number. Well guess what!!!! After you posted your reply against his post he DID email you with his details 2 weeks ago and you have not bothered to call to discuss the issue nor offered any recompense. So I will not even waste a moment of my time sharing my contact number with you as its all one big CRUEL ruse that you enjoy playing on your poor customers!!!!

I rent two units one of which had my prized Sneakers collection going back 20years. Over the Easter weekend my unit was emptied of all my entire sneakers collection including dress shoes from Clarks essentially ANYTHING that was in a shoe box was taken. Including my wife’s shoes too. Nearly 250 pairs ALL gone by one of their customers caught on CCTV. And all I got from the manager at my Crane BLVD branch was a shrug and told report it to the police and file your claim. Police have been sitting on the report since Tuesday noon and Shurgard’s insurers Marsh, based out of Belgium have disclaimed my claim. Apparently I was not to have stored anything of sentimental or irreplaceable value in the locker that they’ve just sent me an invoice for this morning to rub salt into the wound!!!! Be careful and read the small print guys!!! These companies are ALL cut from the same immoral cloth!!! Disgusting and disgraceful way to treat their customers!!! Utterly immoral!!!

Do not be fooled by the request for my details etc believing Shurgard went on to contact me and offer an apology or resolution of sorts. I can co firm that I immediately emailed them and gave my telephone number on the day they requested it. And lo and behold, it’s now 18/04/26 and I’ve not heard anything from anyone at Shurgard!!! Not a pipsqueak, no apology, no explanation as to how this thief somehow knew that of the 800 units at the site, ONLY my unit, was the worthy one to rob!!! He could only have been fed this nugget of information by an insider!!! Were it not for Suffolk Constabulary dragging their feet with the investigation they might unearth something disturbing about this whole theft!!!

So the long and short is Shurgard promise you your treasured goods will be safe in their custody but nothing could be further from the truth. Not only will your precious personal items get stolen by one of their very own customers….the insurance they pressure sell you is about as useful and helpful as a £3 note!!!!

I would give 5 stars to the staff but our experience from the company was not so good. We were satisfied existing customers of Lok’n’Store when it was taken over last year by Shurgard. First few months were seamless. Then we received invoice with extra charge for Shurgard insurance. Apparently we had an email saying we should have signed another form to declare we had our own - even though we had signed previously. We were abroad and could not sign until return in order to get the insurance charges refunded. After 6 months with Shurgard we received email that our rental would increase by 16%. This seemed cynical as our rental was already 25% higher than the standard rate offered to new Customers and a staggering 150% (2.5x) more than latest promotion deal. We understand a business will offer deals to new customers and it’s luck of the draw. But increasing our rental above the standard rate seems taking advantage of existing customers (it’s in the contract that Shurgard have the right to increase rental after 6 months). When we queried the increase we were told to downsize if we wanted to pay less. We have now moved area but changed Self Store provider as Shurgard does not offer promotional deals for transfer customers. Bottom line is that short term new customers are likely to rate Shurgard highly for price and service. But longer term loyal customers may not end up being so happy.

i was not expecting to be able go rent a storage unit and for it to be ready in less than 3 minutes ... and that in a saturday
i just went online and rented and in when i got there i only had to set up the access app.

The team are very nice and helpful; professional and polite. The facility is easy to use.

Once I mastered the app entry system it's been very easy. Friendly staff. Clean and tidy storage. Recommend.
