Better than perfect as usual.

I have now had several dealings with Regton's and am always totally surprised at the superb service they give. Yet again, a purchase has been delivered by an efficient Courier the day after placing the order.

Brilliant Service.

I sent my 11" Deus Coil for a new battery to be fitted, I could not have wished for a better customer service from the repair team, they couldn't have been more helpful answering my questions & my coil was delivered well packaged back to me within a few days.

Regton,s..... The Fawlty Towers of metal detector dealers !

I have waited for my XP Deus warranty to expire before writing this review. I really don,t know where to start but found Regtons to be rude, incompetent and totally unhelpful on several occasions where I have had to contact them with faults with my XP Deus.
I have had two faulty 11' coils, the first one they didn,t believe me and sent it back only for it to be erratic straight away no matter what I tried with it . Regtons did then send it to France and a replacement was sent after XP declared it faulty beyond repair. The second coil developed the same fault after several months use. Regtons after the farce with the first coil sent it straight to XP and again it was declared a ' duff ' coil. Then I declined three coils that Regtons sent to me as they were in a worse condition than the coil I sent to them. They were scratched and one still had some small amounts of mud left on it ! Eventually after much arguing I received a coil in an acceptable condition.
I still think XP and Regtons should give the customer a new coil and not a factory ' second ' as they describe it.
Then my headphones would not hold a charge and yes I did try to change the battery but had to send them to Regtons in the end as the ribbon broke inside the unit. Regtons fixed the ribbon at my cost which I accept but tested the headphones and said they were fine. Well guess what they still didn,t hold a charge so I had to send them back to Regtons who sent them to France. After nearly six weeks they sent the headphones back and said they were ok and tried to charge me postage. They still were faulty ! I phoned Regtons who were now treating me very poorly to say the least and was told it must be my charging system and to send the headphones and charging system to them. I decided to buy a whole new charging set up including a charging block for the coil as Three XP coil charging clips had broke on me ( many others have had these poor clips break ). Then finally after banging my head against a brick wall XP have brought out an update to fix the battery draining fault on the headphones ! I am out of pocket to the tune of £90 because my battery never needed to be changed in the first place plus buying the charging set up and block and p&p costs twice.
I have been a detectorist for 44 years and if I report a fault Regtons need to believe me. I was proved right on the faulty coils and the headphones with many others coming forward with exactly the same issues ! I will not hold my breath for an apology from Regtons or refunding my costs not to mention all the stress they have caused me. Also it is not acceptable in this day and age to be waiting six weeks on average for my coil and headphones to be sent back to me. It was poor from the start with no XP warranty being sent with the detector Regtons had put a Garrett warranty in the box. Not wanting to speak to me, no phone calls back,headphones sent to old address when I told them I had moved. Shocking rude poor service avoid using Regtons aka The Fawlty Towers of detector dealers !

Hello Mr Borg, indeed you have had a few issues which I can only apologise for however some of these have been self induced for example the headphones, you self diagnosed the issue & bought an aftermarket battery that you changed yourself, whilst doing so you damaged the LCD ribbon cable (you told us in one of your letters what you had done), as we could not find a problem with your headphones we suggested letting XP take a look at them which can take a few weeks for the round trip, they confirmed there was no fault with them. I'm not aware of any rudeness or poor service on our part.

This has been a frustrating experience…

This has been a frustrating experience and quite inconvenient. I’m sure the products are great, this is not a review of them but an honest account of my experience.

Goods were shipped quickly via DPD. I was happy with this as I have a DPD account and use the app all the time. Probably one of the best carriers.

Got notification item being delivered on Monday. Like lots of people I work so was not going to be home. Powered up the app to select an alternative delivery arrangement. This is where the problem started. There were none of the usual options available apart pay more for a Saturday or reschedule. No point rescheduling as I’m at work in the week and Saturdays I’m not around right now as my mum is seriously I’ll in hospital so I’m with her.

