Psychiatric service dog training course and air travel certificate
I recently had the opportunity to take an online psychiatric service dog training course, which also included training for airplane travel with a service dog with service dog training school international. Overall, I found the course to be incredibly helpful and informative.
The course was well-organized and easy to navigate, with clear instructions and video demonstrations of various training exercises. The instructors were knowledgeable and experienced, and they provided personalized feedback on our progress throughout the course.
One of the things I appreciated most about the course was the emphasis on positive reinforcement training techniques. The instructors stressed the importance of building a strong bond with your dog and using rewards and praise to encourage good behavior. This approach made the training process more enjoyable for both me and my dog, and I saw noticeable improvements in her behavior and obedience as we progressed through the course.

It is our goal to divide our training courses into step-by-step lessons that are easy to follow. This will ensure that handler-dog teams will enjoy the training and not feel overwhelmed.
We definitely put emphasis on positive reinforcement as a training method, as we believe this is the way training should be conducted. A happy dog means a happy handler after all.
Flying with a service dog is also an important topic for many service dog handlers. That is why being knowledgeable of service dog regulations, airlines' policies, and how to prepare a service dog for an airport environment, is essential for the quality of the support we provide.

I really appreciate being able to do the work on my own at home. I had a lot of fun doing the assignments with my dog, I enjoyed seeing my dogs progress and knowing, as a learning dog trainer that I had already been teaching my dog all of the skills that are in the courses that I took! I am glad to be on the right path to starting my life long job that I love. The videos and courses were very helpful and the videos were easy to understand, however the reading part of the courses were really hard to understand and get across, a lot of the lessons had spelling errors and a lot of it was grammatically incorrect. I would not be complaining about this if it were only a few but the amount that I found was astonishing, especially for a school that has a lot of people taking your classes, your trying to teach others how to teach their dogs but they are not understanding what your say because the lessons aren't grammatically correct. I was super excited to find out about this school because there's nobody really in Tallahassee that can train service dogs. I have a friend that helps me out if I need but she mostly is a therapy dog trainer and she works at TMH, I love that I have someone that can help me but am glad to do my own training so that I can be a service dog trainer that can help others. I work at the Puppy ladies now and love what I do.

Training school and instructors are amazing and skillful
This training was absolutely fabulous and intense. I started training with another school and immediately found it not to be authentic. Susana and the entire team were there to help me every step of the way. I had several issues I had to call about, and they guided me through so that my dog could perform the task at hand successfully. I learned so much from this course and highly recommend it!!!

Fabulous school for my dog to have Psychiatric Service Dog Training. The courses are not only to help your pet learn, but for you to work better with your dog. The trainers will give you detailed feedback on your exams, photos, and videos. They are very responsive if you have any questions.

I can’t tell you great the school is. Very helpful and fantastic communication. It’s a blessing to be able to take my dog places he was allowed before. The cost of training is extremely reasonable worth every dollar. Response to questions is almost immediate! I’d recommend this school to anyone. It’s well worth it!

I was looking for a reputable and comprehensive training program for both me and my dog. With every lesson I learned so much - not in great ways to train my pup - but in what I should expect from my dog, the authorities and the law. The entire experience was perfect. Vincent was always encouraging and available to explain questions that I had. I was initially nervous about filming, but even that went like a charm. My Yukon responded well to the training and has made me more and more proud of him. Love this school!

Awesome Dog Training School!
Service Dog Training School International is simply awesome! The written content is comprehensive and very well written. There are also many video clips to illustrate the techniques. I like that we have to take tests to prove our knowledge and upload videos of our training that are reviewed by our Tutor trainer. My dog and I learned a lot and really enjoyed ourselves. I will be enrolling on another course soon.

The right path to take with your best friend
This is an excellent course and the diploma is a must have to certificate how seriously is the path you want to take with your best friend.
The staff is amazing, all the classes are perfect, well done, very objective, fast and easy to understand.
If you want to know more about these subjects, this is the right way to do it!
This certificate meant a lot to us, and because of it, we were able to start helping kids on school in Brazil, with the assisted therapy.
We are proud to be the first two therapist dogs in school for kids with Autism in Rio de Janeiro.

Amazing experience with course!
Amazing experience with the course. The lessons and information are in depth and simplify the training for your dog. Additionally they provide an abundance of information that opens your eyes to the multitude of support systems service dogs can while giving you lots of information so you can easily advocate for yourself if need be. Julie was an ANGEL when I needed quick support for flight plans and service dog applications. She truly cares and even followed up to make sure all went through. Love their mission and genuine care.

