Very happy, look nowhere else

Really happy with my recent interactions with Safely Insured. Took a policy out the next day not only because their price was so much better but because the person I spoke to first (Luke) was so personable and talked to me like a normal human. Highly recommend

Outstanding car insurance price

Fraudulent insurance company…

As per my email to them just moments ago as they defrauded me out of my no claims bonus. Please be aware as I suspect they add customer cars to one trade like policy. When I joined them like 5 years ago I had 9 years ncb. On my renewal last month it clearly stated I now have 14 years ncb. Which all adds up. Then yesterday I got an email stating that I only have 9 years ncb. Since joining them I have not had any fault claims and my ncb was also protected. On top of that since I passed my test over 30 years ago I’ve never had any fault claim. They have defrauded me out of 6 yrs ncb as I didn’t insured with them this year. Even though it stated on my renewal documents I now have 14 years. I will be reporting them the the ombudsman and motor insurance regulators.
Don’t under any circumstances insure them as I think they run one policy and add customer cars to it. That’s why you don’t get any bonus for the years you been on their policy. Insurance fraud at its best!

Before responding to the core point of your review, we would firstly like to correct some inaccuracies within your post:

- We are an FCA regulated business, and most certainly do not engage in any fraudulent activities.
- We have various methods of insuring more than one vehicle. We can offer completely separate, standalone policies for additional cars, or multicar or multivehicle. However, the important point to keep in mind is that we always discuss the various options with our customers before offering a quote – this helps us to ensure we are providing a policy that is suitable for their needs.

Regarding the discrepancy on the total years of NCB you have, this is because the highest number of NCB that most insurers recognise is 9 years. So, while our system may state a number higher than 9, when the official proof of NCB is sent, it often reverts back to the maximum recognised value. The reason for this is that there isn’t typically any extra premium discount for NCB over 9.

We would like to stress that this practise is not unique to Safely Insured. You will find that the majority of brokers & insurers adopt a very similar system. However, in most situations, we can simply issue a separate letter stating what your actual number of NCB should be. You would just need to contact our customer services team to discuss.

Personally I had a bad and a rude experience

Personally I had a bad experience with this company. Then tried to cancel my policy 3 times and every time I called them up and discussed it, they couldn’t give me a reason of why they were trying to even cancel on me. I’ve been with this insurance for 2 years and this last year is when they treated me poorly. The staff seemed rude to me, as they had no reason of why they were cancelling, they never said “we apologise” or “were sorry” all they kept saying is “it’s fixed now” just for me to call them back up in two weeks time to hear the same thing again. They gave me a very expensive quote, when I asked them about a problem with the black box they couldn’t even explain it properly, they just said wait for another month or two and the score should go up, to me I was driving sensible and they even said there was no problem with my driving but, my score was low and still is on the same place.

We’d very much like to look into this, so if you could kindly reply to our message to you last week requesting your policy information, that would be much appreciated. This will allow us to locate your policy, investigate, and respond.

The reason we’d like to investigate is because some of the points you’ve raised are not consistent with our processes or how we conduct ourselves.

Firstly, we always try and avoid policy cancellation, but if a cancellation is now in place, there will be a very apparent and obvious reason for this. We also make it clear in our communication to you as to why you cannot remain on cover – there is no ambiguity on the matter. However, if your policy has now been cancelled, the final part of your review would suggest that the reason was unacceptable driving.

To outline our stance and process in regard to quality of driving, we do not expect perfect driving from the start; we appreciate it takes time. To offer a form of assistance, we even have a dedicated team whose job it is to review driving data and offer friendly advice for those who are struggling on how to improve their scores.

If our advice is not heeded, this could result in warnings being issued. If multiple warnings are accumulated and the quality of driving does not improve, we are left with no option but to cancel, as it would be irresponsible for us to continue covering a driver who isn’t displaying a competent driving ability. Before cancellation, we issue a final warning, acting as a last chance for the driver to improve.

It is worth noting that you can see all of your driving data within the online dashboard.

We would like to reiterate that we always try and avoid policy cancellation, hence why we go to great lengths to help improve score and stress the seriousness and consequences of repeated poor driving.

Great service from Luke from the initial inquiry to paying for the policy. I had a few questions that I needed Luke to answer and he was able to answer those without any issue or hesitation. Safely Insured got me the best price for my policy soo, I'd happily recommend them going forward.

Cheapest quote but might not be what you need

Hmmmm, don't quite know what to make of these guys but my gut feeling isn't very good. I did an online comparison for my sons first policy (with a provisional license), they came out cheapest by a country mile. However when I tried to purchase the policy, my card payment would not go through. After several attempts I gave up and decided to call them. I had to go through the whole process again, even though I had a reference number and answer all the questions again. Finally the operator confirmed the price I needed to pay however she said that she needed to read out a quick statement to proceed. I was then informed that the policy was only a "Learner's Policy" meaning that once my son passed his test, the policy would terminate and I could then get a new quote for a New Driver Policy or cancel for a pro-rata refund LESS ADMIN FEES, BROKER FEES, PLUS A ONE-OFF CHARGE ETC. ETC. If my son does pass on his first attempt, it would mean that the annual policy I bought would only be used for 5 weeks before being terminated! I'm pretty sure I won't get much of a refund after all the various fees are deducted, then I will need to go through the whole process again.

It’s difficult to comment on why the payment failed without seeing your son’s quote information. However, we will be able to offer some clarification regarding your other concerns.

When we speak to a customer on the phone who’s had a quote with us online, we have an obligation to confirm that the details inputted online are accurate. This should only take a few minutes, but it’s of the utmost importance that the information is validated. Furthermore, we’re as transparent as possible regarding our cancellation fees before a policy is bought, and we do not simply assume the customer information is correct and take payment.

While we do indeed sell policies that cater for those learning to drive, once a driver has passed their test, we will do our best to facilitate their newly acquired Full UK licence. This is also something we make clear during the phone conversation.

Finally, we would like to stress that the process of charging cancellation fees is not unique to us. It’s highly likely you’ll find a very similar approach is adopted by other brokers and insurers.

Luke's Been a Blessing

Luke's been working with me to get the Right Policy on my Modified car, he did the Quote with me in Jan, parts didnt arrive for my car and had to delay insuring it, Yesterday i emailed and he helped me on the Phone today, Polite and not pushy happily deal with him again.

You are probably referring to the online short term insurance product, which is related to a different website than this review site is referring to.

There is a clarification on the short-term site that stipulates due to the short term nature of the policy, the insurers do not offer a refund and to double check you wish to proceed under that basis.

You can contact them to raise this further.

Avoid this company at all costs. They quoted £36 for the month and took out £275 without consulting me. They trade as Safely Insured on money supermarket.
Their prices are not clear, it is a conning company.

That 100% does not happen on our site. All prices are confirmed several times across the journey - there may, on occasion, be an initial quote based on limited information and a change in price when fuller details are known and validation checks processed but any price changes are clearly detailed prior to purchase in at least two places in the journey.
