I booked a room at The Gillette in Gatlinburg, TN through Agoda and made an honest mistake on the dates. I contacted Agoda immediately to request a date change. What followed was one of the most frustrating, dishonest, and exhausting customer service experiences I have ever encountered.
Agoda told me the hotel had not approved any changes to my booking. That was false. I contacted The Gillette directly and received a written email from a staff member confirming the room was available, the date change was approved, and that Agoda simply needed to process it. I forwarded this documentation to Agoda. They never acknowledged their false statement, never apologized, and never processed the change.
By the time Agoda finished stalling, my conference dates had passed. I had already been forced to book and pay for alternative accommodations entirely out of pocket. I received absolutely nothing from the original $224.06 booking.
Agoda then offered me a credit in the form of "AgodaCash" — not a real refund — which I rejected. They then quietly withdrew even that offer. When I demanded a cash refund, they called me before 7:00 a.m. and ultimately responded with a carefully worded email denying any responsibility and refusing any refund.
Their final response mischaracterized the hotel's written approval as merely a "willingness to review" a request. That is not what the documentation says. The hotel approved the change. Agoda chose not to act on it.
I am now pursuing a credit card chargeback and filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and the Tennessee Division of Consumer Affairs.
Agoda had every opportunity to make this right. They chose not to at every turn. Book elsewhere — there are far more reputable platforms that will actually advocate for you when something goes wrong.
Agoda has my money and are not giving it back.

Over a year ago I was scammed by some fraudulent.
They bought or rented something with my money, I don't know what. I contacted Agoda at once and tried to get them to stop the payment, they didn't. Since then I have been writing back and forth with them. They have told me that they know I was scammed and that they have my money, but even that they know they are not giving it back.
The way I was fraud make my bank unable to contact Agoda the official way, but they have e-mailed Agoda at least twice, but have not got any response to that. Both my bank and Agoda knows that I was scammed, someone ordered/bought someting in their name with my money.
Agoda is not giving back what they know is mine, they just keep it. That is so WRONG!!

This application is completely unreliable. I booked a hotel through Agoda and the full amount was deducted from my account. However, due to a technical error on Agoda’s side, the hotel asked me to pay again upon arrival. When I contacted Agoda’s customer service, they handled the situation with extreme negligence, leaving me waiting for a whole day without resolution. At check-in, I was left standing outside for two hours, unable to enter my room until I paid the additional amount directly to the hotel. Agoda then unjustifiably refused to amend my booking, refund my payment, or cancel the reservation. Dealing with them was exhausting—booking with Agoda is nothing but a recipe for ruining a customer’s trip, turning it from a planned vacation into an experience of unnecessary hardship and frustration.

Like every one wrote here, avoid at all cost Agoda... Just a scam... Cashback is a scam and I reported it to Singaporean Anti Scam board. They overcharge booking by 20 to 30% with the promise of giving back this excess after 6 months. For the ones who did not forget it, well the cashback never comes ! No support of course, bots online making you loop ang go nowhere hoping you give up after heaps of frustration. Stay clear away.

Just here to say Agoda is hands down one of the worst companies I’ve ever dealt with.
Back in December 2024, I booked a hotel in Bali with a cashback offer ($120) It’s now April 2025 and guess what? Still no cashback.
I’ve contacted Agoda 10 freaking times, and every time they just send the same robotic reply asking for my bank or credit card statement to “prove” I didn’t receive it. Like seriously? You can’t check your own records to see if you issued the cashback? What kind of backwards system is this?
They’ve made this process deliberately exhausting, hoping I’ll give up. And after doing some searching, it’s clear I’m not alone—tons of people never receive their cashback, and most of them are sent in circles or ignored.
This company is cunning, dishonest, and shady as hell. They flash cashback offers to bait you into booking, then ghost you or make you jump through endless hoops when it’s time to actually pay up.
Don’t fall for it. Don’t book through them. They don’t respect customers and will absolutely waste your time and patience.