Overpriced for what it offers
Overall, the course is very overpriced for what it offers. While I appreciated the organization and their customer service, I felt that the course itself did not offer much that is different from the free resources available through a quick google search. The videos provided very little help as they were often the exact same as the reading exercises . It would be much more valuable if there were videos of a trainer going through the training with an actual dog, instead of an animated cartoon. As well, there is very little training provided for the actual service animal psychiatric tasks. The program only lists these tasks and briefly touches on a few of them but it is no where close to the support that would actually be needed for a handler to teach the content to their service animal. If you are doing this just to get the service animal certification, you are better off buying the certification/ ID card from other sites, especially since the $349 does NOT include an ID card. You must pay an additional $50 for the ID card, which expires after 12 months. Other sites offer ID cards and service animal numbers that never expire and are much cheaper to purchase.

There are many free resources available online, that can provide you with information on how to train a dog or a service dog. However, many people quickly realize that the lack of structure, and feedback by professional trainers, do not contribute to their training progress, but it is quite the opposite! You might find it hard to understand what the right approach towards your dog is, how to properly conduct training and address any behavioral issues, or at what level you and your dog currently are as a team. These are key disadvantages that freely available resources have compared to well-prepared training programs which include full tutor support.
During the training process, we never received your feedback in regard to the program or any questions you may have had. If you were interested in additional service dog tasks, our team would have helped you in the best way possible! We always provide additional information to our students as needed. The main idea of our courses is for them to be informative, without being overwhelming. That is why we have included animated videos on purpose. They are short and very easy to follow so even people with no training experience, would be able to understand the concept.
The PSD course is quite detailed and includes even more tasks than the standard PSD tasks, included in most programs such as Deep Pressure Therapy and tactile stimulation. You probably understand, that we can not include all possible tasks in one training program, as these depend on the person's needs, and thus vary from a person to person. We believe that our PSD course is very informative and your description: "briefly touches on a few of them", does not apply to it at all.
Selling training certificates without requiring a dog to go through proper training, is not only immoral but also illegal. "Just purchase a certificate"- this is not advice that we would ever give to a person, who actually qualifies for a service dog! We require photos/ videos as proof of training as well as correct answers to various theoretical questions before we issue a certificate.
Service dog training gear is not required by law in many countries, which is why ID cards are not explicitly included in our service dog programs. Students are free to purchase an ID card from our member store. Since ID cards are considered official documents, these need to be regularly renewed, i.e. if a dog is unable to continue performing the needed tasks if he/she passed away, or in case any information on the ID card needs to be updated. Providing ID cards valid for a lifetime as well as selling certificates without requiring proof of training are not good practices.
We hope that you will find a program that will suit your needs in the best way possible!

This bundle is a good choice for young dogs who need to go through the basics first prior to moving to more advanced service dog tasks. We have done our best to make our programs easy to understand and as helpful as possible. Our team members are true dog lovers, who have a lot of experience in dog training and are always at our students' disposal for training advice. Psychiatric Service Dog Training
The Psychiatric Service Dog Training course is the class my dog and I took. I started training my dog using YouTube videos, but this program is standardized and helped me to tighten my dog's training. It also helped to make me aware of my rights and responsibilities as a handler. My only complaint is that Session 5 Part 1 should have options to choose behaviors to upload instead of licking and nudging specifically. I need pressure and prefer never to be licked. As a Doctor of Education, I teach the most difficult creatures one can educate--teenagers. The PSD curriculum followed best practices for education with easy-to-understand guidance for people who are not teachers.

However, training a dog via structured lessons which make a smooth transition from basic knowledge to advanced tasks, especially when tutor support is included, can be more effective.
We also appreciate your feedback in regard to Session 5! It has been taken into consideration. Our students can adjust the process to their needs and focus on the tasks that actually work for them. If you feel you do not want your paw friend to lick you, you can change the task (i.e. licking at your hand, instead of licking at your face) or entirely skip it. We are here to help and provide guidance in regard to all tasks included in the lessons. You and your service dog are a really great team, and we wish you the best of luck!
Total waste of money
There was no actual service dog training at all. Just a bunch of simple commands and simplistic questions. Even their videos were designed for a 5 yr old.
Teaching a dog basic commands is not going to help train them to be service dogs. What this course teaches is basic dog manners 101. I signed up for three courses, hoping that each one would be a bit more intense than the prior one. NO such luck. Don't waste your money. It's a total rip-off.

According to our records, you completed the programs, you were enrolled in, in September. You never gave us any feedback in regard to your experience during the training process or right after you completed the courses. Otherwise, we would have done our best to make it up to you.
Also, it is important to note that, that some programs like the Canine Good Citizen Course, are specifically designed to help people train their dogs in basic obedience commands only and do not include service dog training.
The lessons and the videos are quite understandable, so people who have no training experience, can follow them and benefit from them.
Our service dog training programs, on the other hand, are very detailed and include both basic obedience training (which is mandatory for service animals) and specialized service dog tasks, that vary based on the program.
Also, our students / potential students are able to check the learning plan of all programs on our website in the Syllabus section and evaluate whether the tasks included would work for them or not.
We are really sorry that you have had such a negative experience with our courses! We can assure you that have put a lot of time and effort into creating our courses to be easy to access and help people train their own service dogs or companion animals!