I tand DPD to enquire why I can’t collect from a local collection point and I’m told that this company has disabled that feature!

In fact they won’t allow;

Collection from a pick up point (usually Curry’s)
Leave with a neighbour
Leave in a safe place
Deliver to an alternate address.

Now I do understand the safe place thing as delivery drivers have been known to chuck over the fence but why disable the others???

On speaking with the company they are not much help. They don’t allow these options as they are so hung up on “their” interests and what’s best for them without much regard for the customer. They could learn s few lessons from Smazon here.

Eventually they agreed for me to pick up from the DZpD depot. Need to take, utility bill ( who has paper bills these days?) driving licence, and delivery card. Seems a bit overkill given my driving licence had my pic and address.

So today I had to drive a 20 mile round trip to collect my parcel. Why this couldn’t be collected from a local DPD collection point I will never understand.

So I definitely won’t be ordering from this company again. Far to much hassle if you can’t be there for when it suits them.

Guys, you seriously need to review this and consider your customers needs.

Xp Deus X35 coil

Excellent service from Regton as per usual and the coil is awesome. The 9 inch X35 coil is the most stable coil i have ( compared to standard 9 inch and 11 inch coils ) On the second outing i had a Charles I Hammy badly clipped and very small but a really good signal. Cannot wait to try the coil out some more.

Update on the ML-3400 battery

Refering to my earlier review of the ML-3400 batery for the Minelab Explorer detector, I can add the following;
My detctor was sent to Steve Cox at MSR for a new press pad and to investigate what was causing the battery to be too tight in the housing, as the old ones have never been a problem
Steve did inform me there could be a slight warp in the housing, although, if there was, it did not effect the sliding in of the old ones.
Steve's solution was to file the ribs in the housing, as he thought there was a very slight width increase in the ML-3400.
Because there is no longer a problem, and the battery continues to give first class perfomance, I now give it 5 stars.

Many thanks for the helpful advice during my recent visit to you in Birmingham. At last had a chance to try the 3 items I bought. Tried them out and wondered how I managed to detect without them !. Very unhappy customer

Really sorry to say but I am new to metal detecting, I purchased a Garrett pro pin pointer 11. I still beleave it’s a good product but after only using it twice, I had to return it to Regton, not working.
They sent it back to me, apparently scrap, because it had water ingress, I had probably used it a total of 1 hour if that, but before putting it away for winter, I rinsed the pointer off, Regton are telling me that it is not guaranteed against water ingress, even though it clearly says in the features that the pro pointer 11 can be rinsed and cleaned under water, ? Regton insisted that the unit is not guaranteed, even though it carries a 2 year guarantee,
I have received a message from an American guy through the Garrett.com site telling me that Garrett always put things right, well I hope so, this could be a very long and drawn out job.
As I have been trying to get my situation resolved, I have gone online, and checked out google and you tube, and to my surprise I found that dozens of people have trouble with the Garrett, with water getting in through the on/ off switch or the led bulb, but when speaking to Regton, they completely refused to acknowledge that fact.
I have had to resort to Trading Standards to assist me in this, as the unit is only six months old,

Whilst the above is very unfortunate, what has been omitted is that the speaker grill has two punctures in it indicating something was poked into it, that would allow water to get into the unit, it also lines up perfectly with the corrosion on the PCB, it's not a manufacturing defect & nothing to do with the LED or on/off switch in any way. As repair agents we have nothing to gain or lose when repairing anything we are simply reporting on facts as we find them.

I think when you read our other service reviews you will see that this is not the norm from Regton in fact if anything we will go the extra mile for customers to help them. I can understand your frustration however this is self inflicted.

This company is amazing

This company is amazing! Whether you telephone, email or call into the showroom they always seem to have the time to talk and advise.
Thank you Nigel, Lesley and Julie for the time you spent with me on Monday morning (5th March). I left confident that I had purchased the right detector for me (with absolutely no sales pressure) and that the backup would be there should I need it.
