I am so delighted to have found James Grew and his crew. They are knowledgeable and do a terrific job of keeping our flower beds looking great. James has a good eye and I'm always happy with his choices.
We are part-time residents of south-eastern New Hampshire and tending to our landscaping when we were away was a huge headache for years. That is until we found Seacoast Gardener and James Grew. I have a large property in Rye and James has tended it for over six years. I like his intellectual approach to what needs to be done with perennials and annuals to make my gardens “pop”. I have several old roses that he has helped revive with careful attention to fertilizer. He likes to make his own hours which I respect.
Our Stratham property needed winter pruning on older shrubs that had never really been shaped properly. Seacoast Gardener worked in late November and focused on structure instead of appearance alone. The plants already feel lighter and healthier going into winter.
Our foundation shrubs in Rye had gotten dense and uneven over the years. Seacoast Gardener came in early November and did careful winter pruning on the boxwood and yews. Everything looks more structured now, and we’re confident it will come back stronger in spring.
We scheduled Seacoast Gardener in late October for winter pruning on our hydrangeas and old lilacs in Portsmouth. James explained what could be safely pruned before dormancy and what should wait, which made a lot of sense. The shrubs went into winter looking clean and healthy, not cut back too hard.
