Terrible service from them, they have idiots on live chat who have poor knowledge.
I will never use RAC again.

My renewal came through which was more expensive than last year, I got in touch to see if RAC could do it any cheaper as I was willing to renew, but the guy I got on live chat was an idiot. Poor knowledge and very unhelpful, while arranging the quote he asked if there would be any changes, I said yes there would be a name change to my partner as we were getting married, he proceeded to change the name on my current policy which meant I would incur an charge for a policy change. This is not acceptable. Now the RAC are chasing me for an extra charge and a late fee after my old policy had ended, but now they say it was cancelled as I didn’t renew.
I will never use the RAC again and I suggest no one else does. They are conmen.

They rip you off when you have to change policy details
Was happy to renew with them but soon had to change my car. My 'new car' was almost identical. It is 18months newer but still quite old. Same engine etc. I was prepared for the £15 admin fee but £69 charge in additional premium felt like an absolute rip off.

A simple claim from 13th May 2023 turned into lengthy battle and still unresolved
My experience has been incredibly frustrating. Following a non-fault accident 13th May 2023, my Range Rover was poorly repaired, and the claim continued to drag on despite liability being accepted. The process involved repeated delays, poor communication and no clear accountability. Ultimately, I had to part with the vehicle. More than three years later, the matter has still not been resolved. I would not recommend this insurer based on my experience.

BEWARE OF FEES NOT COMMUNICATED…
After compare the market said adjustment fees are £15, and that the fee to cancel AFTER the 14 day cooling off period was £45, but having received no communication at any point of a fee to cancel within the 14 days, I was charged £25 when I had to cancel the day after taking out the policy. The online person (as I couldn't speak to anyone) repeatedly told me the fee was communicated in my policy pack given AFTER taking out the policy, but at no point before I took out the policy which is completely unacceptable. If this happened in a shop and they told you there was a fee for refunds but it only tells you on the receipt, they wouldn't get a way with it.

I’m sorry to say well below customer expectations
The first thing I’d like to say i deal with a computer( AI) in which it was frustrating in every way.
It asked me the reference number ? i never had , it told me to shorten my question, because it never understood , it was too long, it asked me my name and date of birth about 10 times on one occasion , what an experience,
And then when you got a chat line 50% of the people could not answer my simple question. NO phone number to speak to anyone because it is all done online unsuccessfully..
Trying to talk to RAC insurance by telephone they could not help because you are dealing with their online account that is cheaper than them. Eventually after two days and many chat lines I completed my insurance and paid for it in full. I asked do they require my no claims bonus certificate? The answer was no. and after documenting one small claim , some four years , and paying for it in full they told me there’s nothing else they wanted and I was good to go. Within 24 hours they were sending me emails and texting telling me I’ve not declared a claim from four years ago this was a windscreen with a chip that happened on the classic car . I rectified it with them and asked them again. is there anything else they wanted ? The answer was NO everything‘s done now thank you for your custom. And for the next fortnight, they bombarded me with emails and texts threatening me they are going to cease my insurance because I have not communicated with them. I ask myself how could they THE RAC INSURANCE keep NEW customers AND existing customers? by them dealing with them in this manner.. my answer is never use the online insurance.and after making all these complaints to them from mid August to now ,I’ve never heard a thing from them. I worked for the RAC for 35 years in another department up to retirement so I know all the divisions don’t act this way they look after their customers. Shame on them on this occasion Chris smith
