User friendly website and excellent delivery process and of course excellent product

Absolutely delicious turbot from your mail-order. Superb fish, easy to cook for an inexperienced person, and it make a beautiful supper. Very contrented!

Food was poor
Our starter .Seared tuna was badly prepared.It is one of my favourites but very disappointed.
Main meal Lobster risotto : was tasteless, lacked flavour Again a real let down!
Dessert :Absolutely Amazing!

Just did Rick Stein’s seafood restaurant at Padstow for lunch. Food was amazing. Had sharing sashimi, sardines, olives and fries. Superb. Not overly expensive and reasonable given the quality. Recommend:)

I can honestly say. The Padstow winter candles are unreal. They capture both the cornish sea and Christmas at the same time ,the smell is divine ,very unique.
Reminds me of my childhood trips to Cornwall, brings a little bit back to Woodley, Cheshire. Thank you xxx

Restaurant Padstow. Food was good staff were excellent. However it was completely rammed to the point where the guy on the next table was uncomfortably close. I was seated near to the exit/entrance to the kitchen and had trays of food continually passed over my head. Enjoyed the food but not the experience. If your booking make sure your away from kitchen door!

Vi var 4 personer, der havde reserveret bord i forvejen. Fik hurtigt anvist vores bord og bestilte drikkelse, forretter og hovedretter ved en venlig tjener. Vi bestilte moules marinier og tuncarpacio til forret. Der var intet brød til muslingerne desværre, det skulle bestilles særskilt 🤷‍♀️. Det kunne tjeneren godt have gjort opmærksom på. Tuncarpaccio var ikke den store oplevelse, desværre.
Hovedretterne var ribeye til herrerne, og lammekoteletter til pigerne. Tjeneren havde ikke gjort opmærksom på at der ingen sauce var til steak’en, så den måtte vi efterbestille. Den ene bøf blev sendt retur, da den var sej og tør (bestilte medium). Tjeneren (en kvinde) var hurtig til at få en ny steak fremskaffet, som var rigtig fin, og sovsen blev varmet op. Helt fint og hun beklagede den seje bøf. Lammekoteletterne var super fine og saftige. Det tog desværre lidt af fornøjelsen at der i restauranten var en familie med 2 små børn der larmede meget og ødelagde den ellers gode stemning. Det undrede os at den ellers venlige og søde kvindelige tjener havde de sorteste/beskidte negle - passer ikke så godt ind i en restaurant i den prisklasse og kategori.

The best part was how the Champagne was packaged. Lovely presentation box! And the best part was the way you rectified my horrendous mistake of putting down the wrong postcode! It was dealt with in very professional manner.

Reviewing Rick Stein Winchester: In the first couple of years it was a premium 5 star restaurant. Top Quality, Top service, hard to book at. A special experience.

Now: It's about a notch above a Zizzi and the portions have dramatically reduced in size clearly to maximise profit but the ultimate bill is still premium.

It has an air about it that it does not know what it is
anymore.

Given the current inflation and tax environment it's very clear as a self made entrepreneur customer and local land owner who eats in restaurants all over the world that Rick has stepped in and made his "product" more affordable for the masses at a quality level they may deem above average. This is true, its very "edible" food and the prices are in line with the reality of the world we currently live in. But every time I have gone there recently I always feel bitterly disappointed. Perhaps I just miss the original "Rick Stein" formula?

So as reviews go I say to you go, experience it then write a review here. I may not be the average reviewer as I come from a family of "Foodies" and am a keen cook myself. Therefore, perhaps I am not a fair voice as others may feel its brilliant?

My overall problem is that this restaurant has had to adapt to survive and in doing so is not "special" anymore.

So, in conclusion, as sympathetic as I am to the costs that have spiralled 5 fold for business's like this since Covid that have forced them to adapt for survival I have personally found the food average. In terms of service it was "OK" but rushed which means it made it unpleasant due to the servers fatigue and obvious work load.

Overall I think my disappointment sits with the fact that even Rick Stein has had to compromise his personal standards due to cost pressures of the current economic environment. I would rather pay double and go back to the exceptional restaurant it was some years ago in Winchester. I wish Rick Stein all the best in your future decisions.
