The description of items was accurate. The dealers, without exception were prompt and helpful. Even when not looking for anything in particular I search on a daily basis as there is much to learn and discover. Poor website
Poor website. Mobile version totally rubbish.
Different rules for different dealers. Some people post photos from back of their cars???!! Some photos blurry and with clutter around so you can’t see what are you looking at. No useful updates for sellers. No automatic reposting of stock like on other sites. Unverified dealers selling dodgy stock like royal house antiques etc. Dealers are moving away to more seller friendly sites.

Thank you for your candid feedback. We are constantly working to improve the user experience, and we agree that our mobile version needed improvement and was updated in Sept 2025.
Regarding your note on reposting, we intentionally do not allow manual or automatic reposting. Instead, we use a "churn" system that automatically re-assigns stock positions every week. We implemented this policy because we found it creates a much fairer marketplace for all dealers, ensuring everyone gets equal visibility without the unfair practise of re-uploading.
We take your concerns regarding photo quality seriously, and we will use your feedback to help us better enforce our standards and improve the platform moving forward.
Poorly run website
Poorly run website. Not seller friendly. Other sites automatically relist old stock after few weeks which often results in sales. Moreover some dealers get special treatment from management, they can relist and duplicate stock, they don't have to type dimensions in required fields and can post not up to scratch photos, other dealers are penalise for all the above. The site loses 5-7 dealers every week, they move to better maintained and dealer friendly sites.

We were incredibly surprised and disappointed to read this, especially after such a long relationship. You were a Sellingantiques dealer from 2011 until you unexpectedly closed your membership in August 2025 without any explanation. What went wrong between us? We wish you had simply called Paulo to discuss any concerns directly, rather than posting an unconstructive public review filled with unfounded claims.
To be absolutely clear: all of the allegations in your review are false. We do not offer special treatment to any dealers. Every member is held to the exact same platform rules regarding photo quality, required dimensions, and our stock management system.
We recently saw the news that Nimbus Antiques has closed its doors for good (April 2026). While lashing out publicly with false accusations is a disappointing way to end a 14-year relationship, we are genuinely sorry to hear that your business has shut down. We wish you the best in your future endeavours and are here if you wish to re-join in a new capacity.

Selling Antiques. Buyer Beware.
Be Very careful when buying a vintage pocket watch via this site from "vintage wrist watches". What I was told when I made an enquiry by telephone regarding condition of a particular watch. Was Not what I expected upon examination when I received it!.
The watch was not as described and the item was returned on the same day as received. The seller was notified. Sadly their response was a complete denial refuting my reasons for a return. A refund was made which is the only positive I have from this poor experience.

Trust is a rare thing
I completely agree with some of the previous reviews. Learning from my experience, one must be very careful when buying antiques using this website even from dealers who are affiliated to reputable antiques associations such as LAPADA. I have had problems with dealers such as Cloverleaf and Webberley antiques, etc. Their photos have been nicely photoshopped to embellish their antiques. Cloverleaf even shows a photo of their LAPADA certificate to accompany each of their pieces to suggest the piece has been approved by the association. This is very misleading. My suggestion would be to request additional photos for the piece you are considering, preferably taken outside without any artificial light and showing every possible angle of the piece. Another problem is the use of untrustworthy couriers who can cause a lot of upset. I would suggest to request the dealers to guarantee delivery for a certain date before sending them payment. In conclusion, extreme caution is needed when using this website as there are no regulations or code of conduct.

Don't buy jewellery from Selling Antiques
The continuing saga of jewellery returned to Selling Antiques! Website says you can use Amex. But we have been charged 20% for removing a tag and instead of receiving refund to Amex it was credited to PayPal account which my husband does not have! Beware!

Do remember that this is just a marketplace hosting any number of dealers without any check on their honesty or integrity. There is no system for reviews of individual members. Some sellers on here are members of professional antique dealers associations eg Bada, Lapada and Cinoa giving some confidence in their expertise and integrity.
The guiding principle here is caveat emptor - let the buyer beware. My experience has been mixed, I have bought some good genuine pieces of antique furniture and I have bought some duds from shady characters. The latest dud was a so called gilded bronze Sino-Tibetean deity dated circa 1900. I should have known better the dealer had "Quality" in his company title (always suspicious when they trumpet that) and the piece still had foundry ash inside its hollow interior -obviously cast within the last year if not the last week!. So the lesson is buy very very carefully and if in any doubt don't. I may add that for some non-accredited dealers the term Georgian is used promiscuously and erroneously. One swanky London dealer had a (very good) obviously Edwardian cabinet described as Georgian and this item was over £1,000. Great idea, ruined by too much bad taste French rubbish.
A sound enterprise which works well if you find something you cannot live without (happens frequently) and never experienced any difficulty with any of the traders. BUT: the site has disappointed me in two ways recently: first it is gradually filling up with French rubbish that I wouldn't allow in my house if you paid me double the asking price, and second, for the first time in years I am conscious of the same items going round on a cycle, presumably because things are not selling like they used to. I reached my boredom threshold now and will probably not bother to look at the site for quite some time.

I have used this site to buy a beautiful wardrobe. The site has many antique dealers in one place. I sent an email to the seller Abacus antiques, via the site and got a prompt reply. The seller was great and the wardrobe arrived within a few days - quicker than a high street furniture company. Brilliant. I will definitely use them again.
