I came in because my rear brake was not working properly. I was told that I needed to replace the brake pads and the rotor (disc), which I agreed to. The repair cost me $167 including tax.
Later that same day, I received a message saying that everything was ready and that I could pick up my bicycle. I came back the next day, picked it up, and tested it. Unfortunately, the rear brake still wasn't functioning properly.
I returned to the store and informed them of the issue. After checking the bike again, they told me that the caliper also needed to be replaced.
I wouldn't have had any issue with that if they had identified the problem from the beginning and performed a proper diagnosis when I first brought the bike in. Instead, I paid for repairs that did not solve the original problem.
They offered me a discount on the caliper replacement and waived the labor charge, which I appreciate. However, they also informed me that the cable needs to be replaced. Because the cable housing runs internally through the frame, this would require additional work and additional cost.
It's obvious that a proper diagnosis was not performed when I first brought the bike in. If I had been told from the start everything that needed to be replaced, I would have approved the work.
Instead, new issues kept appearing after each repair. At this point, I've decided to try fixing the bike myself. I won't be spending any more money here.
Poor diagnostics and a frustrating experience overall.
