Sharetown is a logistics company that recruits associates who are willing to pick up large items from homes in their area (furniture, mattresses etc.) and resell those items on platforms like Facebook Marketplace. After applying to become a rep for them, they forwarded a webinar explaining how they assign jobs which reps are not free to accept or decline. The reps use their own resources - insured vehicle, manpower, fixing furniture and reselling it. Sharetown then monitors the entire process of pickup, repairs, storage and reselling the items using a "support" team. At the end of it, they take a cut of approximately half of the resell price. Sharetown treats their associates as if they were their employees even though they offer no job security or any other benefits, like a normal employer would.

Half the resell price is a large cut considering that the associates do most of the work, while Sharetown already receives a pickup payment from the furniture companies that offer return & pickup deals to their customers (this is coming from someone who's had first hand experience with waste removal businesses).

This company exploits people who are looking for an honest side hustle. Don't fall for it!
