Protool is a family-run supplier of precision cutting tools, based at Wrotham in Kent and independent of any single manufacturer. We hold stock across milling, turning, threading, hole making, toolholding, deburring, measuring and work holding. That means solid carbide and indexable end mills, slitting saws, corner rounding and chamfer cutters, ISO turning and Swiss line inserts, parting and grooving tools, thread mills, taps and dies, wire thread inserts and repair kits, HSS and carbide drills, reamers, spade drills and micro drills, collets and VDI holders, carbide burrs and zero-flute deburring tools, gauges and styli, vices, chucks and live centres. Storage cabinets and CNC workbench systems too, alongside the everyday items — silver steel, hand files, oil skimmers, magnetics. Brands we stock include Carmex, Widin, Nicon, Europa Tools, Vortex, OSG, Palbit, Toolex, JBO, Baer, Asimeto, Tschorn, Axis Micro, ITP and Polstore. Carmex Tiny Tools covers threading, turning and grooving at small-bore sizes most catalogues stop short of. Most of our customers are precision engineering firms machining for aerospace, medical and Formula 1, where a tool has to hold tolerance in titanium, Inconel or hardened steel and a scrapped part costs far more than the insert did. We also sell to one-man shops, toolrooms, maintenance departments and one-off buyers. There is no minimum order — a single insert is a perfectly good order. Orders placed before 4:30pm ship the same day from stock at Wrotham. Delivery is free next day on orders over £50 ex VAT. Trade accounts carry 30-day credit terms for qualifying businesses, with tiered pricing once the quantities justify it. Independent means we aren't working through one manufacturer's catalogue. The team are absolutely fantastic. I place my order and I get it in time for production next day.
The tools are of excellent quality and reasonably priced, to top it off the expertise is second to none. I had a parting issue that Iscar and Tungalloy couldn't resolve - Protool did! John you're the best, always helpful.

I placed an order on May 7th
I placed an order on May 7th, emphasizing that it was an important order for us, with a promise of delivery by May 12th. We waited the entire day, but the tool was not delivered, nor did we receive any updates from Protool. After reaching out to them, we were informed that the delivery would not happen on the promised date. Instead, they stated it would arrive on May 14th, "all being well."
This delay not only damaged our reputation with the customer but also led to a fine due to our contractual obligations. The only response we received from Protool was, "We are sorry." Therefore, if you are considering placing an important order with them, make sure to get everything in writing!

While we always aim to meet expected delivery dates, occasionally delays can happen due to factors outside our control for example when items are currently not in stock at time of order and we are relying on suppliers, but having said that I believe these were delivered on the morning of the 14th May.