Booked a hotel in Cambodia for three weeks, changed our mind cancelled. They refunded our money minus £60 I wrote to them as it appeared they made me pay in dollars their exchange rate and refunded me in pounds their exchange rate. No acknowledgement or addressing the issue. Disappointing, I won’t use them again

We booked a room at the Gallivant in New York through Agoda. The moment we checked into our room we observed how dirty i and unkept the room was. We brought it to customer service who stated it was an old building but agreed to switch our room. The second room we received was also not in great condition. We again brought it to customer service. For the price we paid we were completely unsatisfied with the Gallivant and wanted to cancel the rest of our reservation. They offered us an upgrade to a “premium” room to try to rectify the issue and if we were still not satisfy we would be able to speak with the manager in the morning. Even the premium room was filthy. We started the cancellation process by contacting Agoda in the morning. Agoda agreed to refund as long as Gallivant agreed. We spoke with the manager and they stated we were set and we left. A few days later we received an email from Agoda offering a joke of $20. We disputed that and they offered another $61 as a credit and stated that was their maximum refund amount. If that was the case we would have just sucked it up and remained. Do not book through Agoda.

I am a 41 year old solo traveller as a healer and a health care practitioner and professional i feel insulted on my present visit here, a personal item was stolen out my room it was valuable to me because my child had bought it. It was an exclusive cup/mug for tea drinking ONLY i bought from home to use on holiday, had my room cleaned on 11.11.2024 and this item went missing on my return that early hrs of the morning so reported it late on the 12th .11.2024. I was told it would be looked into. On the reporting they said there was nothing to be done that night and I should inquire about it the next day 13th 11.2024 on this day ive been met by hostility and attitude by the staff at reception I was accused of lying when it was of no money value it was of sentimental value. I’m writing here because now it’s principle. As a manager myself, i am astounded how THE MANAGERS wasn’t interested very dismissive and didn’t really care. I was told they wanted to see a photo of the missing item in my room a previous photo of it in the room to confirm that it was there i needed to take a previous photo to confirm that it was there and I'm telling the truth Wtf ? why would I take a photo of a cup just incase its stolen? Why would I report something of no value if it's not true.... all the management said is why didn’t I put it in the safe. Which makes no sense. Why would i put a cup in a safe? i was blamed for maybe leaving it with other guests when I hadn’t even taken it out of my room. It is used to have tea in the morning and night before I go to sleep and when awake. I am absolutely flabbergasted with their responses and attitude. Yet on arrival I had to give 10000 thb or my passport just incase I damage anything yet not a care in the world from them when I’ve been a victim from their staff as I said its an classical exclusive cup why it was stolen. On top of that, the Internet is completely useless with such a big property that there need to be thought out, maybe more hot spots and Internet access. Why would I report something like a cup if I wasn’t telling the truth it's insane. The fact that there is no investigation into who cleaned my room is also why it’s been taken. The cleaner in question knows that there is no comeback in this situation. I could not wait to leave. I am stupid to see lots of people complaining about different things, and still I decided to stay here
It’s basic, not my usual choice, but due to staying in the country for such a long time, I thought it would be a good cheap option for me. On this matter the main lady and man on reception was disgustingly, dismissive and uninterested the man one telling me to call the police in a rude manner and a hand gesture to say go away and that he wanted to see the cup in the room in a photo as proof utterly ridiculous or that I should have put it in the safe..... it’s a cup of personal sentiment. On breaking the news to my son, I agreed with him when he said “ Why did you go to a crap hotel? You get what you pay for” Absolutely, the truth is. If you do something they don’t like you’ll be charged for it without care this I’ve seen with other customers. In this hotel, THE PAYING CUSTOMERS ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT. ACCORDING TO THEM ITS THE CHOICES AND THEIR RULES, regardless of how you feel or can prove.... THE CLEANER WHO HAS TAKEN IT, you're disgusting, not an ounce of respect for yourself and the job you do. Just know people reading this I would NEVER complain or write this if it was not true it’s of no money value.

Cleaners are thefts my suggestion is if you decide to stay LOCK 🔐 YOUR BELONGINGS AWAY IN YOUR SUITCASE BEFORE LEAVING EVERYDAY I ended up not letting anyone clean my room, I went to another hotel I didn't feel comfortable after that.

I made a booking on AGODA for between the 8th and 12th July 2024. I was in The Philippines at the time. My Hayya Visa for Qatar did not come in in time so I had to reschedule my ticket. I promptly informed the hotel of this development and they asked me to contact Agoda. When I contacted Agoda, first the agent said I will be charged for 2 nights which I agreed to then later I was told I will not be receiving any refund. I find their conduct fraudulent and extortionist. I am demanding for a refund.

Disreputable and many would consider illegal practices. There was an error with my booking (I believe due to the date being changed on their system between first visiting the site and completion and making a booking). Hard to prove but watch out when you book. Customer support agreed they'd cancel the booking if the hotel agreed to cancel. Spent time at the hotel explaining the circumstances and they were ok to cancel. Agoda then said after 2-3 hours trying to resolve it that they could cancel if the hotel agreed but they wanted a 100% penalty fee! Customer support refused to provide copies of support Chat (it disappears after ending) and advise they are not obliged to provide recordings of our phone conversations. How can we rely on what they say or write when they change statements but will not provide a record! I thought they had a legal obligation to provide recordings of all calls requested?

Would give zero stars if possible. Booked accommodation at Nusa Lembongan for my family. When we arrived the pictures and description on the website did not match what was offered in real life. It showed TWO beds and a double story bungalow but it was actually only ONE bed with an outside couch (which they said our children could sleep on.... in the open air, without a fly net or anything?) and a single room.
We obviously couldn't stay there so had to book accommodation elsewhere. Despite my prompt follow up and request for a refund, I was only offered a measly $10 compensation. Both accommodation and Agoda blamed each other and have kept the full payment of our unused accommodation. Thieves.

In the beginning, they say free cancellation 2 days before check-in which is up to 48 hours before your check in. I canceled 51 hours before - was charged for it. DON'T BOOK THROUGH THEM!

Was trying to book a hotel room the same day, after googling I found Travelodge to be the cheapest and closest to where I needed to be. Jumped on what I thought was Travelodge's website, and whilst trying to book a 2 night stay the calender kept going to 3 nights, eventually managed to get it back to 2 nights, seen Agoda who I had never heard of but as I thought I was on Travelodge website I thought Agoda was the chains parent company. So paid for 2 nights accommodation and set off for the hotel. When I arrived at Travelodge they didn't have a booking and the staff had never heard of Agoda, they then found a booking for 2 weeks time. They offered to change the booking but the 2nd night was outrageously expensive, so Travelodge suggested I cancel the booking with Agoda and split my stay in 2 different Travelodges. Which I did, you cannot contact Agoda, I had to slate them on twitter so they invited me to direct message them, 4 days of tooing and throwing and they are still refusing a refund, despite hijacking my Internet search and me realising their crap booking system had caused me to book the wrong dates. Awful company that cannot be contacted. Hundreds of negative reviews stay clear, many other customers arriving at accommodation to find Agoda has not actually made the bookings.

Absolutely horrific experience from start to finish. I cancelled by booking due to medical reasons and was promised in writing I would get a full refund on the hotel as I was simply unable to make it. Customer service staff named:

I am truly shocked how different people (named above) have told me different things, 99% copy paste nonsense that has nothing to do with booking. Promising false refunds and money that to this date has never happened. This company is fraud and must be stopped. They do not care about T&Cs, customers or helping people. All of the above names should be fired as they have contradicted, outright lied and broken the code of conduct. Luckily I have all the evidence to take these people down and get justice. STAY AWAY!!
